- Role playing games are supposed to let you “role play” as whoever or whatever you want, but these bosses just left us roleplaying as the victim. For this list, we’ll barely escape with our lives as we find ourselves severely under leveled for these challenge, and oftentimes multi-stage, RPG boss battles. In this video, Emil of Nier Automata, Penance from Final Fantasy X, Lavos in Chrono Trigger, as well as unfortunately many more, will have us grinding the night away trying to level up just to take them on. Umm, Flowey is the boss of the PACIFIST route. Genocide route you have to fight Sans which looks way harder than Flowey. He messes with the game and attacks you while you are still in the battle menu. And you have to survive, what, 30+ rounds and advance his dialogue.
You deadass put Flowey over Sans.
Fr...he did...he got some other shit wrong too, first off, its a neutral run, not genocide, secondly, it isnt tricking you into a game over, you actually die there, he just brings you back to keep killing you

Correct in the Kingdom hearts game he's brutal in his OWN game he easily DIES to Knights of the round, Kefka in his own game FF6 is too easy as well.

FLOWEY IS NOT THE BOSS FOR THE GENOCIDE ROUTE.
Did you seriously not play the damn game? SANS is the boss for the Genocide route, and he's significantly harder than Flowey.
Sans is the boss for the genocide route and the hardest. Flowly is the boss in a normal run and is not that difficult.

If anyone from Undertale ought to be on this list, it's Sans.
Lingering Will is only fightable in KH2 Final Mix, which is a different version of KH2, with additional bosses and areas. That is actually a detail worth mentioning, although the latest versions of the game purchaseable is the Final Mix version. However, he supposed to be the hardest KH boss?! Any of you guys ever played KH3 ReMIND? Every boss in Limit Cut Episode gave Lingering Will a run for his money. And don't get me started on Yozora
Ah, but: 3 was kind of disappointing, gameplay-wise, so I know a lot of people who didn't even bother getting the DLC because of it.
I mean: Reaction commands replaced with RNGed Disneyland rides? No coliseum? _No Sephioroth fight?!_ I know they were saving their load of FInal Fantasy stuff for 7 Remake at the time, but come the fuck on!
And of course, fucking _Frozen,_ and a retread of the movie so they could play that damn song again, instead of making an original story, when _Coco_ and _Moana_ are right fucking there, instead of "HAY LET'S DO MEDIEVAL EUROPE AGAIN!" Especially since it's canon that Tangled and Frozen (and maybe even Tarzan) are not just in the same world, but _at the same time._
@@Xunkun I was going to get Kingdom Hearts 3 for my PS4 but no my Brother-In Law and my Sister blackballed me and got me shitty WWE 2K20 well at least I got Final Fantasy VIII Remastered, Final Fantasy XV and Final Fantasy VII Remake along with Mortal Kombat 11 and Mortal Kombat X to make up for not getting KH3.

Yozora was the hardest secret boss in Kingdom Hearts history in my opinion. Still like that Lingering Will (KH2FM) and Penance (FFXHD) is here on the list regardless

Bonetail, Paper Mario the thousand year door. With a massive 200 hp and hard hitting attacks found at the bottom of the pit of 100 trials this boss will not pull any punches and will make you use everything in your power to take this boss down.
Did nobody fact check this video? First of all, Flowey is NOT the final boss of Undertale's Genocide run, that dubious honor goes to Sans. Flowey is the final boss of the Neutral run, and is a cake walk to defeat! Second, I have been playing Kingdom Hearts for YEARS! And I can say, in full confidence, that while Lingering Will is amongst the top 3 hardest bosses for KH, he's only number 3, dwarfed first by the Mysterious Figure in KH Birth By Sleep, and then by Yozora from KH3! About the only thing you got right was saying that the Demi-Fiend is Atlus's most difficult to defeat creation!

You throw your entire army of thousands at him. You ambush him with archers. You strike him in three separate battles of _eighteen_ of your strongest warriors. *He doesn't stop.* He slaughters. He destroys. He envelops his sword in flames even as he has multiple arrows sticking out of his body like a pin cushion. It all boils down to a one-on-one fight between him and your MC. And even then you only win because _he was poisoned and dying all along._
I don't mind a hard boss, but some JRPG bosses are just downright broken. It tends to ruin a game for me rather than being something that makes me want to try again.

Lingering Will isn't even the hardest optional boss the Kingdom Hearts franchise has to offer. The Mysterious Figure in Birth by Sleep is harder than Lingering Will, and even then that's not the hardest boss, the absolute hardest boss goes to Yazora in Kingdom Hearts III.
This list has perfect timing as I had just beat Penance at 9 in the morning. I stayed up all night completing everyones sphere grid and was dead tired when I got into the fight. Took me 3 tries with the final try taking me more than an hour. Knocked out right after 😅

I feel Yozora should take Lingering Will's spot he was way harder.
Out of all these bosses, the hardest one I beat is Photoshop Flowey. I can't believe I did that, as well as the rest of Undertale's Pacifist Route, without dying or turning off the game even ONCE! Of course, regarding the mandatory reload after sparing Flowey, and the occasional, "but it refused," sequence while battling Asriel, that doesn't count.

Lorence from Trails in the Sky was such a tough boss that you don't even need to beat him to continue the game. But if your trying to get the Steam achievement, be very to deal with high damaging attacks, quick spells that can wreck your entire party and him spamming a spell that will block any attack against him once. And the real insane part about this, was that he was holding back a lot
You don't but even at lv 99 on Nightmare mode odds are he will still kill you in 1 hit the catch being in Sky FC you can't even HIT lv 99 in the first place the final dungeon enemies stop giving out good exp at lv 45.

Flowey is the final boss in the NEUTRAL run, not the genocide run. The genocide run has you up against Sans, who is miles harder to beat than Flowey.

Sendai from Baldur's Gate II: Throne of Bhaal took me over 4 hours' worth of attempts to defeat, and most of my party was dead by the end of it. She's not on the same level, but Minax from Ultima II: The Revenge of the Enchantress was a royal pain to bring down.
i remember it so well, playing NOCTURN on ps2 and just thinking ''what am i doing wrong ? why is this game so hard?'' and then the game became my most favorite game of all time.
I haven't played many RPGs, but I found the Valmar Core from Grandia II to be a difficult boss.
There are tons of those tough bosses out there. These are just a few of them. :)
Lavos when you encounter it first time on the first playthrough at 12000 BC via story line you need to be at high level and strong euipments, but is beatable on 2nd round after beating the game.
Penance... f***, just reaching it after beating all of the Dark Aeons is the first tough part. The battle itself against it is a true pain in the a**. :D
Lingering Spirit, hell yeah, oh my goodness... don't forget KH3's and Birth by Sleep's superbosses are way tougher IMO.
Octopath Traveler 2 Galera could have made the list.
The hardest RPG bosses I recall are Ozma, an optional boss on final fantasy 9. Then there is Ultima weapon and optional balls from final fantasy 8 and don't get me started on the emerald and Ruby weapon optional bosses from final fantasy 7. And I thought flowey was the boss in undertale on the pacifist run sans was the one from genocide run
Where. Is. Prince. Mush. From. The. Paper. Mario. Thousand. Year. Door. Remake. On. Switch?! It has been talked about that Prince Mush was the first champion of the Glitz Pit, and when you do fight him as an optional boss in the Remake, the game wasn’t lying! And Goombella’s tattle on him says that he is still rusty, but despite this, he gives Mario and his partners one HELL of a fight!
Ehhn, it really comes down to pulling off parries; drops his defense to 0, so then you can really lay on him.
Or maybe I've been playing Souls games too long on top of Mario games.
@@Xunkun The thing is, Prince Mush is weak to Superguards. But those are DIFFICULT to pull off. If you aren’t good at pulling off Superguards, be prepared to get owned.
about that IMHO between him and Whacka IMHO Whacka is harder but not to kill but to reach the boss it would still take HOURS to redo the ENTIRE pit a 2nd time since doing all 100 floors a FIRST time can still take 3 hours or more and theirs still NO save points at all on Floors 2 to 100 at all.
@@veghesther3204 Well both Prince Mush and Whacka are hard optional bosses, but Prince Mush is hard if you haven’t mastered Superguard, which are his only weakness.
Except it takes LONGER to actually reach Whacka then Prince Mush himself that and theirs really no save points in the Pit itself including the 100th floor and it could still take like 3 to 4 hours to reach the 100th floor even at lvs over 40.
I'd swap out Lavos for Dullahan from Golden Sun 2/3.
Dullahan SUCKSSSSSSSSS. This was the first battle that came to mind when I saw this video.
Demi-fiend in SMTV is actually a DLC super boss. He has no impact on the main story whether you beat him or not but at least the reward for beating him is getting his essence so that way you can add some of his skills to your Nahobino. In Vengeance however his side quest is no longer DLC and if you beat him you not only get his essence but at some point he becomes a guest party member that you can have in your party. It’s like Atlus saying we will not only pull a Pokémon HeartGold and SoulSilver by making you fight a character that you used to control aka a player character boss but we will make said boss available as a party member. Talk about Atlus going the extra mile.
What about Melusine from FFXV? I mean, I know she's technically a Hunt, but damn... I haven't been able to beat her yet!

10:03 if you think Demi-Fiend is that bad enough for you to beat in the vanilla SMTV, then the super boss Satan in SMTVV will put Demi-Fiend to shame.
If the list were more accurate it could be nothing but Atlus bosses. I love Chrono Trigger too, but Lavos doesn't belong here.
The hardest boss I've ever beaten is probably Shekinah from SMT: Strange Journey Redux. Lots of instant-kill moves, has a move called Turn the Tables that reverses the effects of buffs and debuffs, switches between SIX patterns of weaknesses and immunities (and no, you can't scan her to find out, you *have* to memorize them all), and a full-heal when she's halfway defeated. I consider myself a Megaten expert by now but Shekinah game overed me over 20 times before I triumphed.

earlier i didn't think it is hard to beat an rpg bosses from Xenogear and Earthbound! so i beat them once.
The hardest RPG boss for me was probably the Slow N’ Steadies from Xenoblade Chronicles 3: Future Redeemed. You have to face them both at the same time and if you kill one before the other, the surviving one will charge up an AOE instant kill attack. You have to wear them both down at the same time and kill one and immediately be ready to kill the other.
I would say that one boss in FF8 that can zero health your entire party i forgot its name and in FF7 original the monster that comes to destory midgar that is also hard
THE Hardest RPG Video Game Bosses I've ever Challenged Before are Anti Aqua and Xehanort from *Kingdom Hearts 3.*
I know this is a spoiler but read at your own risk. in chrono trigger, if you lose against Lavos, there will be an ending in the game where everything is destroyed.
I’m not sure that this would apply given that these two characters that I’m about to mention are “side bosses” but what about emerald or ruby weapon from final fantasy 7?
To this day, I have not been able to defeat RUBY Weapon. It took me a couple tries to beat EMERALD, but I've never been able to beat RUBY.
When you finally make it to the end of a game, you can't beat the final boss, and decide to just watch it on TH-cam 😂
I had Jeff and Poo die during my battle with Giygas while Ness and Paula defeat him.

Never played 10 but watched my GF beat Penance (goddamn, that took a fucking minute)
Lingering Will (and on hardest difficulty, since by the time I got Final Mix in the PS5 compilation, I had already played the shit out of the base PS2 version, "platting" it on Hard Mode several times over)
And Malenia. Going through SotE right now.

I've only fought the version in the first Valkyrie Profile. There, her difficulty is greatly lessened if all of the party members have maxed auto-items with union plumes. I can't speak to the difficulty of her encounters in other games, though.
That depends on the game 4x bloody armor users 2nd story/evolution/2nd story R or Dead Man Walking role in the 5th Star Ocean game means she can't kill/damage those users in the 3rd game 5000 defense + Spell immunity makes her not able to damage you on Earth/Galaxy mode at all.

I haven’t done this boss yet, but I’ve heard that Raiden Shogun from Genshin Impact is hard to beat. Not only do your weapons have to be at a high level, but during the fight your Vision is taken away, so you can’t use your Elemental Skill or Burst (there goes my Zhongli shield)

because soul is hard BUT fair. demi-fiend, is when the game CHEATS on you. in devil digital, this goddamn sonnvabitch will instant kill you if have the most power skills equipped even you're in max stats (can only be done by cheating btw) and max level, he will kill you an instant. you have to equipped SPECIFIC LOW TIER skills for him not to kill you in an instant. and even you max level and stats, are totally useless because him and his team will status attack you accurately and the worst of all, he will do that instant kill move on you eventually. so how can you win? RESTARTS AND LUCK. yup, LUCK. lol. luck that you can survive that instant kill move, but it will always be one character with 1 hp. and HOPEFULLY you can survive to revive your team and kill him as soon as possible. and that's still relying on luck. lol.

Giygas was a pain in the ass to beat when I was 10. I got my ass kicked by him as I stupidly hit Giygas that is until I realized that I supposed to attack Pokey Minch I hate that asshole as I manage to level the hell up to level 99 and got Poo's Items which I forgot about them since I use to have that Player's Guide that came with the game which I lost it and I have Ness Heal my characters to prevent them from dying and have Paula praying. Also you think Penance is that tough try fighting the Dark Aeons you'll break your PS3/4 Dualshock 3 and Dualshock 4 Controllers when you come across those stupid Yevonites!
i didn't think nyx was difficult just very time consuming with the tarot changes i beat her my first time at lvl 70 now elizabeth and the twins from persona 5 on the other hand is awhole different story.
Am I the only one who thinks Nyx is easier than even Yaldabaoth? I never understood why Nyx is always hailed as one of the hardest Persona bosses in these videos when I always usually breeze by him every time. If anything you should give it to bosses like Okumura or Maruki if we're talking story bosses.

Just because Nyx is 13 phases and the last phase is the only tough one. The original game's Nyx could also do an evil trick where its last phase could Charm your characters, potentially making them use Diarahan to heal it to full HP... meaning you would have to fight phase 13 when it has the HP of all the other phases COMBINED. You could reset, but then you'd have to fight through all 12 of the other phases again, a battle of at least fifteen minutes.

Yeah Lavos doesn’t have 10 phases, you’re reaching. Also you’re saying his name wrong
No it does but only via the Black Omen/End up Time Bucket 1st form but if you fight it at the start of a NG+ run its shell half ONLY has 1 form its just that AT the Ocean Palace its shell half while only 1 battle it has TRIPLE the HP 10,0000 and on a first run at lv 40 its likely to HIT the entire party for 999 damage 5 seconds INTO the fight before you get a SINGLE hit off.

Then its FINAL form Black Omen/End of Time bucket only 10,000 HP to deal with in this final form of the mode change forms it has.
Final boss in dragon quest 7 3ds remake
He's too easy unlike the PS1 version I had 5x lv 99 party members with ALL 54 jobs mastered on all 5 BEFORE you fight the Demon Lord in the 3DS remake of DQ7 so its END game 4 forms is way TOO easy in the 3DS version Magic Burst 2x at 999 MP kills EACH of his 4 forms in 1 turn 2 uses but in order to SPAM it you need the 100% MP restore items to use in between it being killed instantly after 2x 2999 Magic busts hit it .
Penance… Yojimbo + Zanmato = easy
Lavos is TOO easy its only its OCEAN Palace version with triple its HP that is NOT meant to BE winnable in Fact at lv 40 on a first run Ocean Palace Lavos will START with a attack that can do over 999 damage before you get a SINGLE TURN only for that version of it your SUPPOSED to LOSE the fight in the 1st place.
So satan from smt V vengeance is harder then demifiend. Play the games before making lists

Dude, not a single soulsborne boss on here, seriously? Also Penace is hard, but Yiazmat from 12 is far more difficult and time consuming. These lists keep getting worse and worse.
Soulsborne games are totally different, this was basically just turn based rpgs
P3 entry should've been Elizabeth/Theodore as Nyx Avatar isn't particularly hard until the last phase. It's just long.
