    I was very sceptic when I clicked on this video, but I have to say the photos were actually amazing.

      Hahaha. Yea. Definitely a little bit of a click-bait-y title. But thanks. I do appreciate the support and your kind words. :)

    These pictures are perfectly insane. Oh and the colors, the dynamic range, just gorgeous. I'm blown away by these, thoroughly inspired. Thanks for posting!

      Thanks so much! I really appreciate it. It is mind blowing how much detail can be retained in Portra. It just can do so much!

    Probably one of the greatest rolls I witnessed here on YT. It hit the feels. The film Gods graced you. Perfect compostion, perfect mastery of the Mamiya and perfect light. The holy film trinity. Good sh*t. May you enter the flow state again. Reminds me of the time I shot portraits with portra 160 on my Pentax 67. Not my typical film, not my typical street camera. And it's my perfect roll (120). Cheers!

      @JTobiason  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you so much. That day was magical. And way to go with the Pentax. I've never shot one of those, but my RZ67 also really loves Portra 160. It's also so fun when you find the combination that works

    Beautiful images Joe. The compositions look well thought out and immersive. And the light is soft and alive in these photos. Well done!

    • @JTobiason
      @JTobiason  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks so much! I'm so glad to hear they came out soft. Because about 1/2 of them had soft light and half were pretty harsh, but I wanted the whole set to feel cohesive.

    With color negative and a good light meter, technical mistakes aren't too hard to avoid, but getting the lighting, composition, and stillness right is where the marvel really if for this roll. Great shots!

    Yes! I could feel the wabi sabi flow state in your photos when you first showed the roll (before you even mentioned about the flow). Well done!
    For me, flow is when I forget about my migraine pains when I go out and make photos.
    Keep it up!
    Are you still using the mamiya 6?

    • @JTobiason

    I want a travel camera that is passible with portraits --- is this it? Should I consider the Ga645 instead?

    • @JTobiason
      @JTobiason  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I'm sure that's a good one. I haven't ever had the opportunity to use one though. But shooting in 6x4.5 would be nice to have more photos per roll.

    These are incredible.what were you using for exposure meter, and the light is so beautiful in that first image! Is that bleed just natural with the film+lens

    • @JTobiason
      @JTobiason  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      THanks! I usually use meter app on my phone with this camera. It seems to be a little too highlight-weighted. So I've found that using an external meter usually is better.

  • @haimtoeg
    @haimtoeg 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Very nice video and fabulous images. Can I ask what lens you used? Some of them look like 50mm, the others not sure.

    • @JTobiason
      @JTobiason  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks so much! All are with the Mamiya 75mm f3.5 for the Mamiya 6. That lens acts very similar to a 50mm lens in a normal full frame camera. 👍

    • @haimtoeg
      @haimtoeg 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@JTobiason thanks for the response, I was actually thinking of the Mamiya 50mm lens.

  • @jpkim15
    @jpkim15 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Great video. Do you use the mamiya 6 exposure compensation "dial" to over expose?

    • @JTobiason
      @JTobiason  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think I usually leave the exposure lever at about +1/3 and then often set the ISO to be 1/3 of a stop under. But, I also don't really trust the meter in this camera. I only really use it in consistent light or as a backup check on my other readings.

    • @JTobiason

      I think that there are combinations between cameras/films/settings that work especially well together. I could say it a different way, but learning those combinations is vital.
