- This is the site of the Winkley Bridge in Heber Springs (also known as the old swinging bridge.) It collapsed on October 28, 1989. It's cables broke while a group of young people were standing on it. Five people were killed that day and 18 others were injured.
"The Winkley Bridge was an excellent example of a streamlined suspension bridge, and one of only two remaining suspension bridges in Arkansas, before its collapse in 1989. For a period of sixty years, the Winkley Bridge served as the only convenient link between the eastern section of Cleburne County and the county seat of Heber Spring." -AR Dot

Every time you do content in Heber I am like “That’s my home town !!! You should do a video climbing sugarloaf the view is awesome
😁 It kinda feels like my hometown too. I'm there way too much 😅. I love it there!
I have been there and crossed in a car and after it was closed to traffic we walked across it. Yes you should climb Sugarloaf it was a long time ago when I did.
@@robertcounts5300 I feel like it would have been terrifying to cross in a car. 😬 Like the Beaver Bridge. It's beautiful but I won't be driving across it. 😅
@@AllAboutArkansasTravels I was a kid 10 or 12, I didn't know to be scared!
@@robertcounts5300 True!
She said 5 teenagers, it is really 4 teenagers and 1 adult died and the other 18 were injured. 😢
@@joelgordon6483 Thank you for clarifying. 😞 That's the information I found online
