hpi savage 25 will it start

Got this not used for several years, had it running, 1st time discovered roat start wasn't working, 2nd time it was cutting out, 3rd it melted spur gear after slipper clutch came loose, this is first start after reassembled to test drives, it's 36f degrees today, so needed a preheat

The 25 is one of my favorite all time RC. I wish I would of taken care of it like I did my LST & LST 2 because I would of still had it like I do my still all original LST’s.

The one way bearing probably need to be cleaned and the starter pin needs to be brake clean it sounds like they barely caught it common for it to stop working when sitting for a long time 👍👌✌️💯🍻

Take off the one way bearing, spray that and the shaft with brake clean or something to degrease it then it will stop slipping

Thanks, I did this and it worked momentarily, but the backplate was leaking too much fuel so it started slipping again, I fitted a new engine 👍

The slipper clutches suck, I stripped my spur gear from it coming loose on my savage x 4.6 and at some point I want to see if I could fit a new slipper clutch in it to solve the problem

I fitted a new force 32 pull start, takes a lot of pre heating to crank it but what an amazing difference

Where did you get the rims and tires? They sure look sweet!

Thanks, they are the standard wheels, I used a car tyre pen for the lettering and use purple dash trim inserts glued into the gap of the tyre bead 😁
