So OW2 made barely more money than OW1 in roughly the same timeframe with MTX.. yet the avg player gets waaaay less value out of the game (in terms of skins). What a disaster.
honestly, sounds like a perfect example of a modern game sequel. Give'em less and let them pay more for it so we end up at the same income for less work.
I’m frustrated when I hear that “games are now so expensive to make” and the next day I read on how much Kotick got in his paychecks and how much money actiblizzard games made for investors. It’s just beyond me. Disgusting.
Games do cost more to make than 15 years ago, but they also make 10x more money than they did 15 years ago. Imagine you run a gold mine, and in the last 10 years the operational costs doubled, but, your sales increased x10. Thats what happened. They are making more money
@@ub3rfr3nzy94 Mah man, haven't you heard? They're making less. The billionare paying himself hundrets of millions every year said so himself. And would Uncle Bobby lie to us?
@@ub3rfr3nzy94 I get your point, but the numbers are even more insane. - Games are sold as digital keys, boatloads of them (AAA games can sell 10+ million copies!). Obviously digital keys are cheaper to "produce" and distribute than boxed copies. - Microtransaction BS was cranked up to eleven, further making every player much more profitable. - AAA titles get sequels and re-releases that actually make money AGAIN much faster than in years past. Meaning less effort, for more money. AAA titles don't make 10 times more than in the good old times, they make at least 100 times more. Spending 100 million, to make a billion is the minimum goal most folks like Kotick have, hence maximum short term profit is the one and only goal.
i cannot believe they let Soe (who is the most recognizable face in OW esport) announce the new OWCS only to lay her off a week later. genuinely unbelievable

that's honestly really sad. i watched OWL for the first 2-3 years and she was always so fun to watch. it sucks that they did her dirty like that, she deserved better
Nobody can tell me that Bobby's move of "adding a 0" to the League fee was anything but pure greed. Having teams cost 2.5m instead of 25m $ would have looked way better from the start.
it's dumb to me there is that much money involved in a game with constant balance issues for a pro sport competitive environment. I never really understood why world of warcraft arena became an esport too. thats way too much money predicated on wishy washy power balancing.
I haven't touched a Blizzard game since the situation with Blitz Chung, and I never will. Fuck that company. I only feel for the people just trying to make a living.
ah esports, its like owning a boat, cool at first, then you start shoving money into it nonstop, and what once was interesting, becomes a moneypit. they never learn.
Thing is it doesn't have to. Bandai Namco doesn't shove a huge amount of money onto esports. It is sustainable. Riot and Blizzard look at the NFL and go like: "oH, ESpORTS sHouLD Be ProFeSIonAL LIke thIS!!", then monopolize the leagues/tournaments and make a shitshow that doesn't generate enough revenue due to having a lower fanbase and esports being mostly online, while the teams deal with a fuckton of costs.
Mere hours before this video was posted, they literally just laid off a ton of people integral to the new Overwatch Esports project. Pretty sure that venture is going to fail now too.
Pretty sure its more likely to succeed now that it isnt so inflated with a bunch of bloated contracts. They needed to downscale massively and people who dont see that, dont know anything about business.
@@georgealvarez1195 you really think that an Esports project for Overwatch will succeed now, that people have been fired after the previous Esports league failed spectacularly. Yeah, cause you know about business lol
@zztzgza well a more focused approach can lead to better prospects. This happened with 343 on halo infinite. This past year they did very well once they restructured
Do you really think investing in employees-who do all of the actual work and labor-is just “wasting money”? Do you think work magically happens without people doing that work? If they layoff that many people, it’s clear that they don’t care how the product turns out.
September, the name OVERWATCH: NEXT was making the rounds and it was being said this was Overwatch in maintenance mode after a major update. I guess everyone forgot?
I LOVED OW1, I played it every day. It was so good, and then they took the game i purchased away and turned it into a piece of shit. I'll only go back if they change it back to it's original vision of 6v6
Yeah I agree, I miss the days of dps heroes being so useless people started going 3 tanks 1 dps and 2 supports. I miss the days of the game allowing you to pick 2 winstons, 2 tracers and 2 lucios. Man the days of double barriers were always super fun to play as well, stacking gold damage by only shooting barriers gave such a dopamine rush. I miss the best maps ever created (voskaya, anubis, lunar colony and hanamura). I miss the days of 6v6 where nothing died until ults were used and your guns were reduced to building ult charge. I miss the glory days of 90% of the dps roster being useless and only burst heros were used since nothing else did meaningful damage. I miss the days where everyone only played zayra and hanzo and made the game into who did grav + dragon better than the other team doing the exact same thing. I miss the unforgettable days of everyone having CC and ccing everyone especially the tanks, the tanks really enjoyed that part. I miss ow1 so much, they need to bring all those experiences back!
@nazzify6417 Same can be said about 5v5, things can be fixed. Which btw a lot of people with rose tinted nostalgia glasses on seem to forget how we got to the point of 5v5. In OW1 there was an experimental playlist, which was 5v5 with super buffed tanks, guess what? The community loved it and wanted it. If 6v6 was this glorious thing, the community wouldn't of wanted it 5v5 in the first place.
My favorite was mystic heroes. But these days it isn't very fun. Both the downgrade to 5 team members (less chance at getting a good team randomly), and the fact there are more heroes now so chances you get something you still haven't gotten good at is larger now, leading to more sucking and losing. Maybe if they made Mysticer Heroes, where you get to pick 3 tanks, 5 dps, 3 healers that you'll randomly play as, it would become fun again. They did experiement with quicker play after all.
This was peak Overwatch. Best state the game was in, ever. All they needed to do was rework sigma and double shield could have been solved. Look at all the work they did instead to create this mess. Like trying to build a pyramid upset down.
@@WerewolfKweefor just give people some time to develop strategies against double shield... Give players time and they'll shift metas, once they get bored of blindly following whatever's advertized as strong on youtube Symetra-Bastion was already a thing
Overwatch two was already shafting players way before this. The damage was already done, but I didn't realise they would be sinking lower. Then i remembered, it's Activision/Blizzard.
Left OW2 because of the direction they we're going and after cutting out all that pve content. Sad to see its getting even worse, was hoping to come back after a good major overhaul of the game.
The Moira bundle killed any chance of me spending money on Blizzard MTX. It's not that I can't afford, I just can't justify it. Meanwhile Palworld and Enshrouded together cost roughly the same. They dug their own hole.
These leaks are just more evidence that the Overwatch team doesn't have a shred of a clue on how to balance or fix the game. Overwatch is beyond redemption at this point because I know for a fact they don't have the balls to revert to Overwatch 1 style 6v6, when the game was still actually good.
No no no, they can't go back as they really had to completely redo the engine to unable PvE..... Ooooh wait OW2 is just a poor excuse to strip out the previous monetization for a far more aggressive predatory monetization practices.
13:16 ...that's literally what OW2 was suppose to be. It was _SUPPOSED_ to be OW1 revamped to 5v5 for free and OW2 tacked on for a separate cost with the focus of PVE and (most especially) lore, the thing they did best. They utterly _gutted_ PvE and wildly overcharged for it to make up for the development cost of all the things we didn't get. They have failed miserably at delivering both PvP and PvE because of this dogmatic survivorship bias. They insist on a failing methodology over and over and over again not seeming to understand that they systematically gutted the parts of the game that made it unique and desirable to a broader audience in favor of appeasing DPS that frankly have better options for shooters out there (which is why they will continue to leak players like a sieve). The worst part is the damage is already done; even if they did attempt to relaunch PvE as it's own thing (again) it's going to be dead on arrival because the trust on the community's side is just dead and _gone_ at the point.
OW3 will be the specialized OW2 version where they cut out the PvE to focus more on PvP. (Also, there are now loot boxes which you have to buy keys for)

It really doesn't matter if they use the PTR for testing, because they have never iterated on any of the PTR builds anyway. "It turned out better than expected" and then they just ship it. I don't remember a time they changed anything after a PTR test. So why not just push it to live immediately anyway, lol.
I left when they kept breaking promises and withholding important changes to the last minute to be announced for for Overwatch 2; if I can't trust the guys in charge. I'm not going to invest my time/money in something that is not reliable.
It's a shame MS didn't fire Aaron Keller when they were doing all those layoffs. For that matter, the entire balancing team should be fired. Overwatch has never had good balance, but it's gotten infinitely worse since OW2 launched. I don't think they even playtest half the stuff they implement, they just shove it in the game and see how it goes. Actually, now that I think of it...they should just delete OW2 entirely and turn the OW1 servers back on. After all, we WERE told that OW1 would run alongside OW2, but Blizzard reneged on that and forcibly "upgraded" everyone to OW2.
Bullshit, they have always said that it would be one client, one game. And the game was in a good state balance-wise up until season 3 when some devs got shifted around and we ended up with Alec Dawson and Jared Neuss who are both fucking clueless as to what they are doing with this game.
@@v1kzu no, originally they said that OW1 and OW2 would be separate. OW1 players would get all the new heroes and PVP maps, but if you wanted the PVE stuff you'd have to buy OW2. Part of the reason was because the OW1 engine supposedly wasn't able to do all the fancy weather and lighting effects they talked about putting in the PVE stuff. Of course that never happened, and moving everything over to the new engine broke a lot of things, so the whole thing was just a waste of time and money.
Your comment about firing the whole balancing team is soo true for me . Aaron & co are indeed clueless and they double down all the time while spewing more BS
I can't really say weither the leaks would end up being that bad without seeing it in practice. But thats beside the point anyway. Everyone I know who played Overwatch didn't stop due to the core mechanics, even though there were always some issues. Everyone stopped due to terrible support by Actiblizz. And the early excitement for Overwatch 2 quickly died again after the laughable monetization model went live. Overwatch didn't die through any fault of the devs. It was killed by executive greed.
what exactly is this change to skill floor or skill ceiling? i completely disagree with this take and would like to hear a real argument. what is certainly going to change is the TTK is going up, but that doesn't affect either skill floor nor ceiling, and removing oneshots such as hanzo makes the game less frustrating and more predictable regardless of skill.
@@ParasocialCatgirl my point is that those changes do nothing regarding skill floor or ceiling. the idea that it does makes no sense, and i'd like to hear an actual argument of how it does.
5:19 lol what is wrong about his post? that's not at all psychotic that guy is just based as hell...psychotic is going on a mass-hiring spree based on what were obviously temporary government kickbacks, putting all those people on projects that should never have been started, and then pulling the rug on all of them as soon as the going got tough, all while constantly reporting record profits, MAU's, and "bright futures ahead", basically none of the psycho's making these decisions will suffer consequences from this
When games became commodity to make wealth (not money, wealth) from, it was down hill for the gaming industry....where games where made for the investor calls rather then for the users....
So they've completely abandoned the PVE they promised and are doing a lot of changes that seem to be about making the game easier and more fun for casual players to try and make up for the lost player base of dedicated fans. While at the same time trying to make it into an esport. I hope it works out, I know a lot of people that enjoy the game and I don't want it to die, but it really seems like they are desperately trying two contradictory approaches to getting themselves out of the grave Kotick dug while spending the least amount of money possible.
You don't make a game into an E-sport and don't control it. It just becomes one due to the game being fun to play and fun to watch. Look at Starcraft. Blizzard didn't intend to make it into an E-Sport, it just became one.
It doesn't matter that blizzard was burned down prior to the merger. The acquisition of one of the largest game studios on earth grows the Microsoft monopoly regardless to the revenue of any of the games. Having a failing blizzard under their own ownership is far more significant than trying to compete.
@@YourBlackLocal No, it developed organically through grass roots organization. Blizzard tried to be super hands on with OW esports because they wanted to control the esports scene from the jump and rake in more profit from it, but by not allowing it to grow organically they also sort of hamstrung it and wasted a ton of money up front.
Activision has always had the business plan of squeeze squeeze squeeze and then eventually kill it off. OW2 has been a product of that squeezing rather than be a product of old Blizzard. All of the microtransactions and the disappointing single player stuff and all the negative PR in general that people pass along whether they play or not has taken it's toll on the populace. Instead of trying to make current players happy, keep word of mouth positive and giving a good value for money spent. OW2 has been the opposite of all of that as Bobby only believes in SQUEEZE. I am hoping they are slimming down on their current direction with OW2 and plan for a reboot that delivers on what they had scoped in the past and are given the time/money to do that.
None of the game designers that made Blizzard great work there any more. Blizzard owns the properties, but they'll never be able to make a great new game
it's crazy to me that Widowmaker is getting her one shot taken away. She literally has a voice line that says it. She should be the only one in the game who can do that, otherwise, wtf is she.
How fitting, that they are trying to revive the Overwatch League... even more now as Johanna Faries - the new president of Blizzard - is the same exec, who was brought in by Bobby Kotzbrocken to establish a CoD eSports-League and who was also in charge of the (now failed) Overwatch League. Great to hear, that they are now trying a more "StarCraft II"-approach, after she tanked the league with her 12 year career in marketing strategy and business development with the NFL... But I wonder how the massive layoffs to the league-team fit into the "reviving the league"-schtick. At least she likes to play Diablo IV, CoD and BG3; so she is "one of us" [insert "How do you feel, fellow kids?"-Meme here]
I have roughly 400-500 hours sunken into OW. Making OW2 5v5 and more focused on shooting rather than ability use completely lost me as a player. The game feels less like a hero shooter and more like...a shooter. Like people were saying, more like CoD. I don't want OW to be CoD. So yes, they've definitely lost me as a player. I haven't put more than 10 hours into OW2. And the PvE news completely killed the game for me.
To be brutally honest. I was set to never touch Blizzard product again. They made one product worse than the other, I removed their game client in anger cutting ties with people still staying there. So far removing Bobby, removing the ppl who couldn't make a product worth it's price and weeding out the rotten culture the only way it's possible... a move like this was the only way that could restore some trust in Blizzard. Now let's wait for what comes in the future and maybe I'll even give Blizzard another chance now that it's barely Blizzard anymore.
Economic 101 is that, if you're not selling enough, particularly of a product with an ongoing unit cost of basically zero, you lower the price. These guys decided to sell a $40 thing to 100 people instead of a $10 thing to 1,000.
Remeber how the overwatch teams keeps promising to be more transparent, well they broke that promise again, and now they have no control over the narrative, again. Sorry but Keller is not up to the task.
I miss Overwatch 1. Had a lot of fun on that game over the years, without spending any money beyond the purchase price. Overwatch 2 feels like crap to play, I hate the way it looks(like a barely modified version of 1, but worse), and I despise the monetization model. Oh, and no Single Player Story campaign.
Customer support is going to be 100% outsourced to gpt, I have had gpt like experiences with support tickets already. I am surprised no one is talking about this
I always felt Paladins was a way better game then overwatch. I love playing the test level templates, so much more creative level design and experiences than what overwatch ever offered. I should clarify I haven't played either since 2020 though, got bored of the format.
K.P.I. means Key Performance Indicators a industry term that relates to a company meeting it goals in the timely production, stocking and sale of the product to the customer, many forklift drivers and stock workers dread this term.........
At this point, given the sheer amount of time that we all have known just how crooked and systemically broken this massive corporation has been, I no longer feel like I should only be critical of leadership. If you're still working for these gluttonous, greedy, vaguely man shaped skin tags after all this time, you kinda deserve an unceremonious layoff. And I'm saying this as someone who trusted one of these corporations and got a surprise holiday layoff.
I stopped playing Overwatch before Overwatch 2 launched, not because the game wasn't fun - in fact it was a blast. I quit because the community became too toxic. People screaming about not running the meta in quick match unranked games was a real quick way to make the game unfun. The game doesn't need fixing, the community does.
@@Garrus-nu2hh true, there are a lot of toxic communities. I feel certain brands attract certain player types that can sometimes become toxic, Blizzard being one of them. Most FPS games are full of them too. Maybe it's an unsolvable issue as long as testosterone hyped teen boys are involved. Lol
I've seen takeovers happen, especially of failing companies. There is a lot of fat to be trimmed when a company and its teams cant produce good content. And lets not kid ourselves, if anyone at microsoft has been keeping up with overwatch content, or god forbid has played it, then it was pretty obvious that the overwatch team is utterly incompetent based on their track record post-release of OV1. Yes it's sad that people are losing jobs, and quite a lot of the crap was likely not their fault, but holy shit can we face the reality of the last 5+ years for a second?
They can relaunch and rebrand and revamp whatever they want. They have killed any interest in their franchise by mismanaging, lying, and misrepresenting the sequel as, well, a sequel. It's not a sequel. It's a cash shop patch. It is a net negative for the game as a whole, and I for one will not give them my MAU metric or especially any of my money for a game that treats me like a moron. No fuckin' thanks. I'm super happy to hear Overwatch is doing poorly. It should do poorly after the dogshit stunt they pulled. They somehow managed to make a *GREAT* game into a pile of shit in under 2 years.
I haven't touched OW2 for many seasons, and I played OW1 almost daily. The core game is always fun and I want to go back. The issue for me is I have nothing to play for. Ranked has been terrible so why go for those rewards; and all the good content is now paywalled with no free track. I just see no point anymore
It's funny that you could say the exact same thing about the Diablo 4 team lol. Bless their hearts for trying but somehow they manage to mess up in a spectacular fashion every season.
Just another trash game with trash developers making trash decisions and then doubling and quadrupling down on them. These are only leaks and already its gonna be worse than the POS we have already as "OW2".
14:47 if you pair this with the axing of OWL, it certainly feels like the devs are trying to cater more to the casual crowd (aka their market majority) now. That being said, they also abandoned PvE mode which was arguably the biggest feature that the casual crowd wanted from the game so....good luck with that, Blizzard. 🙃
New and casual players consistently get matched with Master and Grand Master level players in non-competitive lobbies... if this is Blizzard "catering" to these players, the revenue drop tracks HARD...
I love that after skyrim horse armor we got blizzard putting all their effort into cosmetics and charging twice what the horse armor cost and it has become their entire identity
I loved Overwatch when it released. Then they spent six years systematically destroying everything good about it. I wish I could feel sorry for the devs who worked to make that happen, but I simply don't. Hard reset needed, fire them all, reconstitute a new team with a new vision and respect for what Overwatch was supposed to be. These layoffs don't go far enough.
OW is a terrible game, that is terribly managed, and everyone believed that MS was going to save the game, and they could have. How much more is the OW community willing to take before enough is enough?
Overwatch Devs and the community- it's like the saddest kind of love story where it starts amazing and falls apart slowly over years with constant hopes that it'll be what it once was with all new ways to massively break your heart. They accidentally made the best game that ever was and destroyed it because they are not capable of understanding gaming/rewards systems or anything of why the game was actually good. Homogenized bs where everyone can be happy on torb and junk and mei while Cass and Genji players laugh at themselves for reaching for greatness and being stomped on by noob booster memes. At least all the casuals will be happy for 14 seconds until they do sometime else because that's what casuals do. What's our newest answer for this? Lets make all hard to play heroes easy too because any would anyone ever want to apply themselves to do challenging things in our game again? That's definitely not what this game had the allure of, once upon a time
overwatch has been doomed since competitive released, people just didn't see it at the time. there's no saving this game at this point, it's over. EDIT: also I know how the game will play if those changes are real - characters like widow will become completely gutter tier trash because she already struggles to one-tap most targets. brawly style combat will favor certain champs and others will get dumpstered and it's unfixable because of the inherent design differences and intentions that exist. Overwatch 2 sucks right now and it's about to suck worse. have fun with your garbage game folks.
Take the Overwatch content creator's takes on the leaks with a grain of salt. The vast majority of them are hyper-focused on the top 0.01% of competitive play, and constantly campaign for the game to have _higher_ Barriers To Entry. Meanwhile, the leaked patch notes make it clear that _lowering_ Barriers To Entry is one of the dev team's primary goals. Which makes sense, seeing as how a free-to-play game's survival depends on how good it's "new player experience" is.
I have almost 0 faith in their ability to balance a more brawl OW. Goats was the most brawly it has ever been, people hated it, and blizz couldn't fix it. I can see a world where the brawl becomes such an issue they drop a support and make the game 4v4.
Wow subscribed I like how you talk professionally with personality as well as adding bits of educational components, like using google trends to correlate the ow2 timeline
I bought 4 physical OW statues, many OW1 event loot boxes. When I saw the OW2 shop prices and how much time it would take to complete the battlepass, I was out of interest. I will maybe spend money on OW2 if all shop prices are lower to 1/10 of what they are now. It is beyond ridiculous, paying $20+ for a skin.
The problem with removing OHK’s is that Widow is going to be useless, just remove her as a character at that point. The issue of OHKs from her was that some maps were too good for her. No cover and long sightlines. If you headshot someone and they dont die theres a good chance they just get healed to full and you wasted your time. OHKs should be in the game, but they should take skill and perfect execution.
OW could literally be the best most polished shooter on the market and I likely still wouldn't play it due to the battlepass and seasonal bullshit they decided to lean into.
Just miss the days when games didn't have to make millions or billions to make the company happy, maybe we just have to go back to developing games in unreal 1 instead of 5.
Or waste less money on marketing. Witcher 3 had a 100 million budget, the game itself cost 5 million (artist, dev, etc salaries). Marketing the rest. Its disgusting how little the actual people that make it get paid, while marketing and management guys suck limitless money.
Quick note: Everyone likes to make the point that the Moira Lilith skin was in $40 bundle and it was :( But everyone leaves out the fact that you can buy any shop skin outside of their respective bundles in the hero gallery (while the skin is in the shop)
I take the view no one seems to know where these "leaks" come from or how accurate they might be, so I'll wait until actual announcements and patch notes turn up before I get too bent out of shape. However, nothing that has happened lately gives me any sense of optimism about OW2 - things were looking pretty bleak before the alleged leaks and wide-ranging layoffs, so I assume things will just continue to deteriorate.
Forget Overwatch "3", they need to do Overwatch "we're sorry edition". Really, just turn this thing around to OW1. Have it be that $70 (cause no way we'd get $20 these days), but you will get EVERYTHING in there and in the future. You ain't making a Fortnite out of this IP, so just forget about it. 13:41 Blah blah blah, there is no "in context of other changes". It's just making it so DPS mains can run around not worrying about their healers, because the whole game has always been catering to DPS mains (second tank got removed just because DPS hated "shooting at shields all day"). 17:05 The only reason the game is any kind of good is cause it's using the skeleton of OW1, as that was still made with some passion for the game. It was better as a product with lootboxes in it.
Has problems for months on end with short-sighted updates that end up needing massive rebalances every time at minimum, if not tremendous bugfixes for being literally broken. Has a playerbase furious with them for poor decisions and lack of clear communication. Proceeds to start cutting the dev teams and laying off most of customer service and QA. Having been a fan of Blizzard since the days of Diablo 1/Warcraft 2...It still hurts to see them fall harder than Tyrael did in the intro to D3.

So OW2 made barely more money than OW1 in roughly the same timeframe with MTX.. yet the avg player gets waaaay less value out of the game (in terms of skins). What a disaster.
OW really is the gaming bag fumble of all time.

Koticks golden parachute was nearly $400m, which is enough to fund two or three entire AAA games, for the record.

Overwatch: Dead Game@@Shiirow
OVERWATCH: AGAIN
I LOVED OW1, I played it every day. It was so good, and then they took the game i purchased away and turned it into a piece of shit. I'll only go back if they change it back to it's original vision of 6v6
they already revamped so many from my main heroes. i wouldnt recognize the game anymore 😢
@@Kamishikyo and all of those things could have been fixed without going to 5v5 and turning the game into a pile of shit
I just want Overwatch Classic, set back before they overbalanced, sterilizing the fun out of the game for esports.
yeah i want the game i paid 60 bucks for back...
Im starting to want the ow1 that was dead at the end with a double shield meta back. I think i actually preferred that over every aspect of ow2
Give players time and they'll shift metas, once they get bored of blindly following whatever's advertized as strong on youtube

Then i remembered, it's Activision/Blizzard.
ABK will always find a way.
Left OW2 because of the direction they we're going and after cutting out all that pve content. Sad to see its getting even worse, was hoping to come back after a good major overhaul of the game.
Nobody will ever convince me that E-sports isn't a ponzi scheme.
And the game will still be a dead, messy hulk no matter what.
I had no idea how good I had it in base OW.
The Moira bundle killed any chance of me spending money on Blizzard MTX. It's not that I can't afford, I just can't justify it.
Meanwhile Palworld and Enshrouded together cost roughly the same. They dug their own hole.
It gets harder and harder for me to justify buying live sevice garbage, indies and older games keep me occupied
Respect.
Maybe they revamp the pve commitments and I'll start caring.
These leaks are just more evidence that the Overwatch team doesn't have a shred of a clue on how to balance or fix the game. Overwatch is beyond redemption at this point because I know for a fact they don't have the balls to revert to Overwatch 1 style 6v6, when the game was still actually good.
If they did they would basically admit that the higher-ups made a mistake, and God forbid if those corpo stuck-ups did something so egregious
Yeah. When it was double shield. Or GOATS. Or any of the other awful metas. Maybe it was never good.
Yeah iv said it before and I'll keep saying it, Overwatch didn't win game of the year as a casual 5v5 format.
No no no, they can't go back as they really had to completely redo the engine to unable PvE..... Ooooh wait
OW2 is just a poor excuse to strip out the previous monetization for a far more aggressive predatory monetization practices.
they don't have the balls to revert it to 6v6 because then people would realize how few people are actually playing because of queue times
How can there be a OW3 if OW2 never happen?
They should just roll it back to OverWatch 1, then I might play again.
OW3 will be the specialized OW2 version where they cut out the PvE to focus more on PvP. (Also, there are now loot boxes which you have to buy keys for)
As said it should be called ow.5 they have taken out more than they’ve added

It really doesn't matter if they use the PTR for testing, because they have never iterated on any of the PTR builds anyway. "It turned out better than expected" and then they just ship it.
Because adding that 2 worked out so well
They're lowering the skill floor and skill ceiling at once that's crazy
they're taking notes from Paladins now

Lmao, how turn tables.
what exactly is this change to skill floor or skill ceiling? i completely disagree with this take and would like to hear a real argument.
what is certainly going to change is the TTK is going up, but that doesn't affect either skill floor nor ceiling, and removing oneshots such as hanzo makes the game less frustrating and more predictable regardless of skill.
@@BattousaiHBrhonestly I don't see the issue with lowering the skill floor of a game.
but yeah lowering the skill ceiling can be problematic.

@@urazz7739??? StarCraft was made an E-sport by Blizzard…
And the PvE news completely killed the game for me.
loved overwatch when it came out but haven't played in years.
They've ruined a great game ans no amount of "balancing" or "overhauling" can save it.
Commenting for the algorithm. Keep it up, you are doing great work.
Economic 101 is that, if you're not selling enough, particularly of a product with an ongoing unit cost of basically zero, you lower the price.
These guys decided to sell a $40 thing to 100 people instead of a $10 thing to 1,000.
Great to see that things are getting worse and blizzard is worried more about monetization than player experience. 🙃
Remeber how the overwatch teams keeps promising to be more transparent, well they broke that promise again, and now they have no control over the narrative, again. Sorry but Keller is not up to the task.
I want this game to fail 100%. I am furious with how they have treated their loyal player base who supported them in OW for years
I miss Overwatch 1.

I've seen takeovers happen, especially of failing companies. There is a lot of fat to be trimmed when a company and its teams cant produce good content. And lets not kid ourselves, if anyone at microsoft has been keeping up with overwatch content, or god forbid has played it, then it was pretty obvious that the overwatch team is utterly incompetent based on their track record post-release of OV1.

i would say Microsoft should kick evey single dev in the Overwatch team and re-hire people that actually know what they are doing.
Horse armor was oblivion Not skyrim
8:45 Why is Puerto Rico counted separately to the US?
Because it’s not part of the US - it’s a territory.
OW2 matches will take much longer, and thus be even grindier for all the *checks notes* [damn near nothing] that players can grind for.
It is beyond ridiculous, paying $20+ for a skin.
people who play this game still are enablers.
Let it die, guys. It stopped breathing a while ago. Pull the plug.
OW3 is on the way... we didnt even get OW2
OW could literally be the best most polished shooter on the market and I likely still wouldn't play it due to the battlepass and seasonal bullshit they decided to lean into.
QA is now the first 3 to 6 months after release.
Release of what? Every major patch is a new release. QA is forever. Welcome to live services.
@@benjaminbaer5485whoa it only costed them 5 million??!
Overwatch 3 with even more lgbt representation! Oh, you want a good game? Try somewhere else. - blizzard.
Oh no they fired the people who were wasting all the development money to impress their peers instead of make a good game.
So if Overwatch wasn't already a sinking ship... now it is.
And I say again:
*G O O D !*
man the original hanzo projectile size nerf around o1s3 was so incredibly depressing
Quick note: Everyone likes to make the point that the Moira Lilith skin was in $40 bundle and it was :( But everyone leaves out the fact that you can buy any shop skin outside of their respective bundles in the hero gallery (while the skin is in the shop)
overwatch's revamp will actually just be overwatch 1 again with more payment methods than available in the current and previous overwatches
I wont play till 6v6 is back.
Inflate the value in a shallow unsustainable way, seal the deal, profit wihtout actually adding any value
Overwatch 2 is becoming more like paladins everyday, i do not mind
i mind, i dont like paladins
Outside gaming it's common to lower prices to increase traffic
I take the view no one seems to know where these "leaks" come from or how accurate they might be, so I'll wait until actual announcements and patch notes turn up before I get too bent out of shape. However, nothing that has happened lately gives me any sense of optimism about OW2 - things were looking pretty bleak before the alleged leaks and wide-ranging layoffs, so I assume things will just continue to deteriorate.
Making aim more forgiving sounds like a really fuckin stupid idea...
"This is overwatch 3"... If you consider 2 a 2, not a 1.x... otherwise, this is a league of legends Season chance.
Imagine taking away objective play and changing game to "everyone by themselves" game
The Overwatch patch bullet points sound absolutely horrendous...
