    I always thought Cali would be a better environment/lifestyle for you I didn't expect NYC at all 😱 Welcome back to Yeehaw TX. Home is always home 💜

    I don’t think you did your research on NY and that was really your down fall. You should of actually explored and stayed in the city before committing. Also getting a feel of the campus and it’s people from vlogs on TH-cam and commentary online from past students. There are many things to do in NYC that don’t require you to be 21+ to have fun. Confused as to why you only eat out? Also having a fake is a must in nyc. Everybody in the city knows that. Research and preparing in key for choosing a school. I wish many more people realized that.

      yeah, a lot of people just hear the word new york and expect it to be a wonderland. But new york is a rough place, especially if you've lived in the suburbs your whole life and wanted the real college experience with sororities and big campuses.

      @@sabuna733 haha yeh man I’m looking into nyc and been watching every video I can find about college there (I’ve applied and already gotten into some). Grew up in San Francisco and listening to biggie rappin about nyc. Always been a dream to live in nyc. I love night life. I love big cities. Nyc seems perfect. I hope that when I can finally visit its everything I expect it to be.

      not everyone is able to actually go there to visit, then again to move all within a year. but i agree, i’ve seen way too many ppl talk about nyc like it’s going to be a revolutionary thing that’s going to change their life. it’s what you make out of it. you can’t just exist and expect good things to happen to you you gotta work esp when sharing space with like 9 mil people

    Dang, I’m sorry you had a bad time in NY. I’m from NY so I don’t know if I’m biased, but it’s really great here, and there’s a lot of things you can do without being 21. I don’t know about Pace but maybe your experience had to do with the school you were attending or the people you were around. Maybe if you visit again, try exploring the city more with someone who has lived here for a while because there’s plenty to do! ❣️

    I went to highschool in New York and I'm now in college. Friendships are very fleeting here. Most people see you as an opportunity or for convenience for like classes. But I promise the real friends that you do make here will last a lifetime.
    I really think New York for me was only bearable because I have so many cousins here around my age and family in general so I never really cared so much about the lack of true friendship.
    I came from the Caribbean with a lot of space and a very catered to lifestyle. Coming to New York was definitely an eye opener but for me I think it's really worth it. At this point, where I'm from has honestly become too slow of a lifestyle for me. But I'm thankful that I have the choice to go home when I need to relax. 🤍

    I’m proud of you for taking action in ensuring you were happy. I wish I had transferred from my school, but my family and counselor said just to finish, because the school’s name held a lot of weight for my degree. Definitely my biggest regret.

    • @sarahf1107
      @sarahf1107 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Why did you regret going to Pace University? Or did u go to another school?...

    • @ReasonToVlog
      @ReasonToVlog 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@sarahf1107 i went to a different school, but I regret going to University, because I was not passionate about any of the majors they offered (changed my major twice). I also dealt with homesickness and issues in my interpersonal relationships that made being there miserable. I don’t even use my bachelor’s degree (and the field it’s in requires a master’s to even get paid well). Today, I’m back in college for the third time. 🙃 I go to a community college now, which is way cheaper than all the money I spent at a University. Also, the general education courses were really difficult and I received bad grades in them. At my school now, I’ve had to retake these general education courses, which has increased the time I’m in school. I wish I went to a community college or a trade school straight after high school and saved both money and my metal health.

    I can’t believe I’m crying right now lol. When you were describing how much you started to miss home, like a constant feeling of it too, that’s like my state of mind rn. My home state is NJ & Iattend Penn State because, like you, I wanted to get the hell out of NJ... and I think it mostly has to do with Covid but I feel so sad being here... being four hours away, not having a car, not having a roommate because she decided to stay at home for the first semester, barely having a suite mate because she goes home on the weekends (like 2 hrs away) but that turned into weeks bc she has zoom classes and I basically stay in my dorm all the time except to leave for two in-person classes. The way you’re describing how you felt... is literally way I’m feeling rn and I’ve kept it bottled up since I got to my campus back in August and my family kept telling me to make friends and I just never really felt up to it. But I’m scared to tell my parents and family because it took a lot of time and money to get me here but I really feel like I made the wrong choice of being here... in fact, I actually sent a deferral request for Pace bc I applied & got accepted before but declined and it was my second option that I was choosing along with Penn State. Like I know it’s only barely Mid-October but I don’t want to stay here... Like I just want to go home 😭 And I started to second guess the whole idea of my being at college in the first place... it’s just a mess.

    Big cities can seem cold and unfriendly at times, especially a fast-paced city like New York. If you knew someone from NY before you arrived, I promise you, your experience would have been so much better. You can swap New York for Paris, London, Tokyo, and other large cities - if you don't have contacts there, it's on you to be adventurous and explore all that these places have to offer.
