I look forward to your posts. I am 61 years old. From a farming family over 4 generations. I grew up in a city in my teenage years but have always gone back to my roots to visit for summer vacations with 8 siblings since my youth. We would happily help with anything…get up with my grandpa to check on the cattle before the sun came up….cook meals to take out to the summer farm staff. Load bails at harvest time….etc. it was so much fun.

Thanks for the tour of your original homestead, it’s so beautiful! I love the way your MIL has created such beautiful spaces around her home, I wish I was more like that. I try, but I end up having so many chicken/garden/yard/house projects I spread myself too thin and things get neglected. I think I need to move to a smaller space, or have a grandson to help!

Wow! So much could be done on 2 acres! I love your MIL’s cozy sitting areas they are absolutely spectacular! I’m so glad the house was able to stay in the family. What a gorgeous lake! That property would be perfect for free range chickens and ducks would be wonderful! I would absolutely LOVE a place like that! What an incredible blessing! Don’t worry Chelsea everything has a season and once your children are grown you won’t need to grow, preserve or cook near the quantities that you need presently and at that point you’ll be able to focus on beautiful seating areas and flower beds and just all those extra special touches that take time to envision and plan out. Kool to see where all the dreams and aspirations sprang from. One can only imagine, that the sweat and tears of the last decade would fill a small swimming pool. Your entire family offers inspiration and hope, to those just starting out. What a lovely property! I grew up on two acres and did have my horses there for a few years. My um actually sold that house in the fall of 2021,after being there for almost 50 years.

You can have flowers and grow food. I love Asian cabbage flowers and sunflowers, carrot flowers and all of the allium flowers!

They did, yes, but my mom has since moved.

They did, yes. My mom loves an hour away with her sister now.
Does he have any issues with animals eating his plants?
A deer or two come through but generally don’t cause too much damage.
