    Me as a kid would have abandoned the playground to watch the "old guys" flying their cool planes.

    that's really cool, never knew about line flying, less chance of crashing by the looks of it. Plus you get to see your beautiful plane more closely for longer.

    • @shugemery
      @shugemery  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Actually more chances for crashing as we fly close to the ground. Ask me how I know. th-cam.com/video/ZHrXHZm4LjM/w-d-xo.html

    • @ifell3
      @ifell3 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ha ha guess there's always that, no one made you do a loop to loop that close to the ground. But landing has to be a whole load easier no speed control, and individual trim on rudders etc.
      Would be interesting to see if you still need liability insurance here in the UK for one.

    Consecutive loops were good ... triangles were passable ... squares need a lot of work. Old C/L pilot here (stunt & combat). Were those std. 60 ft. lines? Seems like for a craft that large you should use longer lines. Don't know if the AMA rules on such have changed. When I flew stunt (aerobatics), Fox .35 Stunt was king, although there were a few using Johnson .35s. OS Max was starting to get popular in stunt, and combat was ruled by Fox, SuperTiger and Johnson. Lots of good memories. If we had an active club around with guys still flying C/L, I'd be temped to fly again. We don't, so now I fly electric r/c quadcopters.

    • @shugemery
      @shugemery  7 ปีที่แล้ว

    I know THE PATTERN is great, but it is boring to the observer. These dweebs are gone to Burger KIng after one minute of watching. Lets get back to the true grit of C/L....SUS (scare you stiff). Avoiding a crash 1 inch from the ground, flying very fast in an overhead dive. Something an R/C plane cannot do.
