  • Please join us as we explore an old home foundation in search of revealing the mystery of who may have lived there. We suspect that it may be the long-lost homesite of a famous Revolutionary War General and we metal detect and dig a little around the foundation in an attempt to determine the approximate date the home was built and subsequently occupied. After a full day of poking around, we determine that it would require more investigation.

@12:28 It's a type of garden hoe. My grandfather had one just like it for separating potatoes from the rest of the plant's roots.

I was thinking the same, thing my great grandmother had one like that and she said her parents had it before she was even born.

I almost disagree it might be a hoe > < But my grandfather had a similar looking tool that had the center shank driven into a 4X4 with the prongs sticking out to catch the heel of your boot - shoe to help remove them without bending over. the flat side was for your other boot to hold it down .

Originally created in 1780 in England, the Blue Willow pattern has become one of the most popular patterns in the world, gracing the tables of everyone from British aristocrats to everyday Americans. In fact, the term "Blue Plate Special" comes from the Blue Willow plates commonly used in restaurants and diners back in the 1920s thru the 1950s.

Might have just been an in the field jumble, but a thimble is used to protect your finger and PUSH the needle through, not to protect your finger from the needle coming through and hitting your finger. Also the divots or dimples help the eye of the needle to set in the pit to ease pushing the needle through tougher material vs slipping off of a smooth surface. Think trying to push a large needle through leather or burlap.

Where's your snow. Winter has already stopped me for about a month. Found a place digging wheat pennies, oldest 1919 and a 1949s dime. So many more targets but to frozen. Never get them because it's where they tore down a house to widen a road. Maybe if the snow melts a little more I will go back with a pick. As always Beau, great and fun video.

Dear Beau you are starting to do the Time Team thing. Digging test pits over foundations and interesting anomalies for artefacts to date the site by layered finds. Just be careful, you are becoming an archeologist- you always seem to know what you find - a tiny piece of metal? Part of a Crotal Bell .... a small piece of lead? A civil war bullet. I’m in awe. That well was both amazing and terrifying. Time to send the camera down! Haven’t done that in a while... can’t wait.

  • @cadechristopher6456

Tiny, tiny fyi for you, Chig. I feel kind of silly telling you this, but can't help myself. Thimbles are used primarily for pushing needles through material. Not as you suggested, for protecting your finger from the pointy end. Yes, the texture is there to keep the needle from slipping, however, as you push the needle using the thimble. Sorry man. 🙄

The thimble is not really for protection against pin pricks per se, else you'd wear one on each finger. It is for pushing the needle through the fabric. With the threaded end resting in one of the little divots you can push the needle through the fabric without the threaded end impaling your finger.

Have you guys considered wearing Hi visibility clothing during hunting season like we do up hear in Jersey.I'm more comfortable wearing orange or neon yellow during hunting season as opposed to camo or olive drab green. It's also a good idea when detecting on a working farm if you have earphones on and might not hear that tractor behind you.

About 22:38 You were showing what appeared to be some length of carbon material that may have been a pencil lead. I was coming back from a fire run. My Fire Captain asked me if I liked hunting for old marbles . I said I did. He pulled the fire truck on to a flat area where the old school had been. No marble where found but lots of pencil leads. They had been through a fire and would no longer leave any marks.

Great entertaining video as always thanks. Did anyone else notice the video frame dropping throughout?
I even downloaded a copy and watched it in VLC player, lots of skipped frames and out of sync audio.
    Maybe TH-cam corrupted it.
Please don't have a go at me. I look forward to Chigg's informative and quality uploads...

Could maybe be a property marker when there weren't otherwise significant terrain features.

The style of pad lock is a lever lock. That on there could be a 6 or 8 lever one.
