- Messiah (HWV 56), the English-language oratorio composed by George Frideric Handel in 1741, is structured in three parts. The wordbook (also called libretto or text) was supplied by Charles Jennens.
Part I begins with the prophecy of the Messiah and his virgin birth by several prophets, namely Isaiah. His birth is still rendered in words by Isaiah, followed by the annunciation to the shepherds as the only scene from a Gospel in the oratorio, and reflections on the Messiah's deeds.

Fantastic Production of the life of Jesus Christ!
Powerful. Super tonality. Flowing. Punctuality.
What a heavenly performance, a string Orchestra replaced by 5 organs! God bless all People of Ghana. Blessings from Holland
This is Heavenly, God Bless this Group.
Today, I listened again to selections from the Messiah, performed by Gramophone. So much energy--an energy that is infectious. I was deeply moved again! More so than by any other performance I've heard.
As I listen to this again. I ponder the amount of practice and discipline that is required to perform this piece.
I was present at this performance and i came back 4 years to watch the whole show on TH-cam, Gramophone is exceptional!
God bless you all for this. Kind regards from a Tanzanian brother.
Just thrilling! Glory to God in the Highest!
This is my favorite version of the Messiah on TH-cam, and the one I like to use to teach the book of Isaiah at my church. I love it for the excellence of the music, for actually showing the scripture references, for the obvious heartfelt spirituality of the singers, and, as an added bonus, an opportunity for my young people of color to see themselves reflected in African excellence. With love from Los Angeles, California.
Absolutely brilliant and beautiful. Well done!! Glory to Jesus Christ!!
This concert was absolutely beautiful, it brings back so many memories when I sang on the church choir as a teenager. Amazing talent is in the Gramophone Chorus, I pray they continue to inspire others with their amazing gift.
Listening to this December 23 in Los Angeles, 2023. I grew up attending the Messiah sung by the Arizona Chorale in Tempe, Arizona. My mother with her stunning soprano voice sang in the chorale all my life. I had the incredible privilege to visit the beautiful church in Dublin where Handel first had this performed, and where the congregation was so moved at the conclusion of the Hallelujah chorus that they spontaneously rose to their feet in thunderous applause, establishing a tradition now two centuries old.
Thank you for sharing the grace of this incredible performance with the world.
Psalm 150
1Praise ye the LORD. Praise God in his sanctuary: praise him in the firmament of his power.
2Praise him for his mighty acts: praise him according to his excellent greatness.
3Praise him with the sound of the trumpet: praise him with the psaltery and harp.
4Praise him with the timbrel and dance: praise him with stringed instruments and organs.
5Praise him upon the loud cymbals: praise him upon the high sounding cymbals.
6Let every thing that hath breath praise the LORD. Praise ye the LORD.
God bless from Oregon, USA!
Gorgeous! The young men on the keyboards/full orchestra are EXTRAORDINARY✨✨✨
Thank you my brothers and sister from Ghana. This Handel was truly inspired by the Spirit of God. This is the Gospel of truth told in Music. The entire life of Jesus in beautiful voices of beautiful people of Ghana.
God bless you all.
Good performance I sang this Works for almost 6-7years under the leadership of my late conductor Michael Rantho
I was singing all the contralto aritarios in this field
"Comfort ye" has always been my favourite aria from the first time I heard the Messiah. Listening to this young man brought tears to my eyes and transported me to heaven. The keyboards in place of a full orchestra is an amazing achievement. I will come back to this often. Thank you Gramophone, thank you 🇬🇭!! From a grateful Zambian 🇿🇲
This is music worth more than a million times millions views. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
La meilleure interprétation que j'ai jamais regardé! Bravo. ce chef d'oeuvre dégage tellement d'émotions et nous transporte directement vers la félicité.
Merci infiniment
I am an organist in India.I have sung Messiah since 1965 for many times. The key boards are amazing. The soprano - - she sang like an angel. The be honest, your choir is angelic. God bless you all.
Thanks boss u are welcome
WOW, I LOVE THE ALTO GUY... HE'S SUPERB
Hallelujah Amen 🙏
WOW...
🎼🎵🎶🎵🎹🥁
Awesome performance of the Messiah. Bravo 👏🏽
Soli Deo Gloria!
I love the orchestra 5 keyboard concept.
Peace on earth ! Peace, Peace, Peace.
Be and stay blessed my brothers and Sisters.
i love the smiles on their faces while singing. thank you so much, you all put a smile in my heart and face by doing this outstanding performance 🥰🙏
Having sung Messiah with a big London choir, such a privilege, I know the music well. The chorus "His yoke is easy, his burthen is light" is technically the most difficult (in my view) and often not included as a result. Their rendition is splendid, sharp and joyful. These performers love doing Messiah, I am sure they worked incredibly hard to achieve such a good performance. Pure joy on my side.
One of the most beautiful, magnificent performances of Handel’s Messiah I have ever heard!
Falarei em português, indiscutívelmente uma das melhores obras musicais de todos os tempos
The Everlasting Father, , , , & , , , The Prince of 🕊️
What a wonderful rendition of a marvelous and holy work! I applaud the amazing art of this wonderful group and their heart-felt faith in performing it.
The alto !! stunning !!
A HUUUUUGE FAN OF GRAMOPHONE GHANA RIGHT HERE!!!!!!!!!!!! Instant love, the first encounter. Thank you from South Korea!!!!
It took a while to realize that this is not a full orchestra. This is beautiful
We have been blessed by this today on our Zoom church in a corner of the UK. My heart was taken up to the Lord.
The whole thing is amazing!!!!! Like heavenly host of angels!!!!!!!! Thank you 🙏
This church is worth a pilgrimage. They've build it and now people will come.
Delightful, dear brothers and sisters!
You BLESSED us all! Thank you for so joyfully declaring the glory of our God!
*Wow. Splendid. An hour has never felt so short.*
The soloist Ebenezer Antwi is jewel. Beautiful voice coming from rising Africa
I ALWAYS listen to Handel's Messiah Part 1 EVERY Christmas Season! I just discovered this amazing choir from my homeland Ghana this 2023 Season! Thank you, Guys! You make me proud to be a Ghanaian! BTW One of the best, best renditions of "Rejoice...." I ever heard! Not to mention the "He shall lead His flock" The Counter-tenor is totally world-class! Good job all of you! Bravo! Bravo!
Yes!!!!!! the symphony part is absolutely spot on!!! Can't believe the crisp sound from keyboard ….baroque style!!! I've sang
Handel's Messiah 7 times ( alto) and I have to say
the talent is jaw dropping.
“He shall purify” … best I’ve ever heard in my life
Thank you very much for giving the world this comforting beautiful concert in these Covid-19 times! Only He can comfort mankind and proved so by giving his precious Son Jesus. Brothers & sisters, God bless you all! 🌷 Love from Holland
Будьте благословенны, Санкт Петербург ❤❤❤!
Thank you for making my day. I woke up with For unto us a child is born in my heart sung as chorister in church many years ago. Unique performance 👏 👌. God bless you all for blessing us 🙏
When seeing and hearing this performance, I'm proud to be a human being. When a group such as this appears on our planet, I know that remarkable forces have been at work. This performance featured an outstanding choir, soloists, keyboardists, and conductor. Everyone was full of energy and joy! This is now my favorite performance of the Messiah. I am the choir director at the First United Methodist Church in Grants, New Mexico, USA
Oh my goodness, the counter tenor is magnificent. I am completely mesmerized by this performance . Thank you Lord for bringing me here.
WOW!!! Love listening to this choir and keyboard is amazing!
You are perfect ! Thanks for this performance! Beautiful!
Handel is my favorite composer ❤.
Yes, and we waiting that our Lord comes.
Thrilling rendition of For Unto Us a Child....Gave me goosebumps. What a fantastic performance of Messiah - the synths are so ethereal in sound, very other worldly, and the performers look like they are so enjoying themselves.
I am seeing this video for the first time. This choir is dynamic. Beautiful voices and wonderful musicians. I loved all of it. The Handel's Messiah has been my favorite Christmas music from since I was a child. Every year at Christmas time I try to attend at least one of the Handel's Messiah performances. Bravo well done!!
I love the orchestra, the 5 pianos are amazing and beautifully presented, ministration and unique voices ❤🎉
Unbelievable performance of Handel's Messiah. Wonderful! This shows hard work pays. There is no doubt these brethrens spent sleepless nights and sacrificed their personal lives greatly in order to produce this!
right , right and 1000 times( X ) you are right Chris Kanyane . that's my opinion also :" a lot of work " and so incarned . I 'm cellist and traverso 's player in France : i know every day the difficulties to play correct (just , good ton etc ) . As white man : that's not naturel (obviously) and easy to product in Africa or here in Europe this oratorio . They have made a very good work : God bless Them and you too Chris
Isn’t this incredible!!! ???
Beautiful voices, music, and all for the glory of God. Let your talents praise the Lord. God bless. I enjoyed it very much.
YES! hallelujah with my Christian brothers and sisters way over here from Florida . thank you for uploading this.
This work lifts my spirit whenever I listen to it 🥺
Definitely,I agree with everything said,a fantastic performance by this Choir, technically spot on, nice feeling, vibrant, diction is clear, conductor and instrumentalists lead and manage to complete Choir performance, together with Soloists.
Excellent, uplifting and inspiring.
To discover this on Christmas Eve day was a great joy. We can never have enough versions of this masterpiece so thankyou Ghana for your superb contribution. Bill Taylor. Scotland.
Wonderful rendition shows a commitment to a spirit of excellence !
heart ❤wish to be among this choir ❤️❤️
Jesus: fully God and Fully Man....SO beautiful, as is this video!
The first essential is the knowledge and discernment that messiah is not a performance, but a dedication, as such it is glorified by believers who’s joy is observed in this recording.
Wonderful! Beyond the very high level of the rendition I am moved by the intensity of everybody's committment in singing , playing and conducting this Haendel's masterpiece.Every single singer and every single player seems to believe with all is mind, with all his heart and with all his strenght the words from the Holy Scripture they are singing and playing: Awesome and really encouraging to me. We are the old, skeptic and tired Europe, but I feel that Africa will refresh and save us.
Such a blessing! The more I listen I realize I am nothing & the Lord is everything. I am so blessed I weep sometimes. The Lord is king supreme!
Great singing soloists!
Africa is the mother of all music!
Just simply wonderful!
I am just amazed at the full "orchestra" sound produced by the keyboards. The choir and soloists are delightful. Kudos to the conductor!
Awesome rendition.Glory to God.God bless Gramophone Ghana
This is truly heartwarming. Amazing soloists. Amazing instrumentation. Excellent choir and a Dynamic conductor. God bless Gramophone Choir, one of Ghana’s finest. Keep praising the Lord.
The soprano soloist is on point 😘 crystal voice
Well done alto soloist, sounds like James Bowman
I'm very happy for listening this beautiful and musical performance. Bravi tutti and God Bless you all!;
What a rendition! Simply leaves me breathless. Most beautiful music, most beautiful message, absolute top performance.
yes , true : the message take here all this place . beautifulf message as you vrite
watching from the Philippines. congratulations 🎉
"And He Shall Purify"! A song for our pandemic time! My favorite religious song! "Surely", is my other favorite. I, too, would like to experience this live in Ghana!
Messiah is very dear to me. I sang it twice, and was blessed each time. This production is so moving. The short message during the performance was an added blessing. I would have loved to have been there with you! This is a blessing to the whole world.
Merci merci
What a day it will be when all flesh will sing together around the throne of God . I want to be there and hope that the young men and women in this group will all be there . Jesus died on Calvary’s cross to make it possible. Keep singing the beautiful songs of Zion and God bless you all.
We attempted this at Accra Academy 70years ago with much less distinction. Bravo to these heroes. Ablordeppey.
The first time I hear classic without orchestra. Great piece of work with key boards. God bless.
This is such an amazing performance of The Messiah! I greatly enjoyed it!!
This is by far the best Classical concert by an African choir i have seen. from sound, vocals, accompaniment, delivery. This is magnificent!
chidubem nriagu you should check Nairobi chamber chorus. I do not know if they have their stuff on youtube though
Kindly do share with your friends in Nigeria
How many "by an African ..." have you seen? Just asking for a friend please!
Wow, the countertenor is world-class material with proper coaching.
Absolutely perfect
💕 Dec26th'21 & loving Handel's Messiah! Sung by our OWN brothers & sisters; blessing us immensely here in London 🇬🇧
O Brave New World That Has Such People in It !! Bless All of You !!
Wonderful, magnificent, glorious,splendid and magical.
What a blessing this music is! Thank you to all the people who brought this wonderful music to us, from the live performance to the recording that allowed all of us around the world to watch and listen in awe.
Wonderful anointed performance.
My problem with Handel has always been that he (like me) was an atheist. These people are commited and devoted Christians, And I love them for it. It is superb.
❓️
This isn't true. Research for example, the story behind the Messiah and how Handel came about the song
IT seems to me, that they are not only interpreting Händels music... They are celebrating our Lord himself
Love it, I can finally hear the words. Thank you.
Phew! Better than English school !
Excellence is the only word I can think of to describe this performance. An inspiration to the heart!
oh yes , right !
Stellar performance! God bless you all for blessing us with your talents.
God bless your talents! So amazing performance dear friends from Ghana!
Handel himself would be bowled over by this celebration of his epic work! Ablordeppey
Fantastic performance. Handel and Christ are proud of you. Enjoying from Kenya.

@@eliaskorcia9489 You are correct, and your English is fine. Although, I believe that Africans need not be held to a higher standard. We should all live on an equal plane.
