Hopefully Canada will follow suit. It's bonkers here. Over the course of year 1 million people were let in and they want to have 500,000 more each year until 2026. That is a little more than double what was immigration numbers traditionally were. There is also pressure on the federal government to making requirements for foreign students stricter. This is a major issue across the western world. I think part of the reason is they want cheap labour since such a large segment of the working age population can't work due to drug addiction.

The sad reality is only 5 percent of the immigrants enter into Canada as a skilled migrant. The rest enter as students majorly or fake claim of asylum and the worst of all they enter as visitors visa and then convert to either study or work visa. We should only bring in skilled migrants that have a skill we need. I'm 44 years old, when I was younger and I was unemployed we would often take jobs like pushing shopping trolleys, delivering pizza, or working at a convence store, now these jobs are taken by unskilled migrants. To make matters worse these employers prefer the migrants and I can understand why. If you gave 18 year old me a job pushing trollies I would only for for you for 3-6 months before I move on to a better job. When you employ an unskilled migrant they are not educated enough to move on, so they will be working for you pushing trollies 20 years from now. This is why you see the same migrants at fuel stations and convince stores all the time.
Now if a migrant comes to Australia and has a skill we need, and comes from a country that has an education level equivalent or better than ours then these are the only ones we should let in. For example a qualified psychiatrist from Japan would be of great benifit to Australia. While a person from India that left school at age 12 coming here to drive a taxi is no benefit to us.

@cypherpunk12 The thing is that I'm Dominican 🇩🇴 and I'm a USA 🇺🇸 born citizen. I wanted to visit Australia 🇦🇺 during the pandemic and I couldn't because the outbreak was so bad.
I finished college in US after high school and I have a degree + work experience. I still want to come as a permanent resident and then later on I can become an Australian citizen. I'm legal and not undocumented.
Recently renewed my US Passport. My parents came to United States in early 90s. My mom was a permanent resident in US before being a US citizen way after she retired. I'm a US born citizen.
Having been in US my whole life, just need somewhere warm and peaceful. I love Australia 🇦🇺 for many reasons and as a Hispanic Dominican 🇩🇴 the country is like Dominican Republic but larger country with English.
I'm willing to come here if it can get me out of the hell that America is. I can't live everyday hearing crime and politics and just bad stuff. I can still visit US but live in Australia 🇦🇺. I like how Australia is mostly warm all 4 seasons. I felt like the lifestyle fit. It's a way for me and my family to have flexibility of being in two great countries.
My family loves US but I like Australia more. The work benefits and vacation are better there than USA. Even if Australia is expensive, I still make money in other investments that even with a job, I can still manage there despite cost of living rising and inflation. America is already difficult as it is.
Every 1-2 years I can come visit US to see family or Dominican Republic, while I visit other countries nearby. My Puerto Rican friend is a Japanese citizen because of his Japanese wife and daughter. He was a PR prior to that.
I can visit Japan and New Zealand too because it's closer to Australia and could see him too. Even my family could visit me, and they would see Australia from their perspective but to have the family in both countries brings more financial flexibility and living options that are flexible besides USA and Dominican Republic (have other families there).
I was planning on visiting Canada after I renewed my US Passport too. But I'm willing to relocate to Australia and this can also help my family later on if they want to see the country and see what opportunities they can do.

Who, other than the immigrants themselves, gains from population increase?
Is is reasonable to ask the whole Australian community to share the very real costs of immigration, so that a few capitalists can have more people working for them and a bigger return on their investments?

The energy minister yesterday asked the people of Sydney to not use Air conditioners, dishwashers etc yesterday as the electricity grid cannot cope. This is due to the massive population growth that gas affected everything from high rents, high house prices, traffic gridlock to basic services like public transport and hospitals and schools that cannot keep up with the massive population growth. Sydney is full, people would be better to look for a different city than Sydney or Melbourne if they want to come to Australia.

Australia economic are very bad now. If take in more refugees, the economic will worsen😢
Australia need to learn from Singapore, why Singapore economic so strong and is the best country in the world; because Singapore is refugees rejection country, very sensible country👍

    • @leenathayil2039
      @leenathayil2039 ปีที่แล้ว

The reason is because Singapore is a very small country. That's why it cannot accept refugees even though people in Singapore and the government feel for the refugees' painful situation. There is lots of sympathy towards refugees but the country is way to small to accommodate.

    Good day,
An immigration agent told me that all people who applied for 482 visas outside Australia are in for a disappointment as the Immigration Department is NOT prioritising offshore applications. This means the processing times are going back to the previous 3 to 6 months timeframes. People getting 482 visas in a few days or weeks is NOW A THING OF THE PAST in 2024.
This immigration agent says he is 100% certain as he has people 'he knows in the department'. Not sure how true this is but if it is, this is bad news for you people waiting for those 482 visas. Your employers might probably retract on those job contracts.
