You create the most beautiful planted tanks. Your fish selection in this one seems to be just about perfect as well. You are so fortunate to have so many tanks and have the talent to create such amazing aquascapes.
The work involved in breaking down and re-creating a new aqua scape is so underappreciated in these videos. I have 6 aquascaped tanks, and just catching platies out that were breeding like rabbits, OMG! Everything out, fish out, then re-scape in a black cloud of water, bloody hell man. Meanwhile separating the other corys and plecos. MD deserves every subscription and a million more.
I have 1 i have to breakdown soon really soon. Its my guppy, endler, swordtail breeder tank i started more than a year ago. Over 200 babies and 2 inches of floating plants. Lol this will take days
@@aronro1291 I made the mistake of moving the babies to their own holding tank, then they started having babies. Now every platy is in their own 125 gallon tub. More invasive than duck weed, I'm praying I got all the babies. Best of luck.
I broke down a tank for someone today who was gifting me their setup, catching the fish was a task and a half. I have holding tanks ready but knowing how hard these fish were to catch (Colombian tetras) I've decided to just keep them in a tub until the new tank is ready again.
the 2 pieces of wood at 10:24 were waiting their whole lives for this moment. they were perfect

Love the purple tetras. The tank looks great. I like how you threw in the info for keeping angel fish together. Thats vital info for someone who is not familiar with them and how they can fight with each other over time, keep up the great work. Wish you the best
Love it! Just did something similar with my 40gallon by going above the rim with some immersed plants. Something new I tried: I used screen from the hardware store (like whats used on patio doors) to fully cap down the nutrient layer before adding the top visible substrate/sand. That way my corys wont dig and mix them all together!
Great video MD, would love to see you do something like this but for an 8ft tank. would be cool to see and having it on your long table as soon as you walk it would be insane
Those are some really striking emperors indeed! My local fish/pet shop had some full black ones, but I like these superblues even more. And of course, those angels are stunning! It's amazing how many varieties you see of them nowadays as compared to when I first started in the hobby as a teenager a good thirty years ago, hee. Hopefully you'll keep this tank up long enough for them to grow out and form pairs! 😃

I think I have not seen you do like a mangrove style scape ! It would be really awesome I think! Imagine loads of loads of wood standing up like roots with no rock but just sand, and maybe on top out of water make it look like actual mangrove like tree with plants.

Ive had aquariums since 1960. To me, Angelfish will always be the Kings of the aquarium hobby.
this is one of my favorite tanks. Angels and Tetras look amazing and the aquascaping looks natural and gorgeous at the same time. I always preferred scapes with full hairgrass carpet and moss on woods but this tank looks so good it's making me change my mind
I stopped trying to figure out a favorite tank. Caused to many headaches. Now I just admit that I admire them ALL. My head hurts much less. Love the channel. Always look forward to the next one. Best wishes from Iowa in the U.S.
Really love the look of this tank and it's the perfect fish collection. I always live cycle my tanks. Like you mentioned, as long as you're testing your water and doing water changes you can minimize the negative effects while the tank cycle starts.
Set up my first planted tank a little 5 gallon one for my desk. Best decision I have ever made, love watching the endlers checking out the plants, rarely see the shrimp but they pop up every now and then just to let me know they are still in there
So I have a 200 ltr set up and have ended up with 1 big marbled angelfish, she's a beauty! But quite dominant. After seeing this video, Matt has convinced me that adding some new ones would help to create a shoal would actually help to calm her down, so-to-speak. I have recently purchased some golden angelfish x4. I was worried that she would be aggressive towards them, but quite the opposite has happened. It's almost like she has adopted them (I know she hasn't), they swim together, but know there place - so far so good. Cheers for the advice.

Love you and Matt. I have learned so much. I have a 55 gallon long. I used the plant holders so that the roots are in the tank. (Peace plant) Everything was ok for about a week. Then my ph went down yo 6.0. So took them out and used api (of course!l) to get ph up.
One day i hope one day to do something like you do.
Keep those videos coming.. i still have lots to learn!!

I would have totally opted for the natural looking emperors in this setting, but these look so cool when they're shown closer up amidst vegetation. They just reminded my of smurfs in a forest lol

Emperor Tetras need to be utilized more. Their stunning purple color is awesome.

This is a great tank! I only wished it were the classic emperor tetras (nematobrycon palmeri). Where I live, the ones he got are called "king tetra" and the classic emperor tetras are my favorite fish.
I've always preferred to rinse ceramic filter media beforehand. gets rid of most of the dust.
Your channel I think is the best for low tech that works so well.

the way the world works... ive watched your videos for 2 years now. I have had 4 Angelfish for all of those 2 years and JUST yesterday, I lost all 4 of my Angelfish within 36 hours... Another Great Tank, I tried your substrate method and my tank has just taken off with Plant. Just one thing, I notice you put your Filter media in the bottom, you want that after the sponges not before as the sponge take all the big crap first and the media just works better.

Tank does look awesome and it’s initial set up. It’s a shame that that beautiful Hardscape will be obscured by those fast growing stems that you placed in the middle ground will cover up all that hard scape in a month. I probably would’ve chosen, low, growing slow, growing plants, so that you can really see the impact and the hard scape.

I'd love to see one of the lights that goes all the way across the tank. The single light with all those plants is so shadowy, at least on camera. Maybe in person it's fine. Also the angels are kinda drab with that light too. It would be fun to see the difference.
