Old buster didn’t get it power coat paint yet , might have to turn up your valve up little for push power . I know the NASA mechanics got thick up his sleeves. You should need my 3 cycle Cummins on it ( or do you need to ) and a hydraulic pump out off an excavator to . 😊
I knew the old coot was smart but I didn't know he was also fast👍😆 this was really interesting. My neighbor Graham has brought a similar splitter to fix he's a engineer so it was interesting to see a operational model. Most of our old school ones in central Otago are run off tractor PTO and are horizontal splitters great video guys 🥝🙋
It is working very well now. A few adjustments to the relief valve and now it is pushing at a bit better than 11 tons. It isn’t a 27 or 35 ton splitter it is only an 11 ton with speed. Some people don’t understand, it isn’t a power monster. My father could build a splitter that could shear of a 30” hardwood log, but this isn’t that. Lol. I know you know the difference, having an engineer for a neighbor. Lol
Hey Dad, Millie ! Dad did you make the splitter ? Could you show us the rocket ship you are building in the back yard ? I know NASA has nothing on you ! Happy to know a hard working man ! With principles !! 👍
Dad here, thanks for the kind words. I did indeed build this machine. It is working well. It needed some adjustments to the relief valves. It is much stronger now
The only thing I would change is the horse blinders on the sides of the wedge. They don’t really serve a purpose, because they are too high above the wedge. I would move them down to the bottom of the wedge to peel wood off that’s stuck to it.
I love reading through the comments before I chime in. It can be entertaining to see other people’s reactions. I for one have complete faith in Daddy... This is clearly the first run of a prototype, so there’s bound to be tweaking and fine tuning to be done before delivery. I have full confidence that the end user is going to be very satisfied with the end product😎 Bless’ns to the both of ya’s, Tedd
Uncle Phil is certainly happy with it! Got the engine turned down, and fixed the power problem. Took a little getting used to, since before it was your standard 50-year-old vertical splitter, but now it’s just great If you wanna see more of it, check out Allen Family Firewood
He sure is, some finishing was needed at the time of this video. I will be following up with some better videos of Buster. Plus my father is going to be building a S’more Better Buster for us. Faster? Probably not.
It is an 11 ton splitter. A fast one. It could be even faster with more power. More pressure, higher gpm and more horsepower. And of course more money.
That thing doesn’t play around. It’s seems to have Daddy’s attitude. 💪
That’s about right! 😂

It has been turned up and there was a little grinding on the wedge/knife that was hanging up quite hard.

I like it.
FANtastic ! 🪵🪓👍👏🇺🇸 Rick
Dana, where'd you get that? Impressive! YOU'Re impressive. Luv Mum
Thank you Grammy. Daddy fixes things and knows stuff.

Do you have a hyd. Pressure gauge mounted on it ? If so when does the relief valve kick out ?
Nice set up !
No gauge. Though it should have one. The pressure is set at 3,000 psi.
Your father should be extremely proud of that build
Oh he is. Wants one for himself too
It's the axis on crack. It's the craxis!!
That I funny. I wonder if Andrew would powder cot ti for us. Lol
wow that splitter is hungry
It I super fast for sure
Would be nice for kindling
Phil makes pretty small sized wood, so yes it will work nicely making kindling
dana you did a good job
Thank yo Uncle Cecil.

Correct, that is what the owner wanted, against what my father recommended. The customer is always right, right?
@@smorefirewood yeah,….they’re always kinda right,…but only in their minds, lol. He’ll bring it back and ask to have them lowered.
that ol splitter is getting it done, all it needed was a little kick and it worked good, I have always liked that design ,
Yeah, and once he messed with the valve that was inhibiting the power it’s even better!
NO EAR PHONES NO GLOVES NO EYE PROTECTION
That is quite a machine! Thanks for sharing! Blessings, Jeff
Thank you Jeff
That looks like it could compete with some other commercially sold
It is a prototype. But once it was fine tuned it would play nicely with all the commercially built splitters. Right now it’s just not pretty.
@@smorefirewood I am sure it will get there very soon. That is pretty cool.
It’s getting there
It is working very well now
That’s a great splitter 👍🏻
Thank you Mr. Camp!
@@smorefirewood Rick 😜

Speed, has no power..

Quick for sure, until it hits a Knott, thats the way my halverson is, its only 12-1/2 tons of force. 🚜🪵👍🏼🇺🇸
Daddy managed to find the problem with that, now it’ll split a piece of oak in half wrong-ways!
