    Fantastic video Bethaney, I found you channel recently and you've been so helpful! I've always wanted to write a novel and now with kdp being so easy to upload on with your videos, it really does give new indie authors like me a chance! I have wrote and published my first novel now on kdp thanks to your helpful videos, it's called 'Might & Magic: A Tale of the Ages', and i published it yesterday! Already working on a sequel, thank you so much for your amazing tips and keep up the great work 😊

    Thank you for your great list of ideas! I just started showing my cut and collage books on TH-cam, and it’s so much fun to take a pair of scissors to my book and make a collage on camera, and my book sales do seem to have had a boost right away. I definitely need to get going on Tick-tock and do some of your book launch ideas for my next book which is almost ready to publish. I use the Booksprout platform which works well for me although is very clunky for my readers if they’re new to the platform. I’m off to watch more of your content now! Have a great day. 😀👍🦋✂️🦋🍄

    Hi, Bethany.
    I have seen many videos from different KDP gurus talking about the 7 keywords etc. However, most of them talk about no or low-content books. Often, the research method involves searching for which search terms customers on Amazon have typed in the search field. I totally get it for those kinds of books, especially if you want to make them profitable.
    However, when a writer writes a novel or a collection of short stories, I don't see (or believe) that this method really works. Look at your own novels! I don't believe they have been written and then marketed because Amazon customers have searched beforehand for whatever you chose (at the end) to be your keywords. Am I right? A story is a story, oftentimes that begs to be written - with no relation/view to specific keywords.
    So - I call for some good advice/hints from a seasoned story writer as to HOW you deal with the keyword issue. Thanks in advance for considering this.
    All the best,
    Jesper

I'm self-publishing my first novel this summer and was thinking to do a special preorder bundle with a signed hardcover + swag like stickers, character cards, bookmarks, etc. but when priced out I'd have to charge almost $50 or so but I don't really know if that would be something readers would be interested in buying... My biggest problems are expendable money for one, and two, the fact that i'm writing books in one continuous series. So marketing new releases is hard because, theyre all sequels/prequels to the first in the series. All my marketing has to go into the first book because its where you start. obviously. And that has it sown complications. The fact that its a 500 page tome is asking a lot for new readers, and then for them to realize that theres like, 6 other stories to consume in the series. its just too daunting... I often debate on splitting book 1 into multiple volumes, but the way its structured, the pacing cant be messed with by chopping it up.

  • @mical7582
    @mical7582 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    📚 Please do a video on newsletters. For a newbie is it better to add a sneak peek of the first chapter, the entire first chapter or a prequel.
    Do you have any other suggestions for reader magnets for a debut author? Also for an author with a couple releases but trying to get more interested readers.

    • @BethanyAtazadeh
      @BethanyAtazadeh  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I hope to do that topic soon! I say share as much as you're comfortable, it's not going to hurt to share more, Amazon actually shares the first 10% I believe once a book is published anyway. There's so many awesome reader magnets - the best advice is to put yourself in your target reader's shoes and ask what they would enjoy.

    Thanks for these tips, I'm terrible at marketing myself. Not sure how to get followers on tic-toc. Love making book trailers and greeting cards on TH-cam. I'm terrible at running newsletters. Lost my newsletter when the site I used to host with sold to another company. If you own the rights to your character art, then you can sell author merch on sites like Zazzle or cafepress.
