Canned pumpkin, homemade beef bone broth, tripe. White fish. Steamed carrots. Those are our standbys for tummy issues. If you are not feeding grain be sure he is getting taurine. Most dogs are ok with rice.
it is a product that I have also tried, you have to spread it on your index finger and spread it on the roof of your mouth. opening his mouth like you did. it's good, it heals. In the following days, I added a little charcoal to my food. for 2 or 3 days. Nice Sami, I always like him so much!
Sami is so well educated and sooo smart, he can understand many languages, that’s amazing ❤, once time my girl had vomiting and diarrhea for whole night. The vet said he had acute gastroenteritis because she was anxious about riding in a car. That’s the first time I knew that stress can cause physical illness. I hope Sami is get better now, thanks for sharing the recipe 🎉
Oh I'm so sorry! Yes, stress can lower their immune system and get them sick. When we got Sami he got sick because we separated him from his mom (he was 3 months old already). The vet said it was because of the stress 😢 Once we understand these things and our dogs, we can manage it better ☺️ Sami is doing great now, thanks for your comment! ❤️
@@WestieVibes Oh poor little boy 🥹 He must be scared of separating from his mom, but he also is a lucky boy because he got a human mom who always doted on him🥰 Thanks for your reply, hopefully one day we can meet on the street in Italy 🤗
This happened to us only yesterday. Gryffy was sick all night, diarrhoea and very lethargic. Have no idea what caused it. Rushed him to the vet in a panic, convinced it was something so much worse than the gastric problem it turned out to be. A couple of injections, antibiotics and the same paste you used on Sami, and symptoms have thankfully settled. Gryffy still won’t eat though, but when he does want something I’ll try your tips. Thanks for another great video! Big hugs Sami and stay well ❤ ❤
I'm sorry! You did great taking him to the vet ❤️ The injections probably helped stop the diarrhea faster and make him feel better. If he has no problem with chicken and rice, you can try that. Some people in the comments also shared that canned pumpkin helps. I'm glad this video came at the right time for you! Hope Gryffy feels better soon! ❤️
For hydration, try watermelon. My kids love any sort of melon. Makes re-hydration super easy. He was probably an EXTRA good boy at school & got EXTRA treats! Trying to point & shoot the medicine. 😂😂 When his mouth is closed, open his cheek. There’s an opening at the back of the mouth. Mouth closed, back of the mouth, the syringe will fit right in. No more point & shoot. But it was really hysterical. Love, Sprocket & LuCy FiRr’s mom PS. Sami’s skin looks great!!!
Oh Sami LOVES watermelon! But it's out of season now. He eats papaya instead (poor doggo!!! 😂😂😂) and loves it too. Great tip, I don't know why I never thought of doing that! It seems easy enough! I will do it next time I need to give him meds ❤️ Thanks! Glad it made you laugh 😅
wondering if Sami's parents had food allergies too? Mom's westie inherited skin allergies that were bad. He would eat anything they gave him eagerly. But the vet at the University of Minnesota said to give him Rice and lamb . And that really helped him. along with a special shampoo. You are such a good MOM! I was glad you figured out it was best to let him eat the medicine as long as he liked it, instead of him gagging on it from the syringe. That was so thick!
When we got Sami, the breeder told us that his parents were allergy free. So I don't know if they were inherited or not 🤷🏻♀️ But one thing is that we initially wanted Sami to have puppies of his own and after a few years we decided not to, because we didn't want to pass on his allergies to other pups ❤️
He absolutely ate something that did not agree with him. Last night my dog woke me up three times. All you have to do is mix pumpkin into his food and it will clear it right up.
I'm sorry your dog had a hard night too. I hope he (or she?) is doing better now. I give Sami pumpkin often. He loves it! But I didn't know it was good for diarrhea. Doesn't the fiber make them poop?
@@WestieVibes it might make him poop but it will be solid. Trust me it will work like a charm. My little boy Ollie looks and acts just like your Sammi 😍. I started giving him pumpkin this morning. He should be fine now. Thank you for asking.
Poor Sammy. I hope you feel better. My Baxter would get upset tummy. We could hear his little tummy girgle. He is grain free because of allergies. Oats bother him, too. Some people confuse gluten-free with grain free. No poultry. We try to go no food, but you know, Westies will think they are starving. I use cooked potatoes and cottage cheese. He handles dairy well. That's our go-to upset tummy recipe.
That's a really good recipe! Thank you for sharing! Sami doesn't eat potatoes but he loves sweet potatoes. And of course he loves cottage cheese too! He is slightly allergic to milk, but I sometimes give him a taste of cottage or kefir ❤️
I haven't tried kefir. Same principle to get some good prebiotic in the tummy. Baxter rarely gets sick now. For 14 yrs old, he's got lots of Westitude. Even his vet is surprised. 😊
Yes, pure canned pumpkin works well for Diarrhea. It's somewhat of a paradox, because pumpkin also works well for constipation. You could probably even put his medication in a tablespoon of pumpkin.
If he did eat something at dog school that gave him a upset stomach my advice is that you should either ask the school what they fed him last time or ask what food they serve the dogs so that it doesn’t happen again. It also makes me smile seeing just how much you two love each other as Sami is such a sweet and adorable little doggy.
I asked them after this and the culprit was chicken sausage (like the hot dog meat). So I told them not to give him any more and I now send Sami off with his own treats 😅 ❤️
I have! Here it is: th-cam.com/video/ZqjiJdvy7Y4/w-d-xo.html My advice is to start small, maybe with a finger brush. And first get her used to the feeling of something touching her teeth, which can be uncomfortable for pups. Then you can move on to actual brushing all the teeth. But start with just the front teeth, keep it short and sweet, like 5-10 seconds every night, until she gets used to it. Good luck!! ☺️
Great tips, and you seem like a responsible westie parent however...poor Sami was on your counter, so dangerous. One slip when you had your back turned away and Sami could be seriously hurt.
I'm uncomfortable not feeding him because then he vomits yellow 😟 so I thought I'd try small portions and feed more often. It worked! Also, I was saying in the video that he is allergic to chicken and rice 😅 so I had to find other options haha

Yes he is perfect now, thanks ❤️
What a lucky dog! Gets so much attention and love

Thank you, you are so sweet! ❤️🥰
That is pure Westie attitude when they won’t take their medicine and you have to shove it in their mouth 😂😂😂😂
My goodness that wee westie (Sami)🐕😍😍

Have you done a video on brushing Sammis teeth ? Paisley is stubborn 🫣

Chicken and rice with my westie, until he clears up. Hes on a super strict diet now becuase of skin conditions. Get well soon sami❤
🙂 Glad your feeling better Sami. What a great Mom you have..
Paisley does best on salmon
Sami loves salmon also ❤️
Give him activated charcoal mixed with water! It always works!!😅
Great tips, and you seem like a responsible westie parent however...poor Sami was on your counter, so dangerous.

don’t feed for 12 hours after you can give some white rice and boiled chicken until his poop get solid again ❤

sami looks not strip his fair.🧐🧐
but undeniable he is a most lovely puppy.
