After the Burial does it better though. ATB grooves like no other. I'd much rather listen to literally any ATB album than this Wage War album. It's not a good sign if the best track on the album sounds like a different band entirely.

I can agree that they sound pretty typical for metalcore but for me they've mastered it. I really like the blend of calm and banger songs every album.
Experiments are good, but some times you need some good old metalcore, that where Wage War perfectly fits in for me.

Honestly, I love the album. Not one song i do not like but i am more into the generic feel. One thing i will say though is that i generally do not listen to songs that only have screams. I usually like the poppy cleans and so on but Death roll i just cannot stop listening to. There is just something about that song that gets me going. Along with High Horse. But for me, well done Wage War. It is generic but i am into that very much like Memphis May Fire. Very generic and very predictable but... bands like wage war and MMF are the best at this type of generic sound in my opinion so i will gladly accept and play on repeat. I respect your opinion though. I think most of your viewers will and should accept that this is just not your thing so keep doing what you do. It is great content.

I also feel that Wage has been in the game longer, in terms of what people deem as the flagships of metalcore. By no means am i undermining the success of either band. Though it is Spiritbox’s first album, one that got a lot coverage and a lot of people like. Doesn’t happen often. I feel Manic is not as bland metalcore as some are saying. You can see where they want to diverge in terms of production and even some song writing.
I don’t feel like it was quite enough to impress people. Wage has done most of this before, and I feel like that’s why people are deeming it “bland.” My literal biggest criticism on the entire album is just the choruses. Not that they’re objectively badly written, but they cookie-cutter them so much. High Horse, Manic, and Death Roll step away from those choruses and you see most often those are the highlights for people. Just an interesting point in my eyes

I personally like the album very much. Why? I think the band just continued to develop the last album "Pressure", although I think this album is even harder than Pressure. The album has really cool neck breakers Death Roll, High Horse and also very good metal ballads like Slow Burn and Never Say Goodbye, which still have good break downs. But honestly, what do you expect from Wage War? Great breakdowns, beautiful melodies and songs that jump and pop in your face. And that's exactly what this album has. We clearly have a further development of the band from the last album, which I personally found very awesome. What also fascinates me about this band is that the two singers complement each other perfectly and just do a great job. You can still find comparable cool things at Bury Tomorrow. I would therefore like to hold up the flag for this album and just tell you that the album is great fun and that you can access it without hesitation. Greetings from Germany.

But them putting out the exact same record four times is kinda old. And don't get me wrong, I love every single song they've put out. There's not one miss. But when it all sounds so similar all the time for 5 or so years it gets kinda repetitive. I feel like they'll really start to fall off if they don't bring something new and great and innovative with their next record. *Don't get this mixed up cause Wage War is literally like Top 3 bands of all time for me and I've been a fan since literally the day Blueprints came out and I saw them on Warped in 16 so there is absolutely no hate in this comment*

I never understood the theory of X band sounds the same the entire way through so it sucked... I mean. Yea! Thats kinda how that should go to point. Im not a fan when a band changes up that much. Like... Whitechapel comes to mind. I mean good for them honestly, but when I think of them I think of those crushing lows, those grooves, that specific sound they bring, and when I want to hear that sound thats what I turn to because I know thats what they produce.
Wage War is a band that has a certain sound to them, as all bands do. I was not a fan of their last album, but this to me sounds like... well... Wage War! I love it! If I wanted them to sound like... Veil of Maya, Id go listen to Veil. If I wanted them to sound like Thy Art Is Murder, id go listen to Thy Art Is Murder. If I wanted them to sound like... Taylor Swift... I mean... you get the picture. When I want to listen to Wage War I want them to sound like Wage War, so to me, this album Slaps! There is also enough little changes here and there to show they have grown and can twist their sound, but it still sounds like them.

There were a few tracks on this record that I clung to, but for me it was an overall okay record. Blueprints and Deadweight are superior of course, but Death Roll did it for me on this record.
I liked the record overall, but I have my issues with it.

Glad you didn’t really enjoy this album cause this band and this genre of metalcore has been overdone and repetitive for so long. If you want a really heavy and interesting album this week? The band Frontierer is for you

Some of the heavy stuff is really good but it takes a backseat to so much butt-Rock. ….gateway band

This reaction feels like cognitive dissonance the movie. It feels like and looks like you really like it but then you explain why you actually didnt like it. Its like the reaction to when your friend doesnt reply to you for 5 days but then he buys you 5 bars of chocolate

Good album in my opinion, better than Pressure IMO but both still very catchy to me. I can see why you wouldn’t like it tho

Is it just me, or is Death roll just Behold the Crown by After the Burial. I like it, but they are basically the same riff.

As a new viewer I appreciate you commentary on the album...Gets me to see a different perspective. I kept my expectations in check for this album and went in expecting something similar to Pressure and I feel personally I was pleasantly surprised. After 3 listens through I would easily give this album at least a 9 in my opinion.

I actually really enjoy this album. I take it for what it is, a modern metalcore album. For me its like a cool blend of the old and new era of this band. Death roll S.L.A.P.S tho.
But my mannnn, pleasssseeeeee do an album reaction of Das Album from wbtbwb!! This one is insaneeeeee start to finish.

"Breakdown city" throughout this entire record, and I've said it before, but as predictable as their song structure is in songs this entire record is a step up from "Pressure". Plus, "Death Roll" in my opinion is their heaviest track to date. Awesome job WW!!!
