idk where youre fishing at, but out here you can definitely tug on squid and put much more pressure than you do there. I hooked a 32cm hood one, about 1.2ish kg on new years eve, and fully tugged it in AND lifted it in the air to the pier... We lift them very frequently with no issues. this aint a diss or anything, just an FYI. Im very jealous of the good time fishing! :)
I will second what you said about the Sephia BB rod and reel combo. Bought one a week ago and it absolutely changes the equation. Same with using quality Jigs. Catching everything on Yamashita Live Search. The rattle in them brings the squid in for miles. They fight over it. Had it a week and it already has awesome battles scars. Awesome vids. Really enjoying this channel.
Your mate down at Rye helped me after I sliced my finger pretty bad . Good dude that that has alot fishing knowledge . After hearing he fished a bit in Western port I asked him if he had seen your channel he said he knew you!
Nice squid. As a spearo I wondering if dangling a jig (minus the barbs) from a kayak or a float would bring them in for shooting. I’ve shot a few squid but you have to look for them.

Looks like so much fun. I’m trying to convince my parents to go for a holiday to cowes so I can go squid fishing out my kayak and of the pier.
Squid fishing is always good fun! Wether its kayak, pier, rocks or boat its just nice to be out there.

Very luckily I don’t think I have, I’ve had them shoot out and grab squid I otherwise would of caught though. Seals are everywhere though
