This was my first time driving a car without a windshield. Thanks to Oil Stain Lab for making it so damn memorable. I got to see it at SEMA with the top on and almost didnt recognize it haha
bruh, I've been watching top gear since I was a child that didn't even learn to speak yet, then I've been watching rob dahm for the last 4 years when he started working on his awd 4 rotor rx7, in the last year I've been following oilstainlab and followed the progress from nearly the start...WHAT IS HAPPENING HERE!!! I wish when I'll start working on my own projects to be as succesful as these awesome people!
Nikita & OilstainLabs has a different kinda coolness, the 'Half 11' is utter badass! When asked if this car drove how he had imagined it to... To reply, well it's a little more rattly was hilarious and I loved that brutal honesty! It's cars like this that should be the superstars of the latest generation car enthusiast/racing games. Instead of keeping giving gamers generic manufacturer options, or dull electric models of the latest cars which often have no soul! As someone that loveS cars, engineering and automotive design... this was EPIC!!!
I'm right up the freeway from these guys and never knew they were there! I've seen a few of the cars they have in their showcase driving around SoCal....
The Riviera Blue 993 GT2 in the corner tells me these guys have an unlimited budget. Great concept. The only things I'd change is I'd add a de-stroked high RPM Ls7 and a small windshield 😅 but it looks like a fun go-kart type car
@emptymannull very nice. And yes, but then we're adding a few hundred thousand dollars for an RSR. I'd just be happy with an Arena Red 6-speed Carrera 2S that I could put a GT2 widebody kit on. But nice 993s are becoming unobtainium, for us poors.
I didn't realize throwing a 911 fascia on a GT40 kit car chassis and tossing an LS with a fancy exhaust constituted a "custom Porsche". Color be surprised.
I remember this guy being an absolute tool to people on Instagram for telling him how stupid that rollbar is. Having harnesses paired with that rollbar is even stupider. If that car goes over, youre dead or paralyzed. No windshield is dumb too, but you could wear a helmet. nothing excuses that rollbar though. you can tell that "ultimate drivers car" was made for Instagram pictures and cars and coffee appearances. Maybe a glory run for pictures at a track. Hipster cali car build.
How miserable is your outlook, that you look at all the creativity, build hours, and effort that went into this, and discount it as a “Hipster cali build”?
@@joshcorvettewell ok, I think his impression of the guys character definitely colored his opinion. Which is fine imo, character counts. That said, the fact is that the rollbar is utterly useless. Definitely some form over function on that machine. Though I can appreciate it myself.
"Also the sound is like... pretty cool" I don't know how he stayed so calm but I would have freaked out because this might be one of the best sounding automobiles ever to be created...
Really great interview! From the long-hold shots of the car at different angles to a host whose approach doesn’t crowd out the personalities of those he’s interviewing. I enjoyed this one. Maybe this will be the prototype for the next American exotic. And since they’re twins, I think it’s only fitting that the next iteration sport twin turbos. (Sorry, didn’t mean to get all Hoonigan on you.)
It's very awesome and all, but i can't help but think that it should be called Half a Head, because that's all you'd be left with if it capsizes at speed.
Yeah, that's insane. What are they thinking? And no windscreen? Sure, there were race cars without them in the 50's, when risk of death was 100x higher. A few insects in the eyes on a fast canyon road drive, and these guys are history.
Boring I could see, but idk if I would call an LS build tedious. They are put in everything because they are small, light, very powerful, and reliable.
For how mich time was put into that car....I really think it could have been more complete and well rounded...it just seems half way finished, other than the exhaust.
It could be that it is a driving prototype. They were probably aware that this car wasn't going to be THEE car, and will likely build another one like that from scratch and make it better. I like to look at this one as a polished "Mark I" like Iron Man's suit.
“Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it.” I love cars. I love projects, history and memories. This car is as refreshing as classic F1 vehicles upgrading in time and as seriously unsafe. For those who accept the risks may them race with a calm mind.
So glad to see top gear return to a reputable position. Bringing Rob on was one of the best decisions they have made. He is a dead serious builder himself so his dialogue does not sound artificial and he can have genuine interactions with other builders without being the typical mechanically illiterate reviewer.
I’ve been in awe of this project for the last couple of years since I first saw it. It was still early in development, and has since evolved in a different way, but the end result is overwhelmingly impressive! Every part is an opportunity to explore and perfect and Oilstain Lab don’t disappoint! These guys are true artisans and the beast they created is something very special! 🔥🔥🔥
cool idea - very iconic look and futeristic.. but to built " THE BEST DRIVERS CAR " is maybe a bit to highly aimed. Seat position looks uncomfortable and not ideal for people over 1.75
This is one really COOOOOL prototype Porsche !!" I watched this video three time's . East time I watch the video I see something els in the car . Nice Work ..............
Rob Dahm is so right about that LS sound! Very pleasing and intoxicating. Reminds me of when GM entered Indy and used a stock block SB in its Indy race car. 🏎️ am I dating myself lol.
Gull-Wing Half 11would be epic... Keep in mind not that it would roll over, that the Gull-Wing door are able to open, while up-side down. Awesome OutLaw Porsche. The 3RD pedal manual transmission is a requirement. 👨🏻👍🏻🏎️🏁🚩 Rob Great job !
I had dinner with Nikita this year at SEMA. What a super genuine, down to earth and friendly guy who speaks passionately about his projects and passions. The all you can eat Korean BBQ was great, the company was even better!
I like it the only thing I would change I would add a wrap around windshield and I would do something with the back panels add some kind of stabilizers because them suckers were flapping in the wind like wings , And maybe a clear cover for the rear engine.
True, but if you know can you explain why topgear youtube get so little views? I mean they have lots of subscribers and do everything right from editing to choice of car but even small TH-camrs videos consistently get more views than topgear.
While it's cool i still think no boxxer=no11 Them 180 dagree headers❤️ Despite the heart of an 11 missing it's an amazing car for sure! Can't wait to see more!
Thanks for sharing this really cool project! So nice to see people building this kind of car.. Only stems from true automotive passion. I'm so fearful the custom (or even just modified) car scene seems to be slowly dying.
It's like a big go-kart, or maybe like the Can-Am cars from '60s, all mechanical, you can see everything and not a bunch of hi-tech electronics controlling everything, YOU can drive it. Plus it goes and sounds like it goes!
This made me realize a kind of beautiful thing about the end of combustion engines/the switch to electric - the only new combustion cars that'll be produced are by ICE lovers that're anything but a conglomerate car manufacturer and that's awesome if you ask me.
Great design, the coupe should be epic, turn this into a Half 11 singer and you on to a winner. The only thing I did not like was the engine, for me it would have to be a 911 GT3 Gen 2, revving to 9K, that would do very nicely.
Which car would you apply the 'top-chop' mantra to?
Datsun 510 or Mazda RX-2
If you wreck in that you'll become half person
❤ It's different
Anything Rob

didn't realize you're a TG presenter. Legendary
How many bugs did you eat? That would be intense
been waiting for this one for a while Rob, great vid as always
Please Rob. Convince the BBC or BBC America to let you get 2 other TH-camr's and make a real good Top Gear style show
Did they Build a Removable hard top, I thought 🤔 it was a Coupé at SEMA!
Lol 😂
Having Rob as a TG presenter really feels oddly fitting. I never thought I would see him work with the BBC, but it just fits very well.
I did, just not this bbc..... 😂
It’s so weird… I literally clicked on the video because I was like “is that rob!?” 😂
Who's Rob?
I think he fits very well but in a diffrent way. It brings a freshness to it. Just like Chris Harris did
@@madoxmadRob, Chris and Auto Alex for Banter. Could be really fun.
Rob should collaborate with these dudes, add the 12 Rotors to the Half 12, call it Half 11 x 12
Lol I would love to see Rob put a rotary engine in this
Fitting enough fuel in to fuel a 12 rotor would be challenging, to say the least.
Rob is imagining a 4 rotor in this thing. Awesome car guys.
I love the yellow front clip on the silver body. It’s reminiscent of the German BF-109 WWII fighter plane.
It looks and sounds great ! 🎉
But a small low windshield would probably make the ride soooo much nicer and ever look better
The lines on this car are ridiculous... jaw dropping.

Shout out to the audio team for isolating the voice audio during the drive 😂
I'll give you a like for Rob! Congrats man, long time fan. So fitting!
ROB DAHM TOPGEAR I LOVE THIS UNIVERSE AGAIN PLEASE
All fun and games until a bird hits you in the face. 😂
How often does a bird hit your windshield?😊
@@thomasvaughan294 many times over the years. One nearly came through the truck window once, smashed the whole screen. 🤣

Really reminds me of an old 718, 550 and 356 all mixed together with a 1980’s vision of a 2000’s race car
Same, I was thinking this would look amazing with a Gulf livery
@@rileys8741 if you want something crazy
Do the pink pig livery
@@rileys8741 It only needs Porsches 4.0 H6 making 520hp and reving to 9k

@emptymannull You're right, RS Clubsport. Only about a $500,000 car 😏 I'd rather own the N/A 3.8 RS Clubsport (with the GT2 widebody).
Or a Mercury Marine SB4 with that exhaust.
Yeah, that caught my eye immediately and was shocked. Rob didn't even point it out, haha.

Car looks cool, but that was the first thing I noticed, how great that rollbar is at protecting a headless man or woman.
