I just gave my ring for resizing in smaller size for 5mm smaller. But the men told me that the small stones can drop out because of the movement and resizing.-is it true?

Of course, if you have more fragile stones, they can be protected from the heat of soldering by using a type of clay product that can encase the top of the ring while the band is being worked on. Diamonds don’t require such handling. Great video!
Wouldn’t cutting it damage the integrity of the ring? I bought an expensive engagement ring and had to get it resizes. Almost threw up when he cut it in half
thank you. For some gems a refractory paste is used to protect them from heat, others do not suffer heat damage. The use of refractory pastes also depends on the position in which the welding is carried out, in some cases, the structure of the ring, allows the welding to be carried out, without the heat being propagated up to the gem.
Great video! I have one question. Have you ever damaged jewels during crafting? Something like you accidentally scratched diamond or something and how did you managed that issue?
Chris J it is very difficult to damage a diamond, while it is very easy to damage an emerald. It can always happen a mishap. When it happens, there are two possibilities, you can cut the gem or replace it.
+Stu Bowles The defect was not English native speakers is that you listen to the sound and not the words. I liked the music and I have raised the issue. probably wrong, next time I'll be more careful. Thanks
It wasn't an issue, sometimes you have to be festive when its not the season. I think people would be a lot happier if they listened to more Christmas music, haha. Keep up the great work, you've definitely inspired me and I'm sure many others
THANK YOU! This was so helpful -- My husband has lost weight and his ring is too loose. This was exactly what I wanted to know!
Now I totally feel comfortable with getting my ring resized. Another great informative upload by you!
thanks
this is what i had done to my deceased mothers wedding ring...my beloved wife now wears it...my mother would be so happy
Its good job!! Could you please tell me the liquid that you use to protect the gems before u fix the ring ?
Yes! When will u upload more informative tutorials like these? I enjoy learning :)
Could someone tell me all the tools hes using to upsize the ring?

When down sizing I wonder if your able to use the chunk of gold that's cut out to weld it back together if made into those little squares ?
No, the removed parts cannot be reinstated. For the union of the two parts gold is used in alloys with a lower melting point.
@@scaffoal what happens to the gold cut out ?

Thank you very much for showing us!!
+sonydvd2010 Thanks a lot
So you use the some gold you Cut off and Melted back
I put on the gold right back on

How to increase ring size if the ring is set with a stone that is sensitive to heat?
With flame welding, or disassembling the gem or using protective paste that protect the gem from the heat.
Wouldn’t cutting it damage the integrity of the ring? I bought an expensive engagement ring and had to get it resizes. Almost threw up when he cut it in half
The part of gold that is cut out from the rings. What do you guys do with that? keep it?
+sant maris The part of the gold that is removed is minimal, it does not affect in the cost of processing.
+scaffoal So it doesnt affect the value of he ring itself?
sant maris No, just a poorly done job can undermine the value of the jewel
You really are a master of your trade, may I ask why you choose the clock spring instead of a charcoal block
better would be to protect the upper part of the ring. the prongs get soft!
Great work , thanks for sharing. !!
Ron B thanks
What is green product ?Quel le liquide vert ?Thanks Merci
+VIAL Bernard Is an antioxidant, prevents the oxide of metal and helps the solder to flow
Can a diamond ring on 18 carat gold be resized similarly?
yes
What decides a stretch or a cut and resolder?
The ring size corresponding to a determined circumference, a number in the Italian numbering corresponds to about a millimeter of circumference

@@scaffoal Thank you for taking the time to answer this. Love your videos.
Thanks for the video! Did you have problems before with upsizing channel set rings? Curious if they’re complicated to upsize.

Is that green flux?
Patrick Singh It is a liquid that protects the gold from oxidation during welding.
