    These videos are a gift. Thank you. I study them while I should be working during the day, then try to paint at night, and think " I better watch that again tomorrow." Kind of like watching gymnastics at the olympics and thinking it looks easy. You are an incredibly accomplished talent and it is fascinating to watch. Thanks for sharing you gift.

    Love to see how you go about with the details. Your explanations are so helpful also. As for now I'm finishing 3 portraits of my grandchildren... my next painting will surely be nature!!

    Hey Michael, I have been watching your series for quite a while now. I try to listen to what you are discussing while you are painting and pick up the techniques you are using to add some of that to my own painting. One thing I struggle with, and I have tried to find other methods to improve, is color matching in general. I know you don't really worry about it as much when blocking in with the acrylics, but I would like to hear more about your process as you begin color matching with the oils.

    Hi Michael, welcome back! When you spoke of 'glazing' on the water before adding tree reflections...I don't know what you mean by glazing. Is that when you use a median to make the paint thin? Sorry for my ignorance! You mention 'glazing' again when you paint the tree reflections. Thanks :)

    I’d like to see, Michael, how we got from the blocking in stage to this one, as it seems a lot of detail has gone on to getting to this final-ish part of the water? Cheers, and another spectacular picture.

    Great video as always very informative. I love watching you bring your paintings to life. My husband bought me some paint thinner called 'Zest it', have you ever heard of it? It does the same jobs as turps or white spirits but smells of lemons and isn't harmful to breathe, so no more headaches. I thought I would tell you about it incase you wanted to try it, your studio will smell lovely ;-)

    Michael could you tell me why you use liquine instead of oil please thank you, regards Pam.

    • @MrArtist7777
      @MrArtist7777 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Liquine is only a medium, used along with turpentine, in the oil paint. Liquine doesn't replace oil, it only speeds up the drying of oil and adds a slight sheen to oil. Liquine is used by most professional oil painters, for this reason.

      georgepanatha official One thing also, that I'd like to mention... MJS is BIG on the alkyl type of oil paints. That means they're formulated differently to make them faster drying.
      The only reason I mention it, its that he inspired me after a bout with cancer and 10 years away from the easel to jump back in!
      Sad to say, I was getting thoroughly discouraged until I realized where the "flaw in the slaw" was. He was obviously painting in layers (mid-tone under painting in acrylic) with layers dark, then highlights over that using the alkyl oils. Using regular long drying oils in that fashion can easily make mud! I went out last weekend and bought myself a Christmas gift of 15 or so tubes of alkyl based paints - and HOPEFULLY, I can get rid of my, "I LOST MY TOUCH" fears.
      PRAY for me!
