In a couple years I believe Sam LaPorta will be considered the best TE in the game. Another brilliant move by Brad Holmes. Trades Hockenson and drafts Sam at a fraction of the cost of what TJ got paid by the Vikings.
He’s everything I wanted out of a TE. I don’t expect Kelce numbers but he can BLOCK, have good receiving hands, run good routes, CLUTCH, and an outstanding rookie coming in. Thank you Sam Laporta!
BH looks for certain qualities in the guys he drafts. If you look at every pick he’s made, they’re all solid character guys. They come across as genuinely good dudes, aside from being good players. From Penei, Iffy, McNeill and Saint in 2021, Hutch and Jamo in 2022, Jahmyr, Campbell, Branch and Sam, they’re all for lack of a better word, “happy”. They’re happy playing football. They’re having fun. Whenever they’re interviewed, they’re cheesing the entire time. It seems like the type of locker room a player would love.
@@edbarnard7157sometimes a guy like Cj is helpful to bring out the dog in guys. When players have that dog in em, they tend to be a certain way. I'll agree I was reticent at first but CJ seems to have the ability to temper that dog a little bit (at least externally) to have some professionalism and respect and I think that's what makes him different then say a guy like antionio brown or vontez burfect
I remember the draft aficionados questioning why the lions drafted him instead of the ND TE.... Can't remember that dude's name & LaPorta had one of the best seasons by a rookie TE ever.
Right. WHO?! Although in fairness I think any of those dudes would have benefitted from the situation in Detroit, but maybe not able to take advantage as much
Sam sounds like a man wiser than his young age and intelligent. Rookie TE with his level of production, in a position that takes years to master, super impressive.
Absolutely Love that Guy His Route Running his attitude on and off the field his Respect for Coach Campbell Jared and St Brown just top notch I am So proud to have him here in Detroit with us. We'll see you Next week Stud in Detroit when we take on TB.
Had the fortune of meeting his parents and his sister at the season opener at arrowhead when they sat a few rows up from us. Very classy family and Sam Laporta has quickly become one of my favorite lions after that chance encounter! Go Lions!!
as a Bills fan it is easy for me to say that the Lions are easy to like..they all have stories of rising above the fray and carve their own path..hope they meed the Bills in the SB..would be epic..
Sam so reminds me of gronk. He's a little smaller but man he looks just like him when he's got the ball in his hands. He's so hard to tackle. What a find
I was excited when we drafted him after I learned a little about him and what he could bring to the table. And damn, talk about exceeding expectations. This dude is already a super dependable playmaker! Making big catches is big situations! And ppl were saying we should have took Michael Mayer from ND.
Goff ? Joe Cool. He was a huge star in high school and college and pros in California and did not whimper when he got traded to Detroit. He will get the last laugh.
The LaPorta pickup is unexplainable with the importance in the aspect of where the Lions are @ right now in this moment. This young man is an absolute STUD
LaPorta is a beast. The Lions draft class has played such a big part of the success this year. I've been happy since Day 1 of the draft. Holmes and MCDC have done a great job building a winner.
My favorite tight end in the league since gronk! And what makes it even better he’s a LION! Gibbs and LaPORTA is going to be big for us this next decade! Thank you Mr.Holmes
Did you know the ref who screwed the Lions with that call Brad and the NFL said he will not do a playoff game was spotted on the sidelines of the Steelers game talking to Mike Tomlin in the playoffs and the NFL is a joke
Goff Was fortunate enough to play a rams team with basically no pass rush and a defensive coordinator that doesn't like to blitz And was lucky to win the game by one point.
The smile on his face the entire interview is just amazing. Dude is going to be a freaking legend
He's always smiling always. 😃 what a great Pick up for us.
That’s why we call him the golden receiver
he seems like he's trying to hold it back at times. that tells you that it's REAL and he's SUPER happy to be with Coach Dan and the Lions. Love it.
In a couple years I believe Sam LaPorta will be considered the best TE in the game. Another brilliant move by Brad Holmes. Trades Hockenson and drafts Sam at a fraction of the cost of what TJ got paid by the Vikings.
Dude is baby gronk, never imagined he would be so good on the run blocking side. He likes hitting dudes just as much as catching TDs. What a beast!!
Agree 100%❤
I am a born and bred Wolverine bit Iowa is my #2 in the BIG 10. Great program, turns out talent and good men!
If things go to plan he's gonna cost more than TJ did, but it will actually be worth it

From a Eagles Fan I Agree With U 100% About Sam Even Though He’s a Detroit Lions Player!
Thanks friend! Best of luck to you guys next year. I Love the Eagles wings on the helmet
@@joncena168 No Problem and Thanks Shame My Eagles Are Out of The Playoffs!
He out played Kelce this year…
@@FanGirl9463I think he meant prime Kelce numbers
I am ridiculously glad he is a Lion
They win games because he plays
👍👍👍👍
Seems like a genuinely good guy. Glad he’s with us
If you get a chance, go watch his pro day interview for the Lions and hear him talk with Dan Campbell. He comes across so well.
Bro said “George is a hoot” no other TE I’d rather have
Lions team is greater than any of its individual parts. Kinda reminds me of the 04 Pistons. One Pride baby, Let’s Go!!!!!!!
I said the same thing in a previous post. I think you're spot on.😊 let's go Lions!
This Lions team is just full of great humble dudes who are smart enough to take coaching

What an interview, Sam seems like a intelligent person. Refreshing! Rich seemed to enjoy talking to him
Sam LaGOATa > TJ Dropenson. Love the upgrade by Brad Holmes
Rich, you’re not supposed to be helping Iowa with recruiting 😂😂
He will be the best tight end in the league sooner than later. Already a Stud.
Yeah like next year, dude is so legit.

Good Job Sam thank you for a great season GO LIONS
What a great interview. He sure did win me my Fantasy League as Rich mentioned! Pulling for them in the playoffs
We call him the “golden receiver” in Detroit cuz the man never stops smiling like my pups. Love this dude

Sam is a true pro. So good! Love my Lions! Super Bowl bound

Man I freakin love this kid 🔥 we’re in good hands
I remember I was shocked when they traded TJ. Then after watching Sam play, I was like “ oh, I get it now.”
Do you remember eric ebron. always dropping passes and jessie james a overrated and overpaid TE from the quinntricia era,😢
Remember when everybody was confused why we didn't draft Michael Mayer. They definitely made the right choice
Damn, Brad hit this pick out of the park, Sam has been incredible since day one. He seems wise beyond his years too, very well spoken.
Whether it's Oline, Dline, LB, or of course TE, it's hard to go wrong with a Ferentz-coached kid!
GREAT KID...GREAT PLAYER.....hope he stays healthy and remains a viable piece to Detroit's success for next ten years....

I never pick Lions in fantasy. This year I had Gibbs, LaPorta, and Montgomery.... and I won my league.

No. Must be you. Take a pill ?
That Guy!
He's already the greatest TE in Lion's history. Keep it up Sam LaPorta! Go Lions!
Why's rich call him Sam or Sam laporta after 98% of the questions like he ain't the only one he's talking to?
Ya, rather annoying
He does that with every guest, its infuriating. I wonder if he needs to remind himself of who he's talking to or letting them know he's done talking?
Sam is a rare one, he constantly applies constructive criticism to himself. Completely humble and driven! He will be all pro by year 3 as well!
Brad Holmes finds the guys built like this and have athletic talent. Dan expects no less, to quote, "no turds".
My favorite tight end in the league since gronk! And what makes it even better he’s a LION!

Thanks for the Michigan love, Rich. I love Sam! Rookie season and he's the best TE in Lions history...at least in my 52 years.
He’s the epitome of the player type that Dan & Glen are wanting on the field. Roll up your sleeves, hard nose humble professionals.
I thought he was exaggerating -- Dan Skipper is indeed 6'10"
