As a first-time indie author, I really enjoyed watching this video. In my case, I run a digital agency and will be using my book as both an additional stream of revenue and something to help increase my credibility and authority. As soon as my book is available for purchase on Amazon, I'll let my prospective and current clients know about it. In addition to sharing the news with those I know, I will also execute an email marketing strategy that will involve offering a free chapter in exchange for their name and email address. With Black Friday and the new year coming up, I'll also work on how I can make the most of these opportunities.
I think identifying my ideal reader is where I'm sort of stuck and the few hundred people I have on social are not interacting with my posts so it's a little frustrating when they are supposed to be "friends" so I'm going to be searching outward going to libraries, books stores and so on to try to create an audience or at least get some networking in place. Though I'm in a small town I'm going to start here and branch out to bigger towns around me as I build this thing. It has almost been defeating the lack of support, but I am persistent with the purpose that God's given me and I know that I am taking extra steps to be sure my content is top notch- quality over quantity. Lots to consider here - thank you for that. It can seem a daunting task to do promotion for a first book when told all the things you need to do. So reassuring to know there's value in starting with a small group and moving on from there. Thanks again for all good advice.
Newsletter for me... I am in the process of developing an author website so, I will be sure to include the Newsletter tab. Thank you! Subscribed. Now upload a video on what to include in a great newsletter? How often are newsletters updated?
I am really glad that I have discovered this channel. As for my ideal reader, she is a child and that's always a dilemma. because you can't be direct with your ideal reader if you write for them.I can only aim my marketing to parents, grandparents and teachers it still feels like it's not talking to my target audience.

Wow. Books are so essential. What with the loose security conditions in the small library of the high-security prison in Cameroon from where one of my students have been released. They let the prisoners steal all the books except for four which are safely guarded. 1 . "The Hanging Garden" by Ian Rankin. 2. "The Picture of Dorian Gray" by Oscar Wilde. 3. "Bleeding Stubs" by Donald Besong. 4. "Purple Hibiscus" by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie. Please send your used novels to any mayor in Douala with the tag "Prison reform program."

Two questions: 1) Is there anyway to encourage peers to leave a review. I know gifts are unethical, but is there something g you could offer for any (good or bad)review? 2) Is mediocre review or a bad review better than nothing at all?
Everyone says you need an ideal reader? Define your goals? How can I define the ideal reader? If I set myself a goal of 1,000 sales, how do I achieve those sales? All of that is just blah blah blah.

What do you mean? How would they know I’d someone was a friend of family member?
This is only for writers who write in English... What about the rest?
