Himesh did such a wonderful job. I suppose the remarks that others were "better" than him in auditions has much truth to it, in that serious professional musicians would not be as believable in a role as a struggling musician. But: (1) could they act with the chemistry and sincerity, especially with Lily, and (2) could they make The Beatles songs their own, as wonderful as discovering them for the first time? Himesh knocked it out of the cricket field.

God bless all the artists! A world without Art would be sad, cheerless, empty.🌷

Thank YOU! Lovely, Lovely Film that was one of the only films I have looked forwards to in some time and saw on its first showing in my area. Mr. Curtis... You never fail to amaze and brighten and DREAM! Mr. Boyle... You embody a youthful exuberance and openness that I do not want to define but always feel! Mr. Patel... I will now have another to look forwards to what YOU do next, and next, and next. For making this life a place where I have the opportunity to actually "Walk in anther's shoes" by way of experiencing your ART... I Thank YOU Again!

Agree Danny. "a triumph of imagination", "a wondrous moment". It couldn't be put better. A really incredible moment in the film.

I grew up in the era of the Beatles but I was not a Beatle fan... until Yesterday came out and gave a renewed context in line with story and after watching Paul McCartney's appearance on Stephen Colbert and the impact of the loss of his mother amd John Lennon's as well on their artistic music making process, it gave me a delayed appreciation of the Beatles music... not all their songs but those used in the movie... Top marks for Danny Boyle and Himesh Patel...

Interesting part in the middle about "Help" as a punk song. When I saw that scene in the movie, I immediately thought "That sounds like The Clash made a cover version of 'Help'. And it is perfect that way".

When I saw the scene of Jack visiting John Lennon I thought it was supposed McCartney and laughed when it wasn't. I thought he was supposed to be sent to Paul McCartney's but then it turned out to be some random person with the same name or something.

In this (somewhat altered) reality, John Lennon made it way past age 64...all the way to 78!

So sorry to DISAGREE with Director Boyle, but Himesh was the LEAST CONVINCING of all the actors in that film. He may be a good enough singer, but he had only one ACTING EXPRESSION, aside from his natural look, which was done by his widening of his eyes. WATCH THE MOVIE and see for yourself the obvious LACK of his acting ability. He did not show any versatility and variety in his acting out of his role.
The MORE CONVINCING ones were the Ed Sheeran, James Corden (who stayed his usual self), especially Kate McKinnon, who played the greedy HOLLYWOOD female producer, Olivia Di Martino who played Carol, who was one of Jack's best friends, and MOST OF ALL, Lily James, who played Ellie, who was by far the MOST BELIEVABLE, so much so that it made her character so ADORABLE. Lily James gave us one FLAWLESS and SPECTACULAR ACTING in that movie.
Her acting out her SECRET LOVE for Jack was SUPERBLY executed by her, with the way she played with her eyes, her facial expressions, her deep breathing when she was nervous or jealous, her movement of her lips, her body language, etc., that appeared so REAL and NATURAL, that one cannot help but fall in love with her character. She made the male viewers, including myself, wish that we had a LOVER like her character. That was how BELIEVABLE her acting was.
Just my HUMBLE but EDUCATED opinion on the acting of the CAST of that super well--made MOVIE that also had such a wildly creative but tight-enough plot to it. PEACE AND LOVE to all.
