Rod from GetintheMix and Sam from Pioneer sit down for a cuppa and a chat about the new Pioneer DJ DDJ-1000.
The Pioneer DDJ-1000 rekordbox DJ controller is a DJ controller that fetures a LCD display screen at the centre of each jog wheel and gives up important information such as length of song, BPM of the song and other information. What's really great is that this information is customisable so you can display the information you want to see, meaning you don't need to keep looking at your laptop when you're in the middle of a mix. What's also great about the Pioneer DDJ-1000 is that it's layout is the same as the CDJ-2000NXS2 and DJM-900NXS2 set up so anyone who has used that setup at home or at a club will feel right at home with this controller.

Are the usb interfaces Rekordbox only, or can I route Ableton (for example) into USB b and select deck 4 to run my session into the mix?

look at a lot of DDJ 1000 reviews got to be one of the best, if not the best thx guys.
After 6 years and with the product being discontinued, it is still more expensive to buy it on the used market than it was brand new back then
MY Opinion. Serato will be done in the years to come if they don't get Pioneer to allow them access to all controllers. This is a hot unit. I know people that have already left Serato and use RBox. They are going to buy this controller now. I have mine on order and am switching my library to Rbox. I hope they don't come out with DDJ 1000b. Perfect upgrade from my DDJ SX2 work horse and Great controller. Thanks Serato but I gotta go.

Rekordbox has got a LOT better recently... But I respect a bit of loyalty.... And I'm sure there'll be mapping for Serato available soon! ;)

Seeing Pioneer decided to produce a DDJ-1000SRT for Serato why do they not produce a DDJ-800 for Serato, I have nothing against the Rekordbox software but having used Serato for some time and being comfortable with it, a Serato DDJ-800 would be a sharp move for Pioneer as it would increase the sales of the 800 dramatically for those Serato users that, like me do not need the 4 channels on the 1000SRT, I would by a DDJ-800SRT tomorrow.
This feature-set for the money is an absolute no brainer.
Ummmm...Ok well I have a ddj RZ so this almost sounds like a even swap other than this unit is alot cheaper and so whatvthat the effects are in the unit. I can download effects from rekord box
in this one controller it can not plug external hard drive our usb stick denon it can do that and 4 channel standalone mixer any way thank you for support

whats the difference between pioneer ddj 1000 and pioneer ddj sz is it the same sound card?
At this top end of controllers, the differences between soundcards are essentially non-existent, so not something worth considering. The key differences between these two though is that the DDJ-1000 is a Rekordbox based controller whereas the DDJ-SZ is a Serato based controller. If you're a fan of either this can be a deciding factor.
Additionally, the DDJ-1000 reflects Pioneers club setup (the Nexus range of CDJs & Mixers) a lot more than the SZ, due to the layout, large jog wheels, effects controls etc.

I'd guess because it'd be expensive and possibly go against sales of CDJs and DJMs etc.

GetInTheMix I have a question I can't seem to find the answer for about thi controller, does the MT delay behave the same as a normal delay?
There's not a massive amount in it... We just had a listen and the MT delay almost sounds a little more digital and doesn't have a great amount of feedback (sometimes just one repeat). 'Echo' is the other delay on the DDJ-100 and that has a more traditional echo sound with more feedback. I hope that helps... It's hard to put it into words!!

Do you have any idea why would Pioneer remove the sequencer functionality from the DDJ-1000? Is there any workaround to get this working?
Daghi Razvan Everything in the DDJ 1000 is midi mappable so you could for example midi map the two beat sync buttons to be your sequence record and play buttons.

They've finally answered the question as to why the XDJ-RX2 is only 2 channels. Is there any point learning to mix on 4 channels if it's not 'club-ready'?? 😂😂

Id really hate to say it but them holding out so much and not making a 4 channel stand alone controller makes me wanna go to another brand. Ive waited years and still nothing. Time to move on. I understand why they hold out but still .
They're very much pushing RekordBox at the moment, so I wouldn't be surprised if there isn't something else around the corner.

See, unlike Denon, Pio's not gunna try to shoot themselves in the leg by makin a standalone copy of the Nexus2 setup, so the RX3 prbly gunna suck as much as the 2.

It's hard to say objectively as it entirely comes down to the individual. The CDJ's and the DDJ-1000 are at the top of their respective areas. If you want a smaller, more portable setup and you're happy to be tied to using a laptop with Rekordbox then you'll be very satisfied with the DDJ-1000. In general, you aren't going to miss anything feature wise or be restricted compared to the nexus setup and it's in a considerably cheaper price range.
That said, if you already have the Nexus setup and haven't got issues with its mobility, then there isn't any real need to move to the DDJ-1000 as you would be losing the functionality of it being standalone without the need for a laptop.

@@remedy234 Haha, well in that case then, providing you have a laptop/computer about to connect it with, would probably say the DDJ-1000. It has a great crossfader and the jog wheels will feel the same as the CDJ's so the scratching experience should pretty much be the same but at a much cheaper price!
How is it an upgrade to the SX2 when it isn't Serato...I'm not an SX2 user, just pointing it out and hear a lot of Pioneer people say it. Shouldn't they be saying upgrade from the RX...And why are you comparing to the RR, this is closer to the RX and even the RZ
This has nothing to do with the SX2.
I think they are comparing it to the SX2 because of form factor. The 1000 and SX2 are close in width and weight. Otherwise difference experience. Those CDJ size jogs make all the difference to most people.
You're right, the RX would be a much more comparable unit. I think they're saying it's an upgrade from the SX (rather than RX) because it's a sly way of saying it's worth switching from Serato.

Probably not. They are just pushing RB.

There's no mapping currently available that we're aware of, but that doesn't mean there won't ever be.
8:31 good start, but the sound is so cheesy... as a producer, I'd like the option of uploading my own saw/sine.
This looks really good value for Pioneer. Its got proper CDJ jogs and a mini DJM! Cant really ask for much more if you are a laptop DJ. Compact too. I wish it was IEC power though!
I wouldn't be surprised if there's not something more standalone around the corner. Pioneer seem to know what they're doing and there's a lot of call for it.
GetInTheMix yeah maybe this will be their design style going forward. I bought the ddj-1000 now. Its very good. Its a step up in quality from their usual small controllers.

A key difference between those two is the software used, the SX3 uses Serato and DDJ-1000 uses Rekordbox. There is now a DDJ-1000SRT which is the same as the DDJ-1000 but is made for use with Serato too.
We'd recommend the DDJ-1000 or DDJ-1000SRT depending on software preference as these are newer and inline with Pioneer DJs newest designs/functionality.

The DDJ-1000 which works with the Rekordbox software.
And the DDJ-1000SRT which works with the Serato DJ software.
The controllers are almost the same besides some small changes to suit the software they use. So best thing is to decide which is your preferred DJ software, then pick one of the two DDJ-1000 controllers :)

@@ayadwalid680 The SX3 is only compatible with Serato, there is no real advantage to being compatible with more than one software anyway for the most part.
We would recommend the DDJ-1000 or DDJ-1000SRT over the SX3 as they are newer and more up to date with Pioneers current range.

GetInTheMix why not get 3 laptops...no 4...5..6 laptops. Ive seen laptops fail on me and with the greatest DJs. Have more than 1 way to play music is all Im saying. Never be chained to the use of a laptop to simply play music

No, this unit is a controller only and needs to be connected to a laptop for it to operate. If you want standalone functionality, you should definitely check out the Pioneer DJ XDJ-RX2!
@@GetintheMix I'm looking for a Standalone but at the same time without loosing out on loads of effects and mixer size ext I was thinking Denon mcx 8000 tho I haven't really heard of Denon before are they any good and if so what's better the pioneer you said or the Denon MCX,8000.
@@DavieMcGuire1990 The XDJ-RX2 has strong effects options with the core ones inherited from their flagship DJM mixers, you also get a very familiar layout in comparison to their CDJs. With the RX you'll need to analyse your music in Rekordbox beforehand to get all the bpm data etc. You'll need to analyse with the Denon too, using their Engine Prime software. Denon is a great brand but the effects are a bit more limited on the MCX8000 with just the options of Echo, Noise & Phaser. It's worth noting that whilst it has 4 channels, you can only use 2 in standalone mode.

@@DavieMcGuire1990 That would be down to how much you'd like to budget and how you plan to use them. For example, the XDJ-RX2 is a fairly compact unit which makes moving it around much easier than a 2 deck/mixer setup. If you are potentially going to want a 3 or 4 deck setup then you'd be restricted to 2 channels on the RX2 whereas with the Nexus you'd be able to expand with additional decks depending on your mixer.
If you are wanting more channels and it's budget-able, then perhaps you'll feel a bit more future proof with the CDJ and DJM. But for the money and assuming you only need 2 channels, the XDJ-RX2 will no doubt leave you satisfied, it's just as capable and is a great, well-built unit.
