The best way for the government to help these farmers is for them to provide rail tracks with refrigerated wagons and stations to all the farming communities to help move their produce to the cities, this way encouraging the loval economy.

We were told in Lagos that tomato crop failed a few weeks ago! The prices are outrageous (triple the price). See the Sea of tomatoes. Someone is running a racket
The prices are up everywhere for both tomatoesand big red peppers. Even here in Abuja, the prices are pretty high. The minimum price is like 500 naira for about 10-15 pieces of tomatoes.

Those tomatoes should not be left under the sun. If left under the sun it ripens quickly. It needs a cooler environment and possibly packaging in cardbox boxes helps. Dousing with cold water also helps
Another great video from a patriotic Nigerian. Nigerian ministry of culture and tourism should invest in your projects because you show case the country and this video is very good for business. It will add value to Nigerians. Good roads and stable electricity is extremely important for commerce and industry in Nigeria. They have started tomato canning factories in both Plateau and Kaduna states but because of sectarian violence and now banditry those operations shut down.

I very happy to see young people, utilizing their strength instead of sitting down bring lazy if you don’t work you un able to sustain your self and your families.
This tomato’s and potatoes farms are reaping all these will happen to all these tomatoes, potatoes and all these other ground products. If they don’t sell They use the tomatoes to make sauces the potatoes to make many natures things like potatoes chips power potatoes instead of wasting them to help feed their country. Look how Nigeria 🇳🇬 is so rich in these rich products all natural why don’t the government don’t help and support them to export their products into the North America 🇺🇸 market. Because their products is more natural than all these things that is coming from China. Because the North American believe only China alone can produce these product. Hardworking farmers and bountiful harvest. The value chain will expand if these agricultural products are processed and packaged/canned. Lots of wastage due to long haulage and logistics issues.
Someone can move to the farms with their mobile grinding machines and jet cookers, grind it and cook to concentrate, pour vegetable oil on top, and then supply to the markets in the south or far north. We used to buy cheap during harvest and preserve our tomatoes all year round.
Is very cheap there, after exporting it to the south. It will be sold for 25k for a basket or more than that. As we speak 4 seeds of tomatoes is sold for 200 naira.
I’m a northern Nigerian but grew up in in london, I enjoyed this so much I even subscribed to your channel, I listened to so many negative things people say about northern nigeria and coming from an igbo person putting this amazing video together I really appreciate you brother! Nice video. For the okra, it can be dried and make into a powder which can be used in soups. This is done in other parts of Africa. The government need to improve infrastructures. There is a lot of wastage.

From what I see a few things are the problem here and a huge opportunity for investors.
1. Product preservation. If one can build some sort of cold room it’ll be a life saver and cash cow literally.
2. Easy logistics and access to transportation for their produce.

Very good work David, the video contains a business/industry that can be considered. Some tin tomato companies in Nigeria import tomato paste for their produce, if a small tomato paste company is set up it can go a long way to feed the Tin tomato industry in Nigeria.

very difficult to see dried okra, people like it fresh..

David you need to use a microphone when you interview people. Often it is difficult to hear/understand what they are saying. The old man shouting to someone while you were interviewing the man in white you said he was in the business for many years, was not helpful. Could not understand what he was saying while the old man was shouting. Really, you need to use a microphone when interviewing/talking to folks.

These products that’s coming from other countries is better qualities and less questionable. Because thing from china is not good quality because it’s all about profit than anything else. However, it comes down to protocol and free trade that is sending cheap goods into the world market. When you see something some some people are wearing and ask where you purchased it they said China it look very different why they purchase it there. And what they send into the North American around the world market is cheaply made and flooded the world.
Get agricultural planes to do this runs daily
What Nigeria needs is agro processing technology for processing and preserving perishable cash crops. We can develop and mass produce solar refrigerators and sell at affordable rates to rural farmers. This will reduce post harvest losses. Things like ginger cam be dried and made into a powder.
I. Sierra Leone and Liberia, extra okras are sun dried, pounded and sold to cook other types of sauces.
We have so many capable entrepreneurs. It’s a shame the government doesn’t invest in the Nigerian population just take advantage.
