I was worried it might be distracting, but it's good for me to articulate what I'm doing as well - when we tried that a couple days ago I found it made me focus a bit more on what I'm doing and why I'm doing things. This is the perfect excuse for me to go back out and get more flying this summer!
@@ArmSoar Normally, rc soaring videos are boring as hell. But with moment-to-moment commentary by an experienced pilot, they're interesting. I tried 'talking to myself' this morning while looking for lift in early morning air, and it did add clarity to my flying.

Just completed a sub-250 gram Snipe 2 electric... Fury is now on my "next" list. Thomas, we should talk about ways to promote F5K in eastern Canada. There are a few big clubs here that would surely be interested if a contest or two were organized with prizes and promotion. And yes, I often find good air around 5-7 pm late summer -- schools (when closed) are always good because of the asphalt around the school and the flat roof generate heat/lift.
It's to adjust my circling to try to get into the better part of the lift. You can shift the circle by extending a part of the circle and shortening the other side, or you can swap the turn direction in some cases.
#1 rule-NO MOTORS AT KENNEDY! Only DLG, Bungee, rubber power, and hand launch! It took some effort to convince the school board to allow us to fly on this field as they didn't want motorized park aircraft zooming overhead. They were convinced that glow/fuel powered planes would be disruptive, and their speed presented a hazard to the area. Flying there is a privilege- don't blow it for us East Bay pilots.
This depends on your layup and gear. But this one is a Standard layup with 4 KST X08 servos, T-Motor 1507, ArmSoar 2S 520mAh LiHV, Sunnysky 30A ESC, and a Spektrum AR6610T receiver in original case. AUW is around 255-260 grams.
Hi Thomas Im loving the Vibe 2. I'm wanting to go with a Fury soon. Do the electrics 'float' like DLGs or do they feel heavier? Is it harder to find thermals with the extra weight? Dumb question since I was allowed to fly a real glider once...and it wasnt feather light.
The Vibe 2 is a special, special DLG. The way it floats and grabs onto air is hard to recreate in today's models. If the electric DLG is just an updated fuselage to fit an electric motor but using the same wing and aero design (as most of the market's offerings), then you'll notice a significant difference in the way the models handle as it will be carrying quite a bit of extra weight. On the other hand, the Fury was purpose designed for the task, so the wing is quite a big bigger in area and chord to help with the wing loading, and optimized for low-level thermal flying.
I'm going to tell the boss I need to go out and practice more.... for work purposes of course.

he's flying a "Fury" imported/co-developed by his company -- Armsoar. They have a website and sell DLG and now powered DLG.
Correct! This is the Fury F5K electric glider. However, it's not co-developed, all ArmSoar branded models are our own designs and production :)
