My opinion is yourcatches is more than enough proof that your theory on how your bait presentation is key to your success. Like our rig we use when drifting for blue catfish is called a Sante Cooper rig. A rattling float about 8in. from the hooked bait, and above that is like a 4 oz lead. The ratting float keeps the bait off the bottom. Aloha from Kansas
Never tired of Halibut!!! Keep em coming! Off topic , I know you rep that SF Giants but I’m about the SD Padres! What we have in common? Halibut fishing and watching our teams beating down the dodgers!!! 🤙🏼 tight lines!!!!
I landed a 33.5 hali in san diego bay 2 months ago in my kayak but I only had fish grips and a stringer. I haven't bought a gaff yet only cuz I don't want to deal with it. So far haven't had any issues.
Any way you could kinda show what gear your using rods, reels, line, set up? In the simplest way for us beginners. Thanks and keep up the awesome videos, you make it look easy
Live squid is my favorite bait. It’s crack to everything in the ocean and I’ve caught some of my biggest halibut on live squid. Yellowtail, White Sea bass love squid and it’s much easier to use then sardines. Give me squid any day over everything
Hey, Adam. When you are fishing for halibut, with the depths often changing, and with no contact with the bottom, how do you know that your bait stays just above the sand? It seems if the depth deepens, your bait would lift too far from the sand. Thanks!
That video ended abruptly 😬 Anyway, as I see it, your thought process makes perfect sense, your results proved it! Great to see Taku and Nick with you on this one 👌
I always wait for Adam to say oh this a good size one. But this time it was wait maybe not or did I catch my other line lol. Great catch tho Adam I’m going on a charter on the 29th hopefully 🙏 I will get one at least 35in .
20:13 Chinese Fire Drill about to happen! ;) You know as soon as you get a snag or a tangle on one pole you are sure to get a bite on the other. I am officially going to name this the "ADAM SYNDROME" I rank it right up there with the "ADAM DRINKING GAME" = OH Yeah! It's A Big One! lmao
does your rod float? i don't see any floaters on them. i've heard and seen plenty of people who lost their expensive rods.. kayak flips or accidently just went overboard.
Dude, I would Love/Hate to fish with you! It'd be fun because I'd learn a lot, but it would be so frustrating seeing you get all the fish. I know Nick and Taku are good fishermen... but sheesh... hahaha
I know you always bleed them but I didn't see you cut them unless you did it off camera bro good fishing excellent catch enjoy good eating ☺️👍👌. When I was a teenager my family took me Halibut fishing in Alaska brother you have to go cause the halibut there are beast and the captain was shooting the fish before they put it on the boat cause there dangerous. I agree with you I like a little above the halibut cause there a ambush fish and presenting the bait over them looks more natural my opinion to brother
Fyi. Halibut are triggered by the weight thumping the bottom. At the same time you know you are close to bottom if you feel it. A longer leader while bouncing weight will keep bait gliding along. You seem to be doing just fine tho.
You gotta set your drag and try not to mess with them. They will always come up soon or later without tightening the drag. Let the drag and the rod do their thing, please. I get very anxious when people get too excited and start tightening their already set drag and pump the rod up and down.
i have a little bait tank (link in the description) but any bucket will do. As far as the squid jig, I've had the same one for like 5 years lol. Any standard squid jig should work fine!

Just so everybody knows, Adam makes it look wayyyy easier than it actually is.

Go out &catch your own.
@Joe Tersi: I would love to. Unfortunately, I'm disabled and fishing is an impossible hobby for me.
Good flattie fishing, it's all in the hook set, timing is everything in halibut fishing ,& adam seems to have it down

Man no one gets tired of halibut fishing 🎣 😝 👌👌👌👍🏼🎣🎣🎣👊🏼
so sick to see how well that Old town is working out for you! that hookset at 7:51 was savage!
The best part is the hookset, haha
Love the whole process, from catching your own bait then turning into a slab halibut 💪🏿🎣™

I need to try the open ocean for Halibut!

How deep were you when the halibut were biting?
Where you fish the halibut what part of the san francisco you go to fish?

Adam, when I watch your videos I'm constantly checking how much run time there is left because I don't want it to end!
You're the best!
Love the halibut fishing. What rig are you using to drift that squid?
That video ended abruptly 😬 Anyway, as I see it, your thought process makes perfect sense, your results proved it! Great to see Taku and Nick with you on this one 👌

nice fishing. Hope Taku got one this time. what do you recommend as an entry reel (baitcasting)? Thanks Adam
Which part of California is that ? Amazing catch.
Always like your Videos Dude, fosho
How could I be tired of Halibut since I haven’t caught one in 3 years!!!!
Squid is one of the most popular baits in Hawaii
Halibut feed off the bottom a few feet, that is why your method works so much better.
I always wait for Adam to say oh this a good size one. But this time it was wait maybe not or did I catch my other line lol. Great catch tho Adam I’m going on a charter on the 29th hopefully 🙏 I will get one at least 35in .
where are you launching from?

How are u catching squid what bait are u using, and what set up u using..
check my "how to catch squid" video for all the details
Love your videos but not too loose of a drag, you need to keep the tension on them. Go for winch mode haha.
Man i was out there all day Sunday no luck at all not even rock fish
Are you sure you were at that spot? Coastline prolly looks same, but you were prolly closer to SC.
Yea I’m sure I always fish monterey there were so many dolphins that day I got video of the swimming under my kayak
Suggest a rod holder for your gaff.

Giant 😍

@@Koji-888 yea, you keep pumping and setting that drag. That will most definitely work for a giant halibut.
How does a 20" halibut taste? 😋😆
It better taste excellent, cause it will cost you $500 minimum
What do you keep your squid in? and do you have a favorite squid jig?
i have a little bait tank (link in the description) but any bucket will do. As far as the squid jig, I've had the same one for like 5 years lol. Any standard squid jig should work fine!
Watch that gaff lol.
5:38 just use yr hand 🤷🏻♂️
Can you troll the squid like that even after they're dead?
Please tell me your favorite fishing kayak, many thanks 🙏
nice
Hi where are you fishing squid
Y’all know it’s going to be a good day when diehard upload a video! 😎👌
TRUE THAT!!!
Technically you only had one rod in when you caught the rock fish.... right?
Doesn't matter in California salt water you can fish with as many lines when in the water as you can " reasonably" handle
