That last bit about preserving a short stack in the game when there are payout implications to give you leverage over the middle stacks and be able to push them around more was absolute gold. Haven’t heard anyone discuss that concept before. Good stuff
I've won a tournament once and cashed a couple of times coming back from 1bb and it's not un heard of, people will call any two pair when you jam 1-3bb and you can easily double or triple up
@@adean4146 Yeah of course. I’ll call a 1-3BB stack with literally any two cards. I was referring to Little’s talk about when you’re a big stack with an opportunity to cripple or eliminate a short stack, sometimes better to just cripple them instead of busting them. That way you can play faster against the middling stacks who are just going to try and outlast that short stack and potentially run the table over. This all assumes there are payout implications though, doesn’t make sense otherwise.
Should you fold AA preflop on the small blind when the big blind is very very short and you are the chip leader in order to maintain an icm presure on the other players?
I like that idea or concept to keep the small stack in to bully the medium stacks.. the medium stacks will grind for the pay jump... That's a helpful video... Just dont understand why he would call with k9
How does he have the nuts? Checking behind with the nuts is illegal in most games, to stop collusion, but Holz doesn’t have the nuts here, just a very strong hand.
@@嫖白-p1c he was referring to JLittle’s comment. That there are situations where you actually DO WANT TO leave the player short stacked… to present ICM pressure to mid stack and just chip up easily.
Ok, i see the merit in flatting the $270k when in position. Fedor's failure to raise Dan's river bet was a huge mistake tho. You don't want to leave that man with even a chip & a chair.
Same here. I’m comfortably raising all-in on that turn card. The gamblers at those stakes will happily call with their flush draws (and obviously any King or Ace).
Going allin doesn't seem the most +ev option as you fold out Cates' bluffs. Min raising doesn't really do much but look suspiciously strong so call. Id reraise allin on Stars microstakes for fear of draws killimg my action/hand!
I play mid stakes and I would call the vast majority of the time. The only time I shove is against a player with an abnormally low fold rate to get their draws to call. Typically the type of player that needs someone else to do the betting for them. In a 6 max game a fold rate of around 15-20%. If they hit they hit, but the chips are going in against that type of player largely in my favor. Run it lifetime its massively +ev. Most other scenarios I'm inducing a bluff/ value bet river against average players.
he called cos AK or KQ is trapping him and not to forget pocket Aces or pocket 6s... jungleman probably knew he was beat but instead of going all in he chose to save 200k as both would give polarised feel, although i feel a shove would be more convincing..
Neither player has the nuts here... So calling is perfectly fine. And with a super short stack around i'd love to only call his river bet and push around the other players for a couple more hands and even extract more big blinds in the future!
Which poker player would YOU fear the most at the table? 😱
Ivey
Dwan would crush my soul by just staring at me.
My mum cos if I lose I'll never hear the end of it for years to come
Feldman. If i ever lost a chip to himnid have to end myself

Great advice.

Yeah that was pretty 5 head
Game of Gold was super entertaining. I enjoyed this format; hope we see more it this.

nonsense
What's Jungleman's costume supposed to be in this one?

Interesting concept about keeping Jungleman in. But in tournaments if you have the nuts you must raise right,?
Ugh! I stand corrected again! ICM is a huge factor here! Thank you for the lesson, Jonathan!
Happy to help!
Wow very nice teaching moment sir!
You're welcome!
2:53 if it helps set up a river jam, I'd min-click it. No way Jungleman will fold to that, regardless of his suspicion. Then jam the river.
That's an interesting concept of leaving a short stack for the bubble...
mostly I play bounty tournaments though

What happened to preflop analysis? K9 suited may be a trivial call
Nope. Good call
Out of the small blind? Not a chance.
Dan seems committed so yeah put him in
Is it legal to just call with the nuts in position? becouse I think that to check behind with the nuts is illegal..
Tournament specific. WSOP, checking back nuts >> one round penalty (think it also escalates)
How does he have the nuts? Checking behind with the nuts is illegal in most games, to stop collusion, but Holz doesn’t have the nuts here, just a very strong hand.
This is not nuts, not even the 2nd nuts

I play at lower limits...I blast off anytime I get a hand. And their pride always forces them to call. Slow playing is foreign to me.

I'm glad you think so!

If you just call with the nuts, you get penalized…. Come on now Jonathan, you should know that rule.
Good point. But they might not have this rule in this specific tournament?

He has not the nuts. There are still hands out there than beat him: AA (the nuts), AK, KT, KQ, TT and 66.
