  • Based on cultural, traditional, and mystical associations, the ring on which you choose to wear a finger can be very significant. It can reveal your relationship status, concepts that are important to you, or groups with which you are associated. This information will help you decide the best way for you to wear your rings. 00:00 Introduction
00:48 My fascination with men's rings actually started in 2015 when I was in Berlin, Germany. At the flea market, I spotted this malachite sterling silver ring which cost just 10 euros and I liked the look of it and that started it all for me.
So what do rings on different fingers mean?
01:07 First of all, let's start with the ring finger. Interestingly, before medical science was established, people thought that there was a direct vein from your ring finger to your heart, it was called the vena amoris or the vein of love. Because of that, it was the natural finger to wear a wedding ring on.
03:33 Which brings us to our next finger. The word pinky is derived from the Dutch word pink which means as much as a little finger. The earliest recorded use of the term pinky goes back to Scotland in the year 1808. Wearing a pinky ring for men has a long history of symbolism. For example, in Victorian times, men including Prince Albert would wear their wedding band on their pinky ring. Sometimes, it was also stacked underneath their signet ring which was also worn on their pinky finger. On the other hand, in the US, pinky rings were sometimes associated with criminals and thugs.
04:53 Next up is the middle finger, also known as the long or the tall finger. It's most well known for the obvious gesture you can make with it and because of that, very few men choose to wear a ring on this finger. If you ever put a ring on your middle finger, you can notice that it gets in the way of things and it feels odd on your hand. A ring located at the center of the hand is said to symbolize responsibility and balance. Wearing a ring on your middle finger is a very bold choice that gets you noticed and
maybe it can even be a conversation starter.
05:34 Next up is the index finger, also known as a trigger finger or pointer finger. It's a most dominant finger, only second to the thumb, and because of that, it symbolizes power or authority and leadership, maybe even more so than the middle finger. If you want your ring to get noticed, wear it on your index finger.
06:19 Now last but not least is the thumb. It is probably your most used finger and it's usually associated with softer gestures such as the thumbs up which are less harsh as the index finger where we point at things. In my experience, the thumb is the key to any kind of a grip position so having a ring really restricts your movement and it's just awkward.
How many rings can you wear? The simple answer is that's up to you. There have been men who've worn rings on every finger, sometimes even stacked on the same finger. Others wear six rings or four. Personally, I'm a big believer in less is more.
What about wearing two or more rings on the same hand? The most traditional way is probably to stack your wedding band and your pinky ring all on your pinky finger.
Now, what if you want to wear rings right next to each other, let's say on your pinky and your ring finger? Personally, I'm not a big fan because the metal touches and it just feels awkward on my hand. A classic traditional safe way for men to wear rings is to have a single one on your ring finger. If you want to add two, you can put it on a different hand, either on your pinky or on your ring finger or you can stack them on your pinky.

Question for ya: my grandfather used to tell me a story HIS Dad used to tell him. My great grandfather was a Polish immigrant and he brought with him the tradition of wearing his gold wedding band on his left hand middle finger. My great grandmother wore her silver wedding band on her right hand middle finger. He claimed it was a tradition that represented the balance between the sun and moon (gold and silver) and the placement was so my great grandparents were only in "balance" when together and holding hands. I asked one of my former teachers about this (she immigrated from Poland as a child) and she affirmed the tradition, though she said it's EXTREMELY outdated. I, however, have been unable to find any historical precedence for this tradition. Just wondering your thoughts and expertise.

I inherited my grandfather's two gold signet rings; one with an onyx and the other with a carnelian stone.
They both fit my ring fingers perfectly, but because the carnelian stone is slightly smaller than the onyx and its ring has a slimmer bottom band, i had it downsized to a pinky ring at a local jewelry store and it looks just great.
So now i wear the onyx on my right ring finger and the carnelian on my left pinky.
I've never been a jewelry kind of man, but thanks to your channel i am now actually wearing my grandfather's gold signet rings instead of keeping them in my safe.
    Thank you, sir!

Wearing rings on every finger including the thumbs, in my opinion is kinda tacky. If your married your left ring finger is whare you should be wearing your ring. In my case, for some strange reason, my right ring finger is slightly smaller than my left finger. Example: My ring size would be size 11 just like my shoe size, which is a strange correlation, seems peoples shoe sizes are tte very same as their ring sizes. At any rate, if I were to wear my size 11 ring with a stone on my right hand, it flops around all over the place, yet, fits my left ring finger without any problem and fits it perfectly to, and, I'm not at all married, never have been, never will be married.

I started wearing rings when I was 25 at the mall. Saw a wedding band at Kay Jewellers that I loved.
I saw it, I liked it, I bought it. I wear it on my right ring finger.
Have been wearing it for the past 3 years and just a few months ago my grandfather saw it asked about it and offered me some of his old rings; picked one of his with a nice black onyx and some interesting engravings around the stone. I wear that one on my left middle finger (need to get it sized up about 0.5-1 size larger as it's difficult to remove).
I love both of my rings and wear them daily. I doubt I'll ever have much of a collection as the ones I have have some meaning. I'm hoping to see if my other grandfather had any rings he used to wear as it would be a nice reminder of where I come from and who came before me.
If you're reading this, I apologize for the novel.
TL;DR - I wear 2 rings. One on right ring, one on left middle.

Before introduction of European style gentlemen's clothes in 19th century, zihgir (thumb ring) was actually a part of attire in Ottoman Empire and Seljuks before that. A gazi (loosely translated as "veteran") would wear it in his civilian life, too. Therefore, a glimpse to the thumb of the person you've come across gives you an idea if you're talking to a warrior or not. People stripped of rank usually took off and surrender their zihgir, much like famous Hollywood scenes where a cop surrenders his gun and badge.

For many year (over 30) I have worked as a workshop instructor and one thing I had to observe and teach is the dangers of wearing rings in particular but also other jewellery when working in a workshop and with machinery. My wife is a Jeweller and as we are both metal workers we made each others wedding rings, but I found that I rarely wore mine, mainly because I couldn't at work and in other settings it felt awkward and uncomfortable. I also found that when I started to do anything manual my finger would swell and it would be come tight and uncomfortable..
My solution was to have my wedding band tattooed onto my left hand ring finger. It is simple to reflect that of a plain wedding band but marked with the date of our marriage.
I don't know what this says about me, some people view tattooed hands in an unfavourable light! However, I have no other tattoos, this is the only ink on my skin!

Never liked jewelry until I was 18 years old on a college Christian Student Fellowship trip to Colorado, while on this trip we had to stop by Walmart to grab food. While waiting on my leaders to finish shopping I was checking out the jewelry section. I came across a Silver ring with a gold edge the had a Cross in the middle and then the entire Lord's prayer inscribed around the ring. I thought it was so cool so I bought it much to my surprise for only $20. I always wear it on my middle left hand finger or my left hand pointer finger. Over the last 7 years I have lost this ring 3 times for over a year thinking I would never get it back again, but somehow every single time that I lost it I had fallen from God and every time someone had found it for me and returned it to me was always a time after I had been asking God for help. I now put this ring on to symbolize my commitment everyday to Christ.

One note on the pinky ring for engineers. This is part of being a member of the Order of the Engineer (a professional society) and it is worn on the pinky of the hand that is used to sign documents. The ring is meant to be a reminder that you as an engineer are putting your reputation behind the project and that said project will be designed to be the safest and best design possible (the rings are all made from the metal taken from the Tacoma Narrows Bridge that collapsed due to improper engineering).

Late to the party, but I want to put my 2 cents here. I wear my wedding band (half white - half yellow gold) on the ring finger and a metalic dark gray ring on the middle finger of the other hand. Sometimes I switch it to an obsidian black ring. What i do several times a day, is that I switch hands, meanning that i move the rings from one hand to the other, but always on the same finger. I do this because the rings are wide and I sweat, so the skin gets a "pruny" look and I dislike that

I've always loved Jewelry in general and have a few rings for different occasions and outfits ... Most are Diamond so they won't clash with any colour clothing worn , and my 2 favorites are yellow gold with platinum highlights , one is from the 1920's and I always wear on my left ring finger with my plain yellow gold wedding band , and the other is from the 30's and I sometimes wear on my left pinky , if I have other rings on my right hand , or on my right hand ring finger if there are no other rings on that hand , the ones I often wear on my right hand are both more modern but also both quite simple , I don't like them overly complicated or elaborate , and both fit my middle or index finger , one is fairly chunky with an oval shaped stone mount with pave set diamonds , atop a rectangular base , and the other is a bezel set single diamond on a sunburst that follows the graduating size of the band , I usually wear one or the other on my right ring finger or the larger one on ring finger and single stone on middle finger if I wear both , I also have an oval black onyx ring set in rose gold that I will wear on it's own on either of those fingers on my right hand , but never with any other as the rose gold and yellow gold seem to make the rose gold look cheap ...

this was really fascinating to watch! I knew there was some meanings to what finger you wear rings on, but never knew the full details so this has been very educational!
I personally wear only silver rings, except for a black stone ring i wear on my left thumb, one on my middle left and on my right i wear on my pointer and middle. They're all of viking style, so they have a lot of meaning for me as I'm Norwegian, but not the thumb ring.

  • @cerepopenkovskis
    @cerepopenkovskis 9 วันที่ผ่านมา

Hi there. I have been obsessed with rings since my childhood. Long story short - eventually i got many many rings and i wear them almost every day on many or all fingers, as i feel necessary. Sometimes i don't wear rings at all for many days...
But here is about fingers -
THE THUMB - if you like to wear on the thumb, it means that you're the man, you're the guy who is very confident and knows it's worth. You don't care who looks at you or how, cause you know that you're always kinda alright with your own opinions, and there are no obstacles that can't be handled. On the other way, wearing it on non dominant hand, may tell that you might be quite different - you don't care about anything, cause you're deep in your life and going where you should go, like an individual who's just being and doing whatever feels right. So, if you wear on thumb, gotta tell you that you're the "one" that knows what's going on, even if it doesn't seem so..
INDEX/POINTER FINGER - just like an arrow or a bullet the index finger is like a gun, be careful how u use it. You can wear a red stone or black stone rings to affirm dominance and power. Also leadership, inspirations, intentions... Wear significant rings that affirms your worth and possibilities.
MIDDLE FINGER - this is the "beauty/phylosophy" finger. It connects one to the cosmos and thought patterns. Wear a simple but very wide ring to establish mindfulness, simplicity, grace, or wear a very delicate or extravagant ring, as this is the middle of your hand, the very center of attention. Choose carefully a ring that don't get caught up in things. But if you wear on the middle one - it simply says "hey i respect elegance and fashion and i appreciate how i am".
RING FINGER - on the right hand it is like - i care what i do, i appreciate what is done, and I'll keep doing what i like. I try to understand and respect you, and you can relay on me as a man of promise. On the left hand it's more like - i like to love and feel. It reminds how nice can a life be, and how to enjoy it with someone or just me. So wear a ring that means a lot to you, on that finger.
PINKY - this is the expression finger, the artistic one, musicians, artists, actors, comedians or even very serious guys tend to wear a ring there, because it brings out the Character, and Charisma. The pinky finger can be a special place for any talent or ability that you like to express or even discuss.
I wear many rings on multiple fingers, for each day accordingly to how i feel and what i need.
    Thank you :)

Only one ring bonus can be active per hand, but you can attune as many rings as you have fingers (they don't actually have to be on each finger, you can double up or whatever as long as they are worn on the relevant hand) and they remain attuned even while the bonus is inactive.

I have always enjoyed my collection of rings--numbering around two dozen. I only wear one ring constantly, it is an inherited wedding band worn on my right hand that I rarely remove. Many years ago, I designed a custom setting for an inherited half-carat diamond. I was foreseeing that someday I could have other coloured stones in my collection: tsavorite--the rarest of the garnet family; a rare Yogo sapphire (from my home state), and pigeon blood ruby, each individually placed in identical settings. In this way, I can match a coloured stone ring with a diamond ring and wear it as a triple with the band on my right hand or stacked as two on my left ring finger.
Later, I added two more diamond rings. These six rings allow for many combinations between the six stones. All the rings (and others in my collection) have significant memories. It is heartening to remember those people and events when I glance at my hand(s).

It is traditionally worn on the index finger but im a very large man and it just would not do to have the band altered. Left pinky holds a signet ring for another side of the family. Again. Traditionally worn on index but...large fingers.
Another is an intentionally unfinished silver wedding ring on the base of my left index finger. Im not yet married but i am engaged.
An occupationally related ring is on the middle section of my left index finger.
I wear a ring on my left thumb which is a coin flipping ring.
On my right thumb is a thieve's ring.
On my right index finger is a ring symbolic of an organization i started, thus the reason for its prominent placement.
Finally on my right middle finger is a ring carved from a fairly large blood stone i found on my family land when i was younger and used to keep in a stone collection. Its engraved with elder futhark runes surrounded by a yew needle and yew berry wreath, as i am norse and have a deep appreciation for my people's ancient mythos.

I’m really reserved and while I get that some people may occasionally find me attractive, I don’t want to deal with it, or get their hopes up, or have them bring up conversation. My parents realized it was a cause of consternation and made my anxiety worse and helped out with it; I’d never have thought of it!
It works really really well and the people who still pester me are automatically out, because they’re not the type of guy I’d want. I call it my Ring of Power, because it makes me nearly invisible, or as close as I can get. 😂
Now I’m *actually* engaged and my head and heart are so full of him that I hardly notice if I’m being hit on, on those rare occasions I’m out, and my Ring of power can finally be retired. 😁

I often also use it as part of a Captain Hook (Once Upon a Time) cosplay, in which case I wear it on my right hand with a smaller silver ring on my index finger and a cheap skull-and-crossbones costume ring on my thumb. I wear 4. Right hand, first finger and third finger. Left hand, second finger and fourth finger. Feels right for me in that order and more balanced. None on the finger where a wedding band is supposed to go because I feel it’s reserved for that (my opinion), and I’m not married.

personally I wear two rings. I wear my father's wedding band on my right ring finger. He gave me the band when he and my mother got a divorce. When he passed away in April I wear it to keep him close. The other ring I wear is another band which was (yes WAS) my own engagement ring and I wear it on my left pinky (because over the years my fingers have gotten thicker.) I keep it for a few reasons, the biggest because I have a bracelet and cross necklace that matches the inlay design on the ring (my mother has a matching bracelet and the cross was one my great grandmother picked out for me.) The other reason I wear it is to remind myself of what real love felt like because the girl I was engaged to was the only one I'd ever proposed to, and it reminds me to keep that feeling fresh in my mind despite how many years its been so I'll be able to recognize that feeling again in my next relationship, and propose to the girl who makes me feel that way again. Any piece of jewelry I wear always has some kind of significant and important meaning to me.
