    I found you videos for ideas and techniques on my NL army. Not only are your videos EXTREMELY well put together and edited, you also give great tips and I find much joy and amusement just watching your videos or using them as background noise when I am doing the job of a servitor at work.

Good luck with your Night Lords, I have a new video about a Night Lords Contemptor coming out in a couple of weeks, where I show how I painted flayed skin 👍

    Wow,
    in my opinion this is the easiest and most comprehensible painting tutorial for Night Lords and CSM in general...!
    It is also very pleasant to listen to you, voice and background music fit very well, thank you very much!
    Now I'm even more looking forward to the new Night Lords Kill Team...!
    Once again, thank you very much and have a wonderful Christmas!

    Wow, for the second time today I was really impressed by your tutorial. I will have to give this a try. I had told mysel f I wasnt going to like metallic Night Lords after 30 years of painting them in normal dark blues.

      Wow, thank you so much! 😄 I hope you have fun trying it out. I've gone back and forth when it comes to painting Night Lords, they were my first army over 20 years ago and I've painted them "normal" too. But in 30k I saw some cool metallic ones and wanted to try that. You can get smoother results with an airbrush and that would work great for the new beakies mk vi coming out. But for CSM I think this is so much quicker, due to all the trims!

    Don't own an airbrush but the simplicity of the scheme combined with how well it turned out makes me want to find a work around and paint up a relatively quick night lords army, loved the way you explained the thought process behind your choices.

    • @KabinMiniatures
      @KabinMiniatures  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thank you so much, good luck with your painting! I don't think an airbrush is 100% required here. Just replace the zenithal highlight of silver with a drybrush instead, focusing from up above. If you still want to do the gloss varnish step after that, you can always do it with a brush or spray can 👍

    • @KabinMiniatures
      @KabinMiniatures  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      I primed the model with Leadbelcher spray. If you don't have a silver spray, you can just prime it black for example, and paint/airbrush on a silver paint after that.

    Great video! Love the end result. I’ve been giving this a try myself, i skipped the zenithal and I feel it makes a huge difference… mine is soooo much darker 😫 maybe leadbelcher on its own is too dark?

    • @KabinMiniatures
      @KabinMiniatures  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thank you so much! Yes, Leadbelcher on its own would be quite dark, I imagine. If you don't have an airbrush, I would suggest drybrushing or layering with Runefang Steel, focusing on the top parts. It doesn't have to be pretty, as it'll be covered up by contrast and shade paints anyway. 👍

  • @balkenkreuz2063
    @balkenkreuz2063 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    You know, thanks to your videos I just realized that the new CSMs are way more versatile that I originally thought! I spent quite a few dollars buying raptors/talons kits and bits to make a decent enough host for my NL when, as you just shown me, I could as well have just added jump packs to my marines to do the trick, LOL.

    • @KabinMiniatures
      @KabinMiniatures  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah, I really like the new multipart kit we got a couple of years ago! Much more versatile than the Shadowspear ones, which makes it easy to do Raptors/Warp Talons. Before that I was trying to do true-scale NL with modified MKIV armour, which was a pain in the butt... The proportions of the new CSM models are so good that I just couldn't use the older plastic Raptor/Talon bodies anymore. While the poses are great in that kit, their age is starting to show in terms of their "squatiness".

    Hi Kabin ! :)
    I'd like to adapt this colour scheme to paint 6mm Night Lords for Epic Armageddon. Is it a good idea to stay with metallic colours or is it better to only keep mat ones ? :)

    • @KabinMiniatures
      @KabinMiniatures  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi there, I'm glad to hear you want to try out this method! Hmmm, at that scale I'm not sure if the metallic effect will show up much? Not sure. I guess that it could work with an off-white undercoat as well (like Wraithbone). However, then you would have to paint the trims with metallic colours after the armour. Maybe do a test and see what you think?

  • @CapAdGroup
    @CapAdGroup 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

    How would you handle large surfaces like tanks. Ive noticed that contrast paints dont seem to like large flat surfaces.

    • @KabinMiniatures
      @KabinMiniatures  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@CapAdGroup I've found that, too. Either I'd airbrush it on (you can see examples of that in my 30K Night Lords series) or experiment with diluting the paint and applying it in multiple coats.

    • @CapAdGroup
      @CapAdGroup 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I just painted my first model. I got to the druchi violet stage but as i was applying it i noticed the blue contrast paint started to come off. I think its because of the varnish layer. Have you encountered this before?

    • @KabinMiniatures
      @KabinMiniatures  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @CapAdGroup Sorry to hear about that. No, I've never had Contrast paint reactivating or chipping off (unless it wasn't properly dry). I'm not sure why that would be happening? I used the old version of shades (before they changed the formula), but that shouldn't make a difference, I would think... Maybe skip the varnish stage then, if you think that's the problem? The new Nuln Oil formula flows into the recesses quite well, so it's fine to use without gloss varnish I'd wager.

    • @KabinMiniatures
      @KabinMiniatures  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Longhorn1228 thanks, that's an old video on my channel. That colour scheme used an airbrush to do a gradient from black to blue on the armour and then edge highlighting with a normal brush. After that it's traditional metal trims etc. Takes a lot more time than the metallic scheme. • @KabinMiniatures

      That is a risk with large, flat surface areas. If you own an airbrush, you can definitely apply it more evenly with that. I use that with my 30k Night Lords here on the channel 👍 If you don't have that, maybe try applying several coats, more thinned down, to even the streaks a bit? Haven't tried that myself, though...

I don't think GW have changed the formula of the "old" contrast paints... the only thing I could think of is if the bottle still had pigment on the bottom and wasn't properly mixed.
