In the silence I could hear Hikaru’s brain saying “this is completely winning for me. I’m completely winning here. Yeah this is completely winning for black”
This is so much more entertaining than actual national/international competition. Great players, great commentary(trash talk), hardly ever ends in a draw.
@@RaterisimoCBA that’s like saying an amateur boxer didn’t put up a good fight if he lasted 12 rounds against Floyd Mayweather in his prime. Of course Hikaru has less time, he’s literally one of the best chess players in the world
@@Epyxoid u're missing the point , you're not "doing good" , doing good would be having 60 seconds yourself and lose by a couple of peons , that would be doing good. Otherwise they all just got smashed, which is fine cause like u said he is a GM.
Good luck beating hikaru when he has a minute or more on the clock, but imagine being so good that you take hikaru to the point where he only has a slight adv of your doubled pawn structure.
I looked at the philidor counter gambit game, and Hikaru lost in this opening with black to a guy rated 200 points lower than him in 2010, according to Lichess database Which is why, I imagine, he knows it so well
He needs to restore his image after the chessbae affair and he is doing it in the best way possible, making himself available to 'normal' players - as you said - and committing in the classical format arena after a two years hyatus. The guy is a fighter, no doubt about it.

That old Paul Morphy fan guy really loves the game of chess.. it seems from his comments and constant evaluation of all the games played in the coffee chess arena.
Yea, It was a good fight. He was playing till pretty deep endgame. There is a huge difference between an amatuer player even a lot experienced and masters, GMs.

A pawn cannot capture another pawn en passant unless the opponent's pawn moves in line with your pawn. To put it more simply, Hikaru's pawn was one square too far to en passant.
This is a genuine question: Is trash talking like....a part of chess culture? I see a lot of videos of guys talking trash to him but he is always so calm and focused. Is street just just like...jovial trash talk that doesnt ACTUALLY mean anything but Hikaru is classically trained and therefore more posied? or like are these people just genuinely rude and hikaru is polite?
In the silence I could hear Hikaru’s brain saying “this is completely winning for me. I’m completely winning here. Yeah this is completely winning for black”
"OH no I blundered!!! I'm a moron. Why am I playing such bad chess?" In the same breath 🤣
"Yes we go takes takes takes check takes takes and this is just a winning end game"
" takes takes takes and winning"
"I'm so bad in chess..."
This is so much more entertaining than actual national/international competition. Great players, great commentary(trash talk), hardly ever ends in a draw.
it's entertaining if you're following the games in your mind
I'm not that good at chess but can watch Hikaru play all day
we love winners, no matter what the physical flaws, awkward personalities, winners are above criticism
Imagine how much SPEEEEEED he would have with his pineapple shirt
These guys wasn't worth having a match with the pineapple shirt
I’ve seriously heard that pineapples are used by swingers as a code so they can recognise each other. For example at the door mat

Love these games with the coffee chess crew and time odds. So entertaining.
Well he certainly put up a good fight
Considering he has 5 minutes when Ikkaru has only 1 minute .. uhm I don't know , maybe ? Lol

Yeah, that's just a dumb statement. Try to last as long as him against Hikaru even with one hour on the clock. Good luck with that...

@@RaterisimoCBA well considering that Hikaru *is* a GM. The second guy *did* put up a good fight.

What do you expect he is also a master level player. So even NMs can bring a good fight against a GM
I mean he’s a national master with 5x the time on the clock
I looked at the philidor counter gambit game, and Hikaru lost in this opening with black to a guy rated 200 points lower than him in 2010, according to Lichess database Which is why, I imagine, he knows it so well
Wow
What was the time format?
Hikaru is the best. Always makes himself available to public and is so entertaining.

2:08 "Oh scheiße!"
😂😂😂😂😂😂
The guy was referring to Hikaru's opening when he said "I don't like this one".
"I should be better here"....hikaru brain in silence ❤
you run a million scenarios in your head in seconds
The first oldman clearly overestimated himself, didn't know when to quit 😂
Hikaru has that sarcastic smirk on his face because he knows already that he will win.
Excellent game..!! like that he waited until Ke2... kicked the knight away with b4 took the pawn on d4.. then brought the Bishop back..
Well fought Butchy Boy, my favourite CC player 👌
The first game was crazy. I don't know how chess masters know every single opening in chess
because they see them once and never forget it xD
They have downloadable ram options in their head

Gonna miss this after you move Hikaru 😭
I would love to see Hikaru play with no time odds against all the best Masters in the room helping each other at the same time.
Numbers don't really help you in chess. Better to have a single coherent strategy. *looks at the Opera Game*
@@briankarcher8338 That's exactly what I want to see in such a contest. Thanks for amplifying my point.
It would not matter if they were significantly lower-rated. Like, even five 2400s would not beat a 2700-2800.
Unless 1 of the master name is stockfish
7:16 GM Hikaru when he went from h7 to h5 with the pawn was the not a moment when you could've enforced en passant rule?
1:00 may someone correct me if this is right, he could have played d4xc3 b2xc3, then bc4xc3 then check? (sorry if my notations suck still learning)
Well, I don't think bxc3 would ever happen. It would be losing to take back the pawn right away, and instead white can win a rook in multiple ways.
I like how he had a millisecond of disappointment before seeing the checkmate😂
That first game was so satisfying. Nothing like seeing a trash talker get his ass handed to him. LOL
Oh scheiße
In 10 seconds 😂
It feels like in the second game the pawn could have been saved with a move like a3 or b4 , don't know what could have gone wrong after
The pawn can't be defended because you don't have time the threat of rd2 is stronger
The second game is amazing 🔥🔥

Great guy.👍
At the end 'is this endgame boss" lol.
Indeed
When ever i look away from the board...it's not because i'm remembering a previous game, it's because i saw a squirrel.
2:12 Can someone explain to me why he lose? He could have moved the King to E7 or F8, that or I'm getting something wrong
His queen was going to be taken so it’s a lost. Hikaru won’t lose up a queen.
His King and Queen were forked by the Knight
7:18 why did hikaru not take w en passant to promote his pawn

first guy against boston mike would be fun, just for the trash talk
"was this endgame lost" lol
hikaru playing faster then an anime could ever bring a story about chess
1:09 Hikaru created a nice position.. that's only 10 seconds to set.

a6

Any tips on from NM to GM in chess?
You should play with 3 people together against you , you use a headphone u can’t hear them , same time , will be awesome
Hikaru plays surprisingly well without a roof over his head 🤔
thought white should have played e5 re1-e2 and if b4 ne2-d4. should have drawing chances. then kf2 seemed like a mistake
Great GM
Is the board set up correctly at 2:24?
yes
Set up correctly? *Yes*
Labeled correctly by manufacturer? *No*
Draw all pieces. Let the clock finish the game. Hikaru's opponent is dumb.
Hey guys I am new to chess in that 1st game where is the mate?
Good fight!
Why no piece count?
How was first game mate?
idk if that endgame was lost

Magnus is not as fast as Hikaru tho, that 5 min to 1 advantage Hikaru gives could make Magnus lose by time

why didn't he en passant on 7:15
