what do you do with a new model who has front 360 camera, how do you remove and install it back like it came out of the dealership? the camera must be alignment with the radar, how do you do that?
I put a new moulding onto the new windshield before install. Sometimes you can save the old one. They are so cheap though it’s best to just replace it. Some mouldings come attached to the new windshield. Thanks for watching!
Broad question but i havent done or had training for a windshield install and im planning on finishing up the install on my s10 would the hardest part about the install be the beading and correct hieght of the urethane ? And also in what situation would i need to use glass/urethane primer under the urethane ?
That is definitely one of the most important parts. It takes a while to learn how to lay the bead correctly. If your off even a little bit it can cause air leaks. Also the urethane tubes are hard to push out so a electric caulking gun is recommended. You only have so long to run the bead till it starts to cure and won’t stick to the glass properly. Also depending on what urethane you get most do require primer that goes with the urethane. You can’t use a different brand primer for the urethane or it won’t stick. There are some primerless urethane just might be a longer safe drive away time. Also making sure the old urethane stuck to the vehicle is trimmed down properly. You want it nice and flat. About 1/8 inch sticking up. Not too close to the pinch wield. If you see rust then grind out as much as you can without damaging the pinch wield and use black primer that goes with whatever brand of urethane you get. Hope this helps! Please feel free to ask me any questions I’m happy to help!
@miketheglassguy7568 thank you for the info makes me a lot more confident I can do it now with the right information it'll be up to trial n error if not done right the first time lol. hope you have a good day sir!
So, I have this weird plastic/rubber/metal trim around my windshield that was adhered on. It doesn’t pull away like that car did. Any tips to get this off ?
This vehicle had no rain sensors or Lane departure system so there was nothing to calibrate if that makes sense? There are certain vehicles that do require it but only the newer models. Thanks for watching! 🤙
Mike: I have a brand new Mazda 2023 4 door 3 sedan sport, under lease, I noticed the last day or so that I somehow had road or rock damage, or deliberate damage, with hairline cracking or chipping rather, in various spots on the windshield. It almost looks like the wipers did some damage too, on the lines of the wiper arcs, but I don't see how since the vehicle is not a month old or so. Also, how do you replace Mazda windshield since the upper center interior of it has that large plastic rearview mirror/seatbelt alarms etc. electronics module seated on it? Is that removable like the mirror, easily? I have no idea. I'm bringing the car in tomorrow to my dealer and praying they can just replace the windshield. The chipping isn't the worst ever but it's already noticeable and marring the view a bit. I was super pissed off. Also my street has been ripped up the past two days and then Monday again, for repaving! So all kinds of rocks and shit has been thrown up for days here. Really great when you just took delivery of a new car! Are road damage or deliberate damage usually covered by the dealer on a new leased car? I know most repairs or defects are, minus tire wear and tear. I've never had cracks or chips so bad before I had to have repaired, ever. And again, this car is a month old. The scratches and chipping are surface, not deep.
Hi there! Sorry that happened to you. Unfortunately it is pretty common but it being such a new vehicle the dealer should definitely take care of you and it really just depends on what insurance you have. Do you have full coverage? Also you don’t have to take it to a dealer if the wait is very long then I recommend going to your local auto glass shop that has good reviews and might not have to wait as long. As far as the installation every vehicle is different. Yours most likely has a rain sensor and lane departure system which is behind that plastic piece behind the rear view mirror. All of that doesn’t need to be replaced don’t worry. It’s just a brakes that comes on the new windshield and you just unplug the sensors and re plug it in after you install the new glass. If that makes sense?
@@miketheglassguy7568 Aye, thanks. I see the windshield lays just over the box here. It’s more like scratch-streaking. I think a truck kicked up rocks the other day on the road.

wish I could do this and save money...im paying 350.00 to get my windsheild replaced today...thanks for showing how its done.... how long did it take you ?
It typically takes me 30 minutes to an hour depending on the make and model. I know it looks easy but it takes a while to learn to do it properly. Running the glue is the most important part to make sure the contact is consistent with the glass. Make sure to inspect the vehicle around the windshield especially to make sure they don’t do any damage. Best of luck! Thanks for watching!
@@miketheglassguy7568 thanks for your prompt reply! They told me to wait at least 24 hours..to use a car wash...and there is red tape n the front top section of the new glass. Very much needed.
@@thundergrace sounds about right. Also for 24 hours make sure not to slam your doors shut with the windows rolled all the way up. All that built up air pressure can pop a hole through the urethane(glue) while it’s still trying to cure.
Do you use a heater for the urethane or was the sun and asphalt sufficient enough? And do you notice much of a difference between laying the urethane on the pinch weld vs the windshield like a lot of installers preach? About to do my first windshield. Trying to make sure I don’t need to do it twice 😂
In the summer I don’t heat the up the urethane at all. Unless they have been sitting in the truck overnight and it was below freezing you should be fine. I prefer to lay it on the pinch weld especially if your new at this I recommend pinch weld you have more room for error. If you run the bead on the glass the bottom of the windshield can be hard to lay it on the pinch weld exactly where it needs to go. Best of luck! You got this!!
The ONLY reason to put urethane on the window instead of the body is because safelite says "that's how OE does it" Except OE also always uses setting pins and robots to both lay the glue and the glass. Humans are not as accurate as robots. Put the glue on the pinchweld. There are like maybe 3 vehicles I can think of where putting glue on the glass is actually preferable, and one is a Volvo where taking the hood off would almost be required to run the pinchweld. And the other ones are all big ass vans with huge windows and it's just easier to glue the glass and set them.

@@thundergrace sounds about right. Also for 24 hours make sure not to slam your doors shut with the windows rolled all the way up. All that built up air pressure can pop a hole through the urethane(glue) while it’s still trying to cure.
I need these tools Can you rent any of these or could you provide a detailed list please
How can i get those tools in kenya pls
Nice lil beat . I just wrecked on that beat with a lil 3 min freestyle 😂😎
Haha hell yeah it’s the perfect freestyle beat! 👏😎
The ONLY reason to put urethane on the window instead of the body is because safelite says "that's how OE does it"
Except OE also always uses setting pins and robots to both lay the glue and the glass.
Nice work! Why in my country isnt such people doing this job at home.🙄
Thank you for your kind words! 🤙
Awsome just looking to see if I can remove a good window and just replace the glue it’s not the same when you care for the window thanks for your vid

How much is a Toyota 4runner front glass for sale?
It really depends. Every market is different. What’s the year of your 4runner and what state and I can give you a ballpark but I suggest calling around your local shops and see who has the best deal. Thanks for watching!
ok so now i ll do the same by myself thank you
I’m wanting to get into this, but unfortunately no one around me wants it to teach me bc I’d be the competition. Any advice? Would you be willing to sell me a couple of in depth how to vids??
Fantastic only took 4 minutes
No rust treatment?
I did prime where ever there was rust or any scratches. Nothing more was needed on this one
Definitely need a new windshield for my ol ford
Can you share a tool list? Thanks ❤
Great work
I’m hesitant to have my windshield replaced in my Tacoma because I’m afraid someone will gouge the frame and in a few years I will have rust bleeding out of it.
Nice work! 🤙
Thanks so much for watching!! 🤙
nice paint job...
Great job, Bro. 🥰🫶🏻🥰
Thanks for watching! I appreciate your support!! 🤙
You spent an awful lot of time protecting that gem 😂
Don't worry about cleaning the glass, what I want is a factory-like install.
Thanks for watching 🤙
Why would he not clean the glass regardless?
I do glass repair everyday, i know and appreciate good effort, but i also know scratches when i see them, it may take a few extra minutes but have you ever considered a push blade ? Good work though man, not easy doing an install un-aided.
I started installing 14 years ago and honestly never seen anyone use scrapers back then. Only long knifes. It’s all I ever was used to but I understand now everyone uses scrapers and will definitely start using them in the future. I don’t do auto glass full time. Im a glazer and window installer mostly. I can assure you tho any scratches are made I always prime and make sure proper steps are made.
Thanks for watching man! 🤙
I just saved myself 150 bucks!
