I was just 5 years old listening to this gem on my father's vinyl disc player and really enjoying it. I'm almost 34 now and still rocking to Deep Purple. This is a brilliant example of music touching your soul without any linguistic or geographical limitations. Cheers from Kyrgyzstan.
The opening of this song is the greatest start to an album ever, just straight into it, noise, massive solos, smashing rhythms, sounds like it's soaring off into outer space but then stops just at the right point and comes back down to earth.

Have you ever wondered exactly _why_ there's no originality? It's because literally everything has been done. But you won't know that, since you're too busy producing all these boomer "this is when they made it right" comments.
Oh my... These were the most powerful Deep Purple ever... The 1969/1973 period was the best, in my opinion, and it's my favorite. Thanks so much guys for this gem. RIP Master Jon Lord ❤️🎹 I have a great little wish to express: It would be great for all of us fans if this great band finally made available on video (DVD / Blu-ray) the famous performances from the glorious and historic 1972 Japan tour (Made in Japan), if there are video footage of the time, for me and for many it would be a dream. Thanks again guys, Deep Purple Forever! 🎹🎸🔥❤️ Happy Holidays 🍻🎅
The last night of the "Made in Japan" tour was filmed and this was unearthed but unfortunately most of it is unusable. They have released all there is including a pretty complete Smoke on the Water. The live in Denmark release is the only full video of that tour available
I love Deep Purple. Love all line ups. But the Mk II has always been my favorite. It actually took me some time to digest and learn how to love the line up with Morse. This video reminds me quite easily why. Though I think all albums with Morse are great, they all miss one simple thing... called Ritchie Blackmore. What a fantastic guitar player he is.
A gem! A gem! What luck we captured this in video! Gillan, owns the greatest vocal chords ever!!! Look at the speed Paice drums and the nifty fingers of Blackmore. What a gem to have captured the moment at a time when music was at the peak of civilisation! I love the way the audience could sit still like watching a Mozart piano concerto :)

I remember the first time I put the In Rock album on my record player and these noises coming out of the speakers changed my life, from that point on I became a hard rock fan.
I love Blackmore's playing. He's 10 feet above the stage. Almost God like. Doesn't excuse how he treated Ronnie James Dio, but props to his technical guitar prowess. Long live rock and roll.
Deep Purple was for a time the loudest band in the world! The audience was lucky to be there, but I'm sure many of them are now deaf! Hard rock with a capital H!
I saw them live in Cardiff university , tiny stage and packed , still one of the best performances I have ever seen , it was the concert where Richie put the heel of his boot through the body of his 335 while playing the Bigsby with his foot ! The things he did with a guitar I didn't think possible . I was sixteen .
