This really was a crazy talented group. Ritchie is talented beyond words. Ian Paice and John Lord have some astonishingly fast powerful hands. Lastly Gillan's vocal range
I am 43. Watched this for the first time on their official VHS of "Doing their thing" when I was 14. This was the music I have grown up with and it still gives me chills like the first time! Probably my favourite guitarist ever . This was very jazzy and funny.
Hendrix for Raw Blues Rock, Page for a carrying soundscape of rhythm and lead, Blackmore for a clean driving unique style infused with "orientalisms" You really can't compare with value judgements. Just pick what suits the mood of day and enjoy responsibly 😉

Think "Castles Made of Sand" or "Little Wing" or "Rainy Day, Dream Away" - hardly raw blues rock. Page was a master in the studio of recording and layering guitars. Although both Hendrix and Page had Eddie Kramer at the controls, Hendrix's producer (Chas Chandler) was always mindful of studio time and didn't allow him to go nuts with each recording. But as a singer/songwriter, Hendrix was unquestionably in a league of his own. One of the best ever.

Несомненно, что это лучшая группа. Раньше во всех произведениях были проигрыши, где каждый участник мог показать себя. Совсем другой подход к самовыражению. Всё меняется. Сейчас нет того драйва. Вы понимаете о чём идёт речь?
A gem! A gem! What luck we captured this in video! Youth and their vitality. Look at the skill and speed of Lord, Paice and Blackmore. What a gem to have captured the moment at a time when music was at the peak of civilisation! I was a young kid when Deep Purple played on the other side of the Earth... and I realised I have grown old now, watching such treasure. I love the way the audience could sit still like watching a Mozart piano concerto :)
only a year passed since i started guitar, and since the last six months im on a daily grind to achieve at least in the slightiest this style blackmore possesed... itll be long and hard, but i wont stop until i can play those notes the way he did, and make my own playing out of his, and till the day i die, i will always praise his work, he is really the best guitar player and every single soul that ever stricked in rock and roll owes him a lot

В те годы я ещё не знал о существовании группы. Все трансляции из-за рубежа успешно глушились в Советском Союзе. Deep Purple - это очень круто ! Безусловно, - это кумиры двух поколений миломанов ! Обожаю эту группу.
Когда парни умеют играть - им пох..., что играть. Достаточно улыбнуться и сделать паузу. А дальше просто подхватить. Импровизация тем и интересна - никогда не знаешь что у кого в голове, но подхватить и не сбиться (на самом деле - не засмеяться, ибо можно всем знакомую, но такую неожиденную дичь разогнать) - это верх мастерства.
The Mark II stuff aged very well. When I heard Deep Purple with Mark I that was OK, but the Mark II albums really blew me away that time. For me that was the true incarnation of Hard Rock.
Deep Purple and Mott the Hoople were (to me) the most exciting UK bands at that time. Led Zep close second. Love the way Ian Hansford, road-manager, the very tall guy in red, looked so matter-of-fact at the backline. "Yeah, I work for Deep Purple - not a bad job!"

Jon was the leader of the original lineup and the band was largely his idea. Chris Curtis of The Searchers contacted Jon and then Ritchie about starting a Supergroup but when Jon and Ritchie arrived Chris never showed. After they went back home it was Jon who called Ritchie and said why don’t the two of us start a band? He was a genius on Organ and Keyboards just like Keith Emerson and like Ritchie is on guitar!

Tremendous performance! I've watched a lot of videos of Deep Purple over the years - Rainbow as well. This is one of the few times where it looked like Ritchie was having fun . . . 😢

Когда парни умеют играть - им пох..., что играть. Достаточно улыбнуться и сделать паузу. А дальше просто подхватить. Импровизация тем и интересна - никогда не знаешь что у кого в голове, но подхватить и не сбиться (на самом деле - не засмеяться, ибо можно всем знакомую, но такую неожиденную дичь разогнать) - это верх мастерства.

The Mark II stuff aged very well. When I heard Deep Purple with Mark I that was OK, but the Mark II albums really blew me away that time. For me that was the true incarnation of Hard Rock.

Deep Purple and Mott the Hoople were (to me) the most exciting UK bands at that time. Led Zep close second. Love the way Ian Hansford, road-manager, the very tall guy in red, looked so matter-of-fact at the backline. "Yeah, I work for Deep Purple - not a bad job!"

Jon was the leader of the original lineup and the band was largely his idea. Chris Curtis of The Searchers contacted Jon and then Ritchie about starting a Supergroup but when Jon and Ritchie arrived Chris never showed. After they went back home it was Jon who called Ritchie and said why don’t the two of us start a band? He was a genius on Organ and Keyboards just like Keith Emerson and like Ritchie is on guitar!
