Hi Cyster! Today you'll learn all about birth control and whether or not it's your only option with PCOS! Let me know in the comments if your doctor threw birth control your way without any explanation!

Yes!!!!!! I was diagnosed in 2014 right before I turned 24, and my doctor threw pills at me and told me to lose weight. I started moving my body daily for 15-30 minutes, eating clean, unprocessed foods, cut out HFCS, other sugars, and artificial crap. I noticed the pills still made me gain weight, my joints started hurting, I had a constant headache on top of my head, I was always moody and depressed told my doctor twice and boh times she tried to throw metformin at me and I said "nope I'm done you aren't listening to me, I want answers not bandaid guesses or solutions" and walked out. Quit birth control that day and within 5-6 weeks got my period, lost 10lbs and thought okay I'm healed! Quit eating clean and got lax with exercise, started gaining weight again getting symptoms back, and noticed maybe the lifestyle change was making a difference. Hopped back on the fitness wagon and lost 86lbs in a year and a half kept that off for 3ish years, had regular periods, rarely had PCOS "flare ups" then got pregnant naturally, huge surprise and blessing! And while pregnant I still exercised daily, ate very clean and maintained a healthy weight during most of my pregnancy only gaining 37lbs...... Then had an ECV 5 weeks before delivery and swole up-gained 90lbs total during pregnancy-had my son February 2020. Continued to eat clean, exercise daily after birth, was losing the weight and got my period like clock work for 6 months after having my son and was tracking my cm and temps to avoid pregnancy. My husband and I decided we wanted to space out our kids a few years so I got lazy and got on birth control cause my body seemed normal after giving birth almost as if the PCOS was gone and I thought it would be ok with my body.... WRONG, WRONG, WRONG!!... I noticed hellish side effects of the pill and even insane weight gain... But when I went to the doctor about the side effects they told me it wasn't side effects it was "thyroid issues so, keep taking the pill well test you in a few days for thyroid and provide a prescription if necessary". I thought oh hell no not again. Got off birth control in May and my periods are normal, symptoms gone, mental health great and I still maintain a healthy clean eating, active lifestyle. I have 20lbs left to lose until I am at my goal, Slow and steady 😁

You are heaven sent!! I just recently got diagnosed with PCOS and I am trying to figure out more about it and your videos are so in-depth and clarifying. Thank you so much!!! Hopefully I can lose this weight and start getting healthier because I am trying to conceive in the next year! I already have a 12 year old so I know with dedication and discipline it can happen!

I'm so happy I found your channel!! I got diagnosed at 17 due to having periods every other month. I got put on BC pills and tried for almost a year and felt debilitated with migraines. So then I got on the ring which caused the worst drying pain inside 🐱. Then after a couple years, I got put on the Mirena. I was given a pull to open up my cervix so that it would be so painful when inserted. For 7 years I stayed on it, but decided I wanted my body to have a cycle again, and I also gained so much weight by that time, doubled. So then I had irregular bleeding for months and the obgyn told me that until I lose weight, I need to be on bc in order to shed the uterine lining every month because pcos can lead to endometriosis/ endometrial cancer. So I went on POP for a year. And now I'm here, trying to learn what I can do. I believe that my body can heal itself, and that this condition doesn't have to be such a burden.
I'm hoping now at 30, I can take control of my body again and be a better steward of it.

My daughter is 13 and was recently diagnosed. Her doctor is pushing for the “baby pill”. PCOS unfortunately runs heavily in her father’s family. So, I’m looking into all natural options available because she’s just too young in my opinion to be on birth control. We’ve started to cut back on dairy, gluten and sugar. It will be a slow and hopefully steady climb in the right direction.

I got to know about my PCOS in 2018 . That time I didn’t know about birth control . So I was doing the seed cycling, yoga , some other exercises , cardio and healthy diet . At the first 2 yrs I was feeling so good and I was getting my period almost every month on time . I was dairy off and gluten off since 2018 But in 2020, I got some other health problems like hemorrhoids and endometriosis. So I was in period pain every month for 1 year . I did everything but couldn’t get over with pain . But I lost weight and my skin was good. Only issue I had and I have still is hair loss . However, since 6 months on birth control pills and I have no pain no cramps no bowl pain during my period. So I think birth control helps me a lot .

I’m struggling with heavy bleeding and hormonal imbalance. The hardest part about changing up diet is access and affordability. I was on birth control for 3 months, and stopped. My period was lighter, became regular, and I lost weight. I’m considering on going back to the pill just because of food accessibility

I had a horrible experience being on birth control, my periods hurted so bad that all I could do was scream and cry. Then I bleed a lot so I was constantly changing pads and clothes. But I also experience depression I think the last time I was on birth control because I just felt sad a lot. Even now, my new OBGYN were I live is trying to get me on birth control when that's something I don't want.

I found out I had PCOS when I ended up in the ER in 2013 because of severe pain in my right lower abdomen. They saw in the ultrasound that I had an 8cm cyst and said I would need to schedule for a laparoscopic surgery to remove it. They put me on birth control and it helped to clear the cyst and I ended up not needing surgery. But I never was given any education on how to manage my PCOS and was just told to continue taking birth control until I wanted to get pregnant. I found you on Instagram and decided that I want to take better control of my PCOS and to manage my symptoms. I’m considering getting off birth control but idk how I should approach it. I’m scared how my body will react to the change. I’m taking Ovasitol, and am dairy free and mostly gluten free.

I really want to try a gluten and dairy free diet but that seems soo overwhelming! I'm gonna try to give it a shot though. I'm worried if I don't lose weight I will end up pre diabetic. So I'm willing to try anything! It's impossible to get doctors to listen when you are overweight, so maybe if I get back to a healthy weight, they will take me seriously🙄

Hi there, watching your video gave me so much peace of mind. I just got diagnosed with pos yesterday, never even heard of it before and wondering if my gynecologist's instructions are 100%. Basically she gave me a bottle of 10 medroxyprogesterone which is supposed to help force a period and suggested for me to find a birth control to go on after it to help regulate a period. Not sure if I should or not, a little nervous considering the higher dosage ones mess my body up vs this one particular low hormonal one that worked fine but unfortunately a lot of insurances stopped covering it so I don't know which brand to turn to. 😕 ☹️😔
