    Dali is primarily known as a speaker company. Surprised that you’ve never heard of them!

      I don't have enough time for headphones, Arthur! Let alone 2 channel gear!

      More than that, I think they are toward the top of speaker production worldwide, with incredible R&D budgets and facilities. But how many BT headphones have they come out with in the last few years, all of which have seemed to leverage their audiophile credibility to sell what's really just a mass-market product?

    Sorry but if you think the Bathys sound better than the IO12 your ears aren't working properly lol

    I just want you to review the Noble Audio xm1 ( the retail version ) as there aren't many on forums like headFi etc and other platforms and how well will it compare with other iems like Unique Melody Mext with a decent portable dac amp.
    Warm Regards,
    Audio Enthusiast.

    Bro thinks the bathys sounded better than these when these do EVERYTHING better than the bathys and every professional and casual agrees. I have things like the utopias, 820s, lircs 1 & 2, px8, had bathys, th900s, and MANY more. If you think the bathys compare to these you're losing it. Which I knew you were soon as you said these were bassy. These aren't bassy at all.

    The pads do come off lol 😆I think you had the bass mode turned on. They are not bass heavy headphones at all. I have the Bathy's and the Dali's are better. To say they sound like Sony's is just insulting lol.

    I owned for couple of months Bathys, ML and now Dali, I get the fact, that it can be subjective, but saying Dali are more consumer from bass POV and less revealing than Bathys, you either have a bass mode on and/or fault unit or just first impression bias. Regarding the price, I agree it's steep, but they're the cheapest (and some would argue the best) in their league (ML 5909, TA Solitare P)

    • @KainSwiss
      @KainSwiss 7 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      The Dali's are better than both the Solitaire's and Mark Levinson. Not sure why he was surprised by the price. There are like 5 headphones i could name off the top of my head that cost about the same, the TA's are still the most expensive to date. I agree with you the Dali's need running in. they are simply incredible.

    We all know that out of the box, some headphones do not perform well. Allowing them to run in for 60 to 100 hours makes a big difference in how they sound. The pads do come off if you twist them counterclockwise. There are two modes on the headphones: hifi mode and bass mode, and even in bass mode, the headphones don't sound boomy. Others complain that the headphones sound tiny, and here you say they sound boomy, which is why I said to spend time with them and then share your opinion. I understand that this is your opinion, and I respect that.

      All good! As I wrote in the comments, the HQ mode was cut for time, I didn’t feel the headphone required more bass, but it’s fair to disagree. I go into any review wanting to love every product. I hope it blows me away. This one impressed me until I saw the price tag. Good tip on the cups. Thanks for the comments!

    What the guy is smoking... probably had bass mode on but still

  • @BinaryFeedback

    Apparently these have 'bass sound' mode and 'hifi' mode. Apparently 'bass sound' is not available wired... So I'm wondering if out of the box they default to 'Bass Sound' for wireless and this is what is slowing them down and making them scooped.
    I'm not here to defend something I have never heard btw! Just a thought..

    • @DirectorsGarage
      @DirectorsGarage  20 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      I did a thing on the Hifi vs Bass modes. I wound up cutting that segment to keep the time down on this episode. Basically the standard mode is Hifi, which was when I was hearing all the bass. The "Bass" mode is even muddier and thicker. Why they thought they needed even more bass? Not sure. There's a part of me that secretly respects this! More! More! More! But the sane part of me says it was adding overkill on top of overkill.

      @@DirectorsGarage What I have found is that in mobile applications frequency extremes are attenuated especially when in the presence of sub sonic frequencies. Trains, planes and anything else that can generate those tones have an affect which is why I find that most bt headphones seem to boost bass frequencies especially when anc is activated.

    I listen vocal jazz and classical music, before your video, I just visited a shop to test bathys and iO12. My feeling is completely opposite to your comment. Bathys sounds very flat with classical music, the soundstage in iO12 is far better than Bathys with complicated sound from classical music. iO12 has better instruments separation. It would be good to let people to know what music you are comparing for. From other TH-camr’s video, someone actually had Bathys, iO12, T+A, 5909, they sold their T+A or Bathys for iO12 after they bought iO12.

      Everyone hears things differently, and everyone appreciates different qualities in their headphones. That's what makes for robust discussion! I want some people to love this thing, even though I couldn't get there. Keep in mind, I was listening to more classic rock / alt rock / new wave / punk with these, with classical, you may be looking for different qualities. I did feel the Bathys had more resolution, detail, and clarity-- which I think would be better for classical. But thank you for sharing your thoughts!

    I trust your opinion. U recommended the utopias before, and because i listened to a wide range of music, they were perfect. Now im looking for the best wireless. Would you have an opinion on the bathys vs mark levinson 5909. Thank you for your OPINIONS as your's is the one I trust most

    • @DirectorsGarage
      @DirectorsGarage  13 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      I haven't heard the Levinson, it gets mediocre reviews around here. I haven't heard anyone rave about it, but it's unknown to me. The Bathys, to me, are the bar of everything I've heard in wireless over ears. But the sleeper may be the Noble Apollo. I'm hearing great things... might want to wait a bit before buying anything, they're out September 3rd. Stay tuned!

      I was in love with Bathys, but it took me like 5 minutes in store to compare them 1-1 with ML, and I sold Bathys and switched to ML. Ok, sorry, it took 10 minutes, as I had to go to the car for my own pair of Bathys, as I thought those in the store were broken (when compared to ML) :D So, regardless your trust, I really suggest to try both. Btw, I did the same with ML and Dali a bit later, but it took more time as it was not so clear (there are pros and cons for both), but happily decided to choose Dali, so you know ;)

    You have to spend time with the Dalís before you start spewing lies about them.

    • @DirectorsGarage

      I normally don't reply to this type of comment, but I would point out that an opinion, by definition, cannot be a lie.
      I pointed out the features of the headphone, which are impressive, as I said in the video. The issue for me is price. I compared them (on camera) to the Focal Bathys, and in my opinion (as I say throughout the video) they do not sound as good to me as the Bathys at nearly half the price.
      I take no issue with anyone who enjoys the Dali iO-12. Listen to what you love. Don't let any reviewer tell you what sounds good to you, use your own ears. Share your experiences, as others have done below. I know listeners who have loved this headphone.
      I liked this headphone, but not at $1300, and I'm not alone in this opinion as you can read in the comments, and as people have written me- directorsgarage@gmail.com - telling me they agree or disagree. Cheers!

    Tried the Dali io12, the bass sounded way too muddy for me, I heard all the compression in the mids, it was just frustrating. Focal Bathys had so much more clarity. The lack of app is a neat idea but it was just annoying to not have an app. It doesn't matter if you press the bass or hifi option, both are basically the same.
    Unfortunately I've had a lot of hardware issues with Focal Bathys, thankful for 24 months warranty.
    They are more like a 300 euro pair of headphones not 1000 euros.
    Great review, I felt the same way
