    I’ve made this cake twice so far and it’s a hit!! I’ve always loved Italian cream cake but could never find a recipe that tasted like the one I had years ago in a restaurant. This one does, The only variation that I made to your recipe was that I toasted the coconut and pecans! Brings out the flavor in both.

    Great recipe!!! Fixing to make my 4th one. All have been wonderful… Our local bakery closed for good during the pandemic and we couldn’t find a bakery that made it as good. Luckily I found your recipe. My wife and daughter HAVE to have it for their birthdays.

    Can you please explain what you mean about beating the egg whites?? Also what did you mix them with before adding them to the batter? The egg whites just moved to a bigger bowl (with a whole bunch of white stuff in it) then you added it to the batter? Thank you for sharing the recipe!

    • @theresasandralandreneau8859
      @theresasandralandreneau8859 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I use powdered buttermilk. It should be on the same shelf as powdered dry milk. I mix the milk as needed & keep the dry mix in the refrigerator.

    Hello. I noticed you didn't add butter and flour to your cake pan. Is that optional?

    • @CrumbsandConfetti
      @CrumbsandConfetti  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ramone Turner Hi Ramone, I spray the pans with Baker’s Joy and usually add parchment paper to the bottom of the pans to ensure the cake doesn’t stick. Sorry I skipped over that part 😊

    • @ramoneturner4347
      @ramoneturner4347 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@CrumbsandConfetti thank you for responding. So, I would do ok, with adding the butter, and flour?

      @@CrumbsandConfetti As you cab tell, I want to make this cake.
      I wasn't clear, on why you incrementally added the buttermilk. Can you please help? Thanks

    • @CrumbsandConfetti
      @CrumbsandConfetti  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ramone Turner absolutely, instead of using an oil/flour mix like Baker’s Joy you can grease and flour the cake pans by hand. I hear butter works just fine but I usually use a little vegetable oil and flour to coat my pans when I prepare them by hand 🖐

    • @CrumbsandConfetti
      @CrumbsandConfetti  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Ramone Turner I alternate the wet and dry ingredients because the butter and sugar mixture can only absorb so much liquid, alternating helps prevent the cake from being too heavy (or at least that’s how I was taught) 😊
