I'd like to point out that speakers of the western tibetic branches speak one of the purest and archaic forms of the Tibetan language, these include people of Kinanur, Lahaul & Spiti, Ladakh, Kashmir, Ngari (Tibet), Gilgit and Baltistan and even those from Amdo. These regions are historically classified as "western tibet" , which was the land of the aryans or "Arya", the initial bon religion worshippers and followers of Tonpa Sherap, who was a Tajiki himself, having migrated from the Pamirs, and his disciples from the greater steppes of Central Asia and the Karakoram, the original inhabitants of Western Central Tibet (Ngari, Purang) and Ladakh, Baltistan, were all Indo Europeans, particularly Iranic people, in Ladakh known as the Mons, a people group closely related to Dards, who are found scattered all throughout Kashmir and POK, and northern Pakistan. The Bon religion is very similar to Zoroastrianism, you can see bon worshippers in the Iranic populations of Pakistan, with the Kalash, Baltis, etc. The region of Amdo is also very complex, the earliest settlers in the region were people related to the Scynthians, who were Iranic, who were great horsemen who used the great steppes to their advantage, mummifications and stone inscriptions are found all over Amdo and the Xinjiang Uyghur region. The Chinese have tried to destroy us and our heritage, but they will not take away our history.

How could Sakya Pandita have left in 1206 to meet Godan Khan, when Godan had been born in 1206?

I was there for this lecture in Delhi by chance and left midway because I couldn't get the logic behind diving so deep into the history - the dates, backgrounds, places, incidences etc.! The only thing important for anyone seeking higher understanding is to experientially know what Buddha preached without getting into all the dissections of his preachings they made after his demise and run their own sects, monasteries & schools to justify their lavish needs. It's such a waste of intellect. This is what happens to all of them, from Jesus to Osho Rajneesh. They crucify them, brand them, market them and then start multi-billion dollar Vaticans in their name. This is what we did to Mahatma Gandhi - shot him, divided India and put his picture on every currency note.

It's a historical talk, not a religious discourse. You fail to understand the entire point of scholastic research, and clearly have no appreciation for the study of history and religious studies. Just because you are not interested in the history of Kashmir and Tibet does not mean that its intrinsic value is in any way lessened. It's easy to be self-righteous when you refuse to even listen to what's being said. Again, this lecture is not supposed to be a spiritual teaching.

History add authenticity. Note the discovery of Nalanda university was based on the travelogue written by Heun Tsang.

James Mallinson has a great paper on this. Shaivism saved Buddhism from disappearing completely

@Jian Ma Shaivism is Tantra, the Divine Feminine, the Unconscious of all Hindu Religions, the eternal thread, it most certainly did NOT dis-appear from India and your statement is so absurd it literally hurts my brain reading it.

      Three main causes for that!
      1. Bhramin (presently know as Hindu) was the first main cause for that, they killed Buddhist monk and their family who follow Buddha and destroyed monasteries.
      2. Adhi Sankharacharya killed thousands of Buddhist monks in North India and their families also. And destroyed their homes and monesteries.
      3. Muslim rulers with the help of Hindu rulers both attacked remaining people and monks, killed and burned their scriptures for 6 months and destroyed their residential places.
That’s how Buddhism disappeared from Indian by two religious rituals Muslim and Hindu
