I can't believe it had to come to this for people to realize that this IS serious!
It has been going on for years and its finally getting to the "teachers" and "students" and "parents" it didnt have to come to this, and i feel terrible.

Teachers and administrators in almost every school district have ignored this problem for decades; they could have stopped it but instead opted not to,
Ive heard it said stupidity and incompetence have many virtues but consistency isn't one of them, this leads me to believe it's purposefully allowed

I applaud these girls for admitting and recognizing the severity of bullying, unlike those idiot students on the news that believe its not a problem and it "happens everywhere". Apparently the S Hadley Education System is very very inadequate for this to have been repeated several times, and the denial of knowledge about bullying from the faculty is more evident as dismissal and neglect, very much alike to the bullies' parents. Have they even made any apology to the family of Ms. Prince? RIP P.P

Young bullies grow up to be bullies when they're adults. I don't know if it's a personality trait you can change. Maybe it can be changed with some people. I think it comes from insecurity and low self-esteem. How can bullying not be a result of some self-esteem issue? A bully feels empowered by bullying someone. Each act is like a quick fix for poor self-esteem. The people in my life that have been bullies are insecure people. Insecure, envious, vindictive, resentful, but mostly, insecure.

Its time for schools to get rid of the term "bullying" altogether and replace it with "harassment." Bullying is an outdated term and doesnt carry the same legal consequences as "harassment. Clearly a kid who is a victim of harassment has greater legal recourse than one who is a victim of "bullying. Businesses have a zero tolerance policy for harassment in the work place and schools should begin to model their policies similarly.

This is sad, I have been bullied myself when growing up and not knowing why. Every single fucking year!! I have been to different schools but bullying was everywhere and I didn't know why. Thought it was because I was hearing impaired, but no, it was that I was different in some way. In 2003 I was diagnosed with Asperger;'s Syndrome. Now I know why I was "different" Bullying is abuse and can haunt you for life. I am 30 now and still traumatized. I want to tell my life story here on TH-cam.

When I heard this story, I was completely devastated. I've been through the same thing. Just not online... At the time, there was no such thing as Facebook or MySpace or whatever. The bullies at school did it face to face, in extreme ways. They tried to set me on fire with a spray can of deodorant and a cigarette lighter, and tried to slash my throat with keys.

I do not think "cyber bullying" should be considered a crime, nor should it be treated like it's own entity either. The internet is just another line of communication. People shouldn't be thrown in jail for being rude or insensitive. As heinous as they may seem, it's a part of life. Even if it it get's to the point of harassment, it's too easy to block those kind of negative messages or simply turn off your computer.

@doda I was a victim too but was fortunate I went to school in the days before Facebook, Myspace, texting, etc. back in the 90s. Even if I was being picked on at school, at least I had peace when I came home. Today's kids don't have that luxury and all parents should be concerned because Phoebe could have been their child. Bullies and their parents shoud be concerned too because surveys show a lot of bullies usually become criminals or drug addicts when they grow up.

@Matttheweatherman13 You said "I know because I actually stand up for people that are being bullied."
I'm proud of you for saying that, and I believe it also.
    Also:
What is the problem about "getting found out"?
You are writing a letter about the school's bullying problem. It is addressed to the school. It will not mention the bullies by name. If the bullies ask if you complained about them, just say no. That is the truth.
They will never find out anything. Who would tell them?

@jrsam25 They are the worst thing in school. Its a tragedy that horrible events like this only finally brought this subject to public attention. For too many decades bullying was trvialized aned rarely openly spoke about.. Trauma from bullying can last a lifetime. I hope the school adminstrators who turned a blind eye lose their jobs, lose their teaching certificates, and are hit with a personal lawsuit. Those who persecuted that young lady should lose their freedom via their courts.

DontDoDrugs. The fact that she was "a pretty girl" is irrelevant. It is terrible for any child's parents to face this. If bullying gets to this stage, the police MUST be involved. If the police do not act, then go to the media. Raise it as a national issue. Go right to the top, city hall, state, federal.
Bullying was not what it used to be. It is so much worse now.

Bystanders have more power than they think. If you see a child getting attacked, help them, or chase the bullies away.
We can stop bullying, only with the cooperation of the bystanders.
Sadly, in this case, the bullying rapists may have acted when they knew not many or any witnesses were present. Psychotic criminals attack & rape when no one is around. The rapists named by the poster below must be brought to justice. Like prison with no parole. We don't need rapist scum on this planet.

@SugarTomAppleRoger Earlier in May, Kayla Narey expressed a LOT of remorse regarding the way she treated Phoebe. She was crying her eyes out and read a statement, saying "I am sorry Phoebe. I am sorry for the unkind things I said....It was my hurt, anger and jealousy that caused my attitude to change... That’s when I had my chance to act like the person I was raised to be. I failed. I was the weak one and that failure will always be with me" so she's more sorry than u think. So is Longe.

@botchalism The key difference is that you're a full-grown man and this is the internet, you don't have to come here if you don't like how people act. When you're 16, it's different, the world looks smaller, it's harder to imagine things outside of your own situation. Also, when it's something that happens at school, it's something that can't be avoided.

Most likely, the bullying rapists will get away with mere slap on the wrist. The "justice" system won't do much.
It's up to the college admission officers, employers and others with a little bit of authority and power to deny the evil bullies and guilty rapists Ashley Longe, Shannon Charon, Flannery Mullins, and Kayla Narey any opportunity. As member of the public, beware of these criminals and make sure you are prepared to deal with them if they ever cross your path.

They should make students who constantly bully other students take their class work to a prison for a week (obviously under supervision, but encourage the prisoners to harass them). They need to feel what it's like to be bullied; imprisoned by everyone and made a spectacle.

  • @FaithBlack2001
    @FaithBlack2001 14 ปีที่แล้ว

@BettorOffSingle How would that do any good? You'd be punishing innocent kids as well as the kids who are victims. I'm not surprised the receptionist hung up on you.
I was a bullied kid in high school. The teachers & administration were useless. There were maybe 10 bullies in my graduating class (although I graduated from a different school). How is it fair to punish the 3000 kids that graduated that year due to the actions of 10 individuals?

  • @FaithBlack2001
    @FaithBlack2001 14 ปีที่แล้ว

@BettorOffSingle How was that a legitimate response?
I ask you again: What's to stop the bullies themselves, or anyone else for that matter, from transferring schools? Again, that's not solving the problem, it's MOVING it. And you would be punishing students who may not have seen the bullying occur.
    P.S.
By saying that you will refuse to hire people who attend South Hadley, you're begging for somebody to sue you. Discrimination much?

I'm not sure about the charges the bullies are currently getting. But they should have been charged a long time ago with harrassment and making threats.
The problem is that students need to be charged with this stuff BEFORE someone is driven to suicide and not just after the fact. The sad problem is that these kids will only be punished because she killed herself. Had that not happened, everything would still be the same.

  • @yerk3

@botchalism An 18 year old is not a "child." 18 is old enough to get married and join the army, both life-changing decisions. "if only there was some law that allowed conditioning to harden parents" First of all, why would you want to harden parents? Wouldn't you want to harden the children against bullies? Secondly, you really want MORE laws dictating to people how to raise their children? The government is not our parent, people should have the liberty to raise their children however they see fit.

I took the fires of my personal Hell and used them to immolate the kids that were bullying me. Kids today are raised to be non combative, to put up with the abuse they receive. Then it just wears them down until they snap and go to school with a gun or hang themselves in their closet.
Kids today need to toughen up, to learn to fight back. If you touch a nerve or, in the case of physical bullying, make them limp they'll leave you alone.

@DixieKorley I'm with you. Nobody ever bullied me again after I kicked the last one's ass. I was the quite one so he thought I was an easy target. I'm the first senior to start a fight in 2006 Taunton High school in Massachusetts, graduated with respect.

I'm not trivializing the suicides but why are kids so fragile these days? I was bullied from first grade on up until I graduated. It came in all forms. Rumors were spread about me, some of which still follow me in my 30s, I was teased, ridiculed, tossed off of bleachers, had knives pulled on me, you name it I've experienced it.
Yet I didn't cry to the media and I didn't consider suicide. I returned the insults. I made my bullies bleed... (continued)

@misskrissxoxo Thank you. And about the girl. I hope she broke the bully's heart, making her depressed and stuff... that'll be like... true justice :)

A little off putting that the video is about a suicide and the Ad before the video is a model singing "push it, push it really good"
I don't get why people think that just because they're children and that they shouldn't be sent in court just for bullying, if the same acts were done outside the guise of the walls of a high school the charges make sense. What got me is they couldn't find really any flaws about her so the best they could come up with was "Irish", seriously?
