    Sami is such a good boiiiii!!! I love how gentle you are with him and so patient and loving. I find using finger cots help with gripping. Also stripping knives can pull out more dead hair at once.

      Thank youuu! :) And yes, he is such a good boy! Yep, I love using those tools, it's much easier isn't it?

    Aw what a sweetie! Westies are the besties (and Cairns too!). Some use the Mars coat king tool instead but I've not tried it yet...

    Thanks forvyour video. My Maggie is 3 months with a lovely dble coat. Would love to attempt this method as our 25 yr old Westie is clipped and has more of a soft coat

    This was a great video with a lot
    Of good Info. I just got a 3 month old Westie pup and even if I have no desire to achieve ‘show’ status, I do wanna learn to strip for at least in-between-grooming sessions (if I don’t find a groomer that does this); it just seems like the healthy thing to do, looks aside. Thanks again.

    I want to try this. How do you know which are the dead hairs?

    • @WestieVibes
      @WestieVibes  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      They are usually the ones "sticking out" among the others. They are longer and maybe pointing up. You need to look from different angles to make sure you see them, and when you do, just pull and see if it comes out easily. If it does, and your pup doesn't mind much, it means it's a dead hair :) If it shows some resistance when you pull, then it's not. I hope this helps!

    Kinda scared of the idea of "stripping" but I guess I need to learn how to do it some point!

    • @WestieVibes
      @WestieVibes  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes, it seems scary at first but it's all habit :) If you can, try to go to a specialized groomer first and see how they do it. They can teach you.

    • @WestieVibes
      @WestieVibes  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Aww, thank you! No, it doesn't. You just pull off the dead hairs, which come off easily and no pain :)

    Just a tip! It hurts the dog less if you hold the base of the hair before pulling it out at the top.
    Looks great, though!!

      Yes, thank you, that's true! My groomer told me that too, I have to remember next time I do this. At the moment, thankfully, I still take Sami to the groomer's and she does it all :D

      It's true, it takes a long time and it's easier just going to the groomer :) Thankfully, Sami is pretty patient 😇😍

    No lo hagan ustedes. Pueden lastimar al perro.

    He is adorable but that looks very uncomfortable for your handsome little man! I am a hairdresser in love with WESTIES my whole life, but give them a good old fashioned westie ✂️ looks much neater and fluffier!

    Pues te habrás informado mucho y querrías hacerlo a mano para ser "menos agresiva" pero lo cierto es que hacerlo de esa manera le molesta y le duele... Coges el pelo de la punta, no de la base, tu perro te aguanta xk t quiere, pero me parece que hacer esto, sin estar cualificada, es una idea pésima. Y no se debe fomentar, ni abusar del producto chalk powder que le echas por todas partes... si t hubiese molestado en ver un tutorial lo sabrías.

    • @WestieVibes
      @WestieVibes  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      El pelo si se coge de la punta, por lo menos eso es lo que mi groomer me enseño. No le dolio para nada, tuve mucho cuidado con eso y conozco a mi perro lo suficiente para saber si le duele o si esta simplemente aburrido con el proceso. Como ya dije al principio, no tengo experiencia y estoy aprendiendo. Por supuesto que vi tutoriales y pase horas con mi groomer cada mes, cuando voy con Sami. No tengo idea porque sentiste la necesidad de dejar un comentario tan agresivo y con maldad. No me molesta que me ayudes o que me enseñes, pero no es eso lo que vos hiciste aca. Antes de atacar a las personas, por favor piensa que cada uno esta haciendo lo mejor que puede y nadie nace apredido.
