    should've done a blind test have someone swap the rod without knowing which is inside

    I just got my 20lb captured guide rod and just dropped it in. It doesn't lock the slide up tight. It slides back and forth. Also after racking the slide about a dozen times then field stripped my sig the guide rod and spring just popped out of place and fell on the floor on its own

    Just an observation on your first set of controlled pairs: shots 1/4, 3/5 made up your close groups making shots 2/6 your wide group. All shots looked to be about 2" from the previous one. Still nice groups in the end though 👍

    I have a 2022 in .40 cal. What rate guide rod do you recommend?

    • @GallowayPrecision
      @GallowayPrecision  5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      At least the 20lber, though in 40 the 22lber will give you the best reduction in felt recoil and muzzle rise.

    Have been thinking of upgrading my stock guide rod for my Sp2022. Which do you guys suggest when suppressing the pistol w/ 124gr +p Gold Dots?

      What suppressor are you going to be using, also I wouldn't put plus p through a suppressor.

      The +p is the hottest load I would be using with it, and that has only been on a few occasions. Typically, for practice I am using standard 124gr FMJ loads. The can in questions is a Griffin Optimus, on an actual Sig barrel.

      I would start with the stock weight, then try the 20lber.

    Will a 22 lb. guide solve my failure to feed problem?

    • @GallowayPrecision
      @GallowayPrecision  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Possibly, what ammunition are you having issues with?

    • @chrisw2521
      @chrisw2521 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@GallowayPrecision Everything. I have tried multiple brands including Blazer, Winchester, PMC, etc with 115 grain, 124 grain on and on. It starts failing after about 30 rounds after clean and lube and gets more frequent from there.

    • @GallowayPrecision
      @GallowayPrecision  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@chrisw2521 Sounds like a feed ramp issue coupled with a weakening guide rod spring, how many rounds do you have on the stock guide rod?

    • @chrisw2521
      @chrisw2521 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@GallowayPrecision About 500 rounds at this time.

      @@chrisw2521 I'd say it's worth trying a higher rate for sure. Start with a 20lber and see what she does.

    Just as a general observation you're shooting a bit high. Lower the front sight post just a fraction.

      If he is aiming on the bulls eye, he is barely shooting a couple of inches higher which is what one would want.

    I can shoot better with the stock guide rod
