Fagot Crochet Stitch

  • This is a really fun crochet stitch I would encourage everyone to try out. It looks mediocre but once you start working the stitch you find that it has amazing rhythm, a nice relaxing feel and the look is quite flattering. The Fagot crochet stitch looks great with projects such as scarfs, shawls, blankets, beanies, washcloths, potholders, rugs, and women's tops.

    Thank you Tiffany for all your beautiful stitch tutorials .
    You explain everything so thoroughly..
    I’d like to make a baby blanket in this lovely fagot stitch using Caron baby cakes yarn, it’s a multi colored yarn but very soft for a baby, a size 5 crochet hook is recommended.
    Do you think the stitch would look just as pretty with the Caron baby cake yarn..
    I also want to try the moss stitch with the same yarn .
    Thank you so much again sending regards from Melbourne Australia..

      Hi Georgina! I'm so glad you like this stitch. I do too! This stitch would make a beautiful baby blanket.
      Hmm, I'm not sure how that would work up. What I would do if I were you is make a small little swatch using the yarn, crochet hook and pattern you want to use for your blanket. This will show you right away how it will look all worked up. Great quick answer for you to see if you want to commit to a full blanket or not. 🤗🧡🧶

    • @CrochetWithTiffany
      @CrochetWithTiffany  ปีที่แล้ว

      I would 1,000 x recommend this crochet stitch for a rectangular shawl Irene! What a fantastic project idea. Honestly, I'm not sure what the exact dimensions would be but I know where you could figure it out. Check both Pinterest.com and Google.com for Rectangular Shawl Sizing Charts. Then, to figure out how many stitches you will need in each row I would use my Swatching technique for the BEST answers. Check out my Swatch Series on my TH-cam Channel under Playlists. 😊❤️🧶

    People please remember a word is how you perceive it to be. If you look up a dictionary you will find that the word "fagot" is also an old English word meaning a bunch of sticks tied together and sold in market places. We of the modern world use words to describe a meaning that for hundreds of years meant something else entirely. Maybe the name could be changed but from this video she pronounces the word differently. I really don't think she intentionally meant any disrespect to anyone. I like the stitch but I took am thinking of another name.

    • @CrochetWithTiffany

      This stitch is actually a really old name that once had a very different meaning. Unfortunately, even though time has changed meaning of words there is no other name for this stitch. I did lots of research on this stitch before making the tutorial. I love the actual stitch though and thought it was sad to overlook it.

      Totally get it and it’s one reason I debated doing this stitch. Tried to find if there was another name for it but there’s not. I really like the look of this stitch and it would be sad to just not do it…. So I tried to be as thoughtful as possible.

    • @tracydobson9914
      @tracydobson9914 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Unfortunately the name of this stitch is probably centuries old and the way you are thinking of the word definitely didn't have that meaning back then and you can't just rename a stitch.
