- Now that our Ferrari 575M Maranello is fixed, I take it out for a review. I have to admit, I had low expectations as I generally don't like Grand Touring cars. But this Ferrari 575 is pretty amazing! I really enjoy the handling and power of the V12. It's a very smooth riding car that has precise handling and it's a lot of fun to drive!

I have a client who has collected Ferraris, and currently has 4 including a pista. His 575 m is his favorite by far. He said he doesn’t care about the others. He will keep the 575 m forever! Can’t wait to drive it!
It's really a pleasure to drive
the 550 and 575 are amazing! The most gorgeous "modern" gts ever made! And if it's a manual version, with direct exhaust, it becomes perfect! The strong point of this car is at high speed, this car after 300km/h continues to climb in an incredible way! Remembering that a 550 is still the world record holder for maximum average speed in 24 hours!
Very cool
186 mph...nice
After ten years with a 360, about a year ago I got a 575M (for which Dan provided a useful consult). I think Dan's review captures the essence of the 575M very effectively. It doesn't have quite the razor-sharp feel of the 360, particularly on turn-in, but the combination of power, smoothness, and cornering ability would be amazing in a modern car, let alone one that was designed twenty years ago. It is also a car that is great for whatever one wants to do at a particular moment -- go for a spirited drive, go on a road trip, or go get groceries. It's great at all of them (except maybe for the 10 MPG). I also agree with Dan that it doesn't feel big when driving, except for the long hood which took some getting used to after years with a 911 and then 360 when the road was in your lap. I would not shy away from the F1 in this car -- as Dan notes, it seems to be less jerky than in the V8s, and I find myself shifting a lot less because the V12 is so tractable and happy virtually anywhere in its rev ranges unlike the more high-strung V8s.
Yeah the gearing is so tall you don't have to shift much
Oh yeah baby......550/575 rock. Will be insane with the manual conversion, can't wait!! got to say I was your 658th ish subscriber i think? all those years ago now, and watching your hard work paying off has been inspiring, kicking arse dude, all the best....peace from New Zealand 🇳🇿
Thank you!
I think the stying is the best thing about it! It’s not “dated” looking at all. It looks completely timeless.
Well I agree but many don't
I'm excited to see the videos to come. My dream 1 Ferrari Garage would be a F430. My 2 Ferrari garage would be a 430 and 550/manual converted 575. Not as many videos on the V12 cars out there.
Yeah they made so few of them there's just not much out there
"It's a 2005, the car is over 20 years old".....your'e killing me Smalls!
The design
@@normalguysupercar Dan Brother it’s barely a 20 year old Design Not 20+ years. I’d do Vids after the repairs are done. That was an anti-sales video for sure. Love ya bud. But sometimes we just shouldn’t put a vidya out to put a vidya out. :)
@@ShelbyExotics what are you talking about dude!? These were designed with the 550 in the 90s.
I would say don’t swap out the F1 system. It works just great if you always think of it as a manual and not an auto box - and personally I would rather have an original F1 car than a “fake” manual. Best wishes from Australia!
Clearly the monetary advantage of a manual doesn't factor in?
@@normalguysupercar Not if its not original.
Ferrari value in the long run usually goes for original. Once people get over fads like this upsession with how the same exact transmission is shifted, they will be better original.
Last to have a proper Ferrari horn? I'm sold!
Haha I love the horn
In reference the heater, if you haven't, try it with the AC button depressed or on. My 575 only blows hot air with the AC on, which doesn't make sense, but Ferrari. Or it's broken, I don't know.
Lol yeah I know about the stupid off button.
02+ Ferrari F1s (all 575, 2nd half of 360) got a lot better because of better TCU tuning. A lot of 360s get a bad rep on the F1 as they made a lot of them in 99, 00, 01. 575 came out in 02 so was already ahead of the curve.
Yeah it has the better TCU so it basically feels like a f430
Beautiful car, but that repair guy knows what he is talking about. I would bring it up to modern spec with the exhaust and tune before any manual conversion. You obviously dont have the Fiorano handling pack and this car is strangled at 510hp. Maybe somebody wants to parade a badge , but the performance upgrades would compliment this car i truly believe.
There's no ROI in that unfortunately
I don't Ferrari has ever made a mediocre car with a V12. They are all amazing!!
The 400
@@normalguysupercar OK..The 400 LOL
That would be awesome on the devaluation tour!
Yes it would
At this point in my life I'm past the point of having a car beat me up. I prefer the "GT type" to the "track car". A car like the 575 is an elegant compromise. BTW, enjoy getting the keys to the new house tomorrow.
Yes. My ass appreciated the comfy ride
I'm looking forward to seeing the conversion of this car, in my opinion, this 575 is gonna be fantastic to drive. I've never seen a 575 Ferrari with a manual transmission; the 575 are pretty rare and they are very beautiful too.
Yes indeed
Beautifull looking Automobile.Btw if you remember me asking last week about that Tire part.it was a 22mm thin wall half inch drive socket for the Lug nuts.I ordered the part and gave it to my local tire guy.
Ah nice
Love that interior color too!
Me too
Found a guy with a black 72 365 gtc/4. What a awesome looking car.
Yes
They are underrated, i like them, and the V12 is amazing
The V12 is incredible
That car in a manual is going to be epic!! Can't wait for the video series. Dan you should have Meg do a before (F1) and after (manual) car review., she can critique your shifters. LOL
Well she doesn't drive manual
@@normalguysupercar 😂. Never too late to learn.
I believe the number of manuals was somewhere around 246 of 2056 575 produced. Vast majority left hand drive with around 30-40 right hand drive. I'm sure someone out there can provide exact numbers.
Keep the videos coming Dan.
That could be right
@@normalguysupercar 69 RHD
Sounds very similar to modern Aston MArtin V12s. Love it.
Yeah
Wow...fantastic. Ferrari grand touring. The manual conversion will be the best.
You are engaged.
You are driving.
You are in a ferrari.
Awesome!!!!!
Thanks
The Ferrari 575M Maranello[3] (Type F133) is a two-seat, two-door, grand tourer manufactured by Italian automobile manufacturer Ferrari. Launched in 2002, it is essentially an updated 550 Maranello featuring minor styling changes from Pininfarina. The 575M was replaced by the 599 GTB in the first half of 2006.
Ferrari 575M Maranello (rear)
Updates from the 550 included a redesigned interior as well as a number of mechanical improvements, including bigger brake discs, a larger and more powerful engine, improved weight distribution, refined aerodynamics and fluid-dynamics along with an adaptive suspension set-up (the four independent suspensions are also controlled by the gearbox, to minimize pitch throughout the 200-milliseconds shift time). Two six-speed transmissions were available, a conventional manual gearbox and, for the first time on a Ferrari V12, the "F1" automated manual gearbox built by Graziano Trasmissioni. The 575 model number refers to total engine displacement in centiliters, whilst the 'M' is an abbreviation of modificata ("modified").
For 2005, the company released a GTC handling package and a Superamerica version (a limited run of 559 retractable hardtop variants of the coupé), along with raising the power from 515 PS (379 kW; 508 hp) to 540 PS (397 kW; 533 hp).
A total of 2,056 cars were produced, including 246 with manual transmissions.[4]

Maximum speed: 325 km/h (202 mph)
0 to 100 km/h (62 mph): 4.2 seconds

The superamericas are worth a boatload now
575 'box is OK. The rule for 360s is get a 2003 onwards TCU in it. Or even better get a 2003 TCU and then get it flashed to Challenge Stradale spec. Or just buy the CS TCU if you can find one. Makes a huge difference to the 360 experience. Oh and also get it to a 360 specialist indie and ask them to set the thing up right and get the PIS down.
Yup
Here's a fun fact about these older Ferrari's: That exact key fob that you use to disarm the immobiliser, is the exact key fob used in the 5th generation Aussie Ford Falcon
That wouldn't surprise me.
Modernize the rear tail lights with the Morimoto LED lights that are on my 360.
They do a hell if a diference at night
If I need to blind everyone behind me. Lol
C'mon now, why would Stu ever do anything to annoy folks on the road with his car?!?! 😂😂🤣🤣
@@freddaniali das rite Fred! I provide ear porn and a light show.
Hey Dan wasn´t the legendary Michael Schumacher involved in the development of this beauty? I remember a pic of him wearing his OMP jumpsuit and posing with a red unit. Glorious!
I think that was the 456?
@@normalguysupercar I´m not sure, man. Could be. What I´m 100% sure of is that he was gifted a silver painted 575 M Maranello to thank him for winning the 2002 F1 championship. If you goggle, you´ll easily find the image. By the way, amazing video! I´m so jealous of you driving that monsterrrrr!
Schumacher and Lauda were involved in Maranello development
I want the manual gated shifter. They one of the first to have paddle shift
Yeah the 355 was first but this was the first v12 Ferrari with a single clutch transmission
I have this feeling Josh H. will end up buying the car when it's converted to a manual. He had ❤ in his eyes when he was diagnosing the accellerator pedal potentiometer problem.
I think he'd rather do his own and restore it
No way I’m the only one trawling the classifieds for 575Ms after watching this…? 😍
Lol
You have to put the Ferrari Shield logos on...they had them on the Bad Boys clip.
Ha
Love your video.
I would like to convert my. Did you do the conversion? How I can get in touch with your garage
Contact EAG
Will you be doing the timing belt service soon? I hope someone doesn't offer to buy it before you do the manual conversion or are you committed to carrying through on that plan?
We've had lots of offers to buy it as is or after the major service but we're not going to do that unless they want to pay a lot. No reason to leave money on the table.
2005 is less than 20 years old, Dan 😎
The design
Glad to see the Fezzas are back.
Good change from Lambo & Macca land.
Lol
My favorite of all!
Nice
We love Salty Josh, he's the best
Lol yes
Here's some amazing trivia. Its a Grand Tourer thats an inch shorter than - A Mitsubishi EVO.
That's interesting
@@normalguysupercar the EVO VIII Same timeline length my bad 4535mm
575 4550mm but THEYRE PRETTY MUCH THE SAME.
The only issue with relatively classic V12 GT cars is that for GT (5,000+ miles) use *today* with today's petrol prices, the ownership (and depreciation) costs are ludicrous.
These have already depreciated and are now appreciating
They’ve done all there depreciation. They can never be cheaper than 550 so that sets the price
If this was a manual and had an exhaust to give it that crazy F1 sound i would take this over an 812 hands down.
Yup
Sweet ride ..... i know it's a touring model but it can use a little more of a growl in the exhaust, to amplify that V12.... just my opinion....
Agreed
To achieve this Dan would have to go with no cats and then, it may be extremely loud. Maybe sport cats would be the more preferred way to go and I’m confident it will achieve the sound you seek.
@@studog05
Stuuuuu !!!! Hows it going Champ !? Miss seeing you brother..... i just think the surrounding cars need to be reminded that its a V12.....
@@ndpesicgroup Wassup Brother?!!
@@studog05
Hey brother.... how's the 360 ?? Last i seen you is when you installed the Klein exhaust with Dan....haven't seen a reveal video of her screaming.... she still treating you well ??
Will the manual conversion get rid of the paddles on the steering wheel?
Yup
Best looking ferrari ever built 575m maranello
It is great looking
Dan is manual swopping a V12 Grand touring Ferrari? This is going to be a long project. Where is the 599?
Thanks for the confidence
When will you start the conversion, and how long do you think it will to take?
Hopefully next week and a few weeks
One day definitely getting a Ferrari
I encourage this
I like it a lot...even more so with a manual! It's a 2005, more than 20 years old? Hmmm! 😅
The design is
Design of it is from like 1996 I believe
Not a bad sound - but an Aston V12 has it beat for quality of the sound, even on the standard exhaust, IMHO!!!
Possibly so
hopefully the conversion won't take as long as the 599...... ;) May give me time to sell my 355
Yup
I thought the 550 had steel bodies and the 575 were aluminum? Very nice car.
I don't know
I'd probably buy this if I were there. With manual conversion.
I think it will sell quick after the conversion
Just get a 550 and forget the conversion BS
Grand Tourers should not all be manuals imo, its not exactly a Scuderia to blast around a track.
Yes but banging gears on a fun drive out in the country roads would be great
You have to try a DB9.
Ok
Didn't Josh show 80% clutch use ?
80% used
@@normalguysupercar will u show new clutch video install ?
"quite a bit of miles" then you say 35K looool...thats NOTHING!!!!
For a Ferrari it's considered high. Lol
Maybe in the "older" mentality, i think the newer generation of buyers doesn't hold that same ridiculous "let me park my car and not drive it" mentality.
I actually hope you don't do the manual conversion.... Especially since it's been like God knows how long since you first said you'd do this. There are manual cars out there for manual lovers already....
I fully agree. Why is it necessary to convert these cars to manual.... Leave them as they are.
Because I like manuals and I like money.
I dont think the ROI is there on the conversion. A converted car isn't worth an original h pattern. The conversion is like 45k, you might break even and now it's not original.
Would love to have a neighbor who had one, and needed me to drive it…
Lol yup
The ‘M” in 575M stands for ‘Modificato’, not Maranello
Yup
I know a dude interested by a fun car purchase … he can almost provide 40 g deposit if you are interested by a quick sale
Thanks for the video
We're mostly interested in the conversion. They wouldn't get any sort of good deal if they buy it quick
@@normalguysupercar I think their friend is g money talking about a $40k deposit
Did you guys sell this one already?
Yes this was a long time ago
Is the conversion going to take as long as your 599 or do they have it figured out?
They have it figured out
Ha! And ouch.
PS.

Pre-Covid what were they going for? Do you Remember?

Well it's mostly a financial decision

Lol going to a

OK. Cool story.
And someone else will have difficulty when they own it........Ferrari’s are nothing but one problem after another.....🙄 jmpo.

it's one of the most gorgeous cars ever made!
