I don't understand why Robert Plant did not keep the band that worked with him on Now & Zen & Manic Nirvana - those were arguably his 2 BEST solo albums, in hindsight ............
Saw them live in 1988 - and the energy coming from that stage was indescribable - absolute earth shaking show ....
there are a few clips from that tour, here on TH-cam, one : 'Billy's Revenge' is worthy of watching - check it out & you'll get an understanding of what I mean ......

It's a show from the Netherlands, which may be why it seems a bit diff. than the old MTV format - but i don't have a prob. with this guy - he seems more American than Dutch, though I do detect a slight accent. The programming seems more relaxed than MTV, to me - which is good, in my book. Dutch aren't known for being uptight, to my knowledge ......

I saw him on Now and Zen in 1988. The best show I have ever seen. Manic was great as well. Perfect word " indescribable" I actually saw Now and Zen twice. Sent me on a RP trip for the next 25 years....

YESS! Hard , as a Zep fan, to deny him THOSE years away, Zen and Manic albums and tours were phenomenal (Mr. Page gave a MASSIVE contribution to Zen, of course, hmm...) but in 2000's his absolute insistence on letting Page rot (except for ONE show in 2007 where 'The Hammer' fell SO HEAVY, ONE last time, sadly...) getting even his contemporaries like Townshend and Daltrey to wish he'd work with him again has led Plant to partner with the opposite of his late 80's bands today. Strange 'musicians' whom might be good in studio but bring an almost reverse 'presence' on stage, while Robert goes on about how good it is to be able to play on the same stage with someone who teaches 'community School music courses', HUH?! Wow, LSD at its worst. NOT the drug either.

I'm definitely going to check it out. I've had a hard time finding my way with Robert after Led Zeppelin and it seemed like he was trying so hard to put it behind him. I guess I can understand that. It's 2 years since you commented this but I'm only seeing it now, so I'm going to check it out. Peace

Guns and Roses comes to mind as one of the Zepp alikes. The interviewer is like a lost Skarsgard cousin.

The interview was in 1990. People need to read the description of what they're watching!
I do agree about Guns n Roses though....

C'mon Plant had faced lots of troughs in Led Zeppelin era. He is forced to discuss about it.

does anyone else really hate watching any interviews basically with any celebrities? its not just this one or just interviews of rp, just in general I find theres usually such an air of awkwardness... occasionally there'll be a great interviewer and that won't happen but agdhjdkdnskd like a bit more than halfway through this I'm done watching I can't cringe any harder lol

    • @tammieparrishmiller3669
      @tammieparrishmiller3669 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Agreed! I think it's not only the interviewer though, I think Robert thought he had something to prove in those days after Zeppelin. It seems that way to me anyway. I'll always love Led Zeppelin and he acted like he just wanted to get past it and sorry but that just wasn't gonna happen. I've seen your comments on maybe Soul Train Bro? Peace!

God how I hate the clothes from the '80s! They're trying to bring them back again and I'm not biting. I wish Robert didn't act like Led Zeppelin was so far behind him at that point. He won't ever get away from it because there's a reason they were so huge and that's because they rocked! They are loved to this day and it's not going away! Not ever! I could listen to only Led Zeppelin for the rest of my life and that would be just fine with me! He acts like he's got something to prove here and I don't care for any of his interviews from the '80s. Honestly at the age he was at, he still wasn't as grown or mature as he thought he was. Just my opinion.

Didn't notice how he said he was trying to get strong...? It was still his family situation he was trying to heal from. Also everyone's just a kid. A kid in a wild situation permanently means a wild kid forever. You don't grow up as a child you grow into being one. Yeah, he was pompous here but I can see why. He was trying to have a good time. That's one reason why he mentioned humor. He just had a good energy here even if it wasn't his "true self" this makes sense how it was apart of him. Btw I could listen to zeppelin for the rest of my life too but how does a reunion stop you? Go out and get their music. You're telling me you only want to listen to live performances of the same old songs or do you want them to get together and redo all ten albums studio style? I don't get it. It's done. Let this artist paint his own pictures not the Mona Lisa thousands of times over its not fair. Only creative minds must apparently understand.

Every era has its clothes!! That's fashion for you.!!! Robert's marriage broke up. He had been through a serious accident. And the tragic loss of his son karac aged 5. Plus the death of his best friend John Bonham. Robert had split from the best band in the World. All that fame at 20. He was just a kid. Then all that fame. Crazy life. That destroys so many artists. Drugs, alcohol. Fame.
Robert starting on his own after being in Led zep. Must have been daunting. Plus his personal heartbreak . Robert is a human being. Not a bloody robot!!! Robert was as honest, polite and charming as he always is when interviewed.
How shallow to generalise that you don't like any or the clothes or interviews in the 90's... you can't just remove a decade...🤣🤣🤣🤣. Live in the present moment . Not i the past. That's what Robert does. Always moving forward with his life and music. Unlike some who are stuck in the past in a timewarp. Not real life!!! Life moves on...music and people grow and evolve.. well sone do..!!

A great deal of interviewers and media are total idiots. Asking ridiculous questions!! Robert always charming, honest and polite. Despite tedius media questions. Georgeous guy...Adore Robert Plant...Not full of his self importance like many Rock star's. Robert was always mature ,intelligent, with thoughtful honest answers. To media leeches. I do not like media..But i guess its a necessary for promotional reasons for any musician. Robert 's humour always shines through..sweet georgeous guy...best male vocalist ever. Still is Sir Robert...Love him❤❤
