I've seen this interview a bunch of times over many years, but this is the first time Plant's parting comment about Page hit me. I know he said it in a joking manner, but it sure sounds to me like he was also vaguely explaining why he had stopped working with Jimmy at that point in time ... drugs, alcohol, etc.
Yes, agree - but I also think it took him years to forgive him not coming to the funeral of his 5 year old son. Just my opinion that all of the band should have been there for him.
Just my opinion for what its worth but I think he was taking a shot at David Coverdale and maybe Jimmy for thinking Coverdale could replace Robert. It was cheeky for sure. He has taken more specific shots later in interviews. Just like some of his lyrics he does not always just say it - which is a thing I think that makes him a unique lyricist. Example the song he wrote after Zeppelin for his son who died -- I Believe 1993. TY.
