This takes me back 😂 we used to fo this dessert in cookery class in school. Our home economics teacher used to have us put in fruit cocktail between the sponge amd the ice cream 😂
So easy , yet elegant looking! If I was making them, I wouldn’t be able to resist adding a good, big dollop of that raspberry sauce between the cake and the ice cream. It would make for a nice surprise when cutting into it.
Sounds great, but from a food science perspective not sure how that would work out, the sugar content of the syrup might heat up too quickly & melt the ice cream whilst baking?🤔🤓 Would be an interesting experiment though! 📝 🌡️ If you do try it out please let us know how it worked out Erin, because it sounds delicious! 😋
@@davidmurphy816 my thought was it would also be frozen along with the cake and ice cream, providing enough “insulation” to keep it from melting. (Even more so if they were blow torched!)
Well done Cheryl 👌, they turned out perfectly, it’s like obsessional oven watching 👀😬 while they are cooking, but bet you were chuffed to bits with the results! Hope you forgot about the diet that particular night & tucked in!😋🥄 😉 Thanks for sharing as always & enjoy the remainder of your week. xx 👩🏻🍳🍨✨👌💕💞🩷
Whoa , Cheryl , thats some treat , so easy , icing sugar or confectioners sugar , sifted , would make a great subsitute for caster sugar , great recipe Cheryl ❤😊 Linda from sunny Belfast !
You did a wonderful job! On GB Baking Show, Mary Barry always commented when cooks used a blow torch. Apparently, you don't get as nice a result as baking. Looks fine but the meringue is not cooked right.
@@WhatsForTea thanks , as a lot of recipes say to grind granulated to caster sugar consistency ive always wondered why the dont use icing sugar🤣 thanks anyway x
I love this baked alaska is my absolute fav dessert but so rarely have it and never have made it myself. Its has given me the confidence to give it a go this weekend . Do u think it would work with a biscuit base like in a cheesecake ??
They look great! I'd like to know what size cutter you used please, so I can give it a try too 😊 And did you prefer the one with or without the jam and cream the most?

Haveyou ever used raw caster sugar, it gives a lovely caramel flavour my son uses it for his pavilova
Those look so yummy! In the US, one can use super fine sugar, or powdered sugar in the meringue.
Super fine sugar is the same as caster sugar.
I've never had the courage to try this... it doesn't seem 'normal ' 🤣 Thanks, Cheryl... I'll give it a try ❣🤣

thank you!
omg they look lovely❤ could u use icing sugar???
I wouldn't use icing sugar for meringue Marie 💗
@@WhatsForTea thanks , as a lot of recipes say to grind granulated to caster sugar consistency ive always wondered why the dont use icing sugar🤣 thanks anyway x
Icing sugar has corn flour in it,at least it does in the US it’s to stop it from clumping together.
@@JanetBrown-px2jn thanks for that x

a caramel sauce pour over?
I think that would melt the crusty meringue, kind of defeat the purpose
@@LindaC616 could let it cool a little
@@misolgit69 Or put the caramel sauce on the bottom of the plate. The way she did with the raspberry here and it would not affect the cake so much
