    Late 60's I was a line boy at Goshen. Fueling planes when they would land. Putting customers planes away for them. Cleaning the bellies of the rental planes. Loved all of it. One cold winter day similar to your day. A 210 landed for fuel and the pilot was Eddie Rickenbacker Junior. Son of WW1 ace Eddie Rickenbacker. Very nice guy.

      Wow that’s really cool! Definitely have the opportunity to meet some interesting people working as a line guy.

    I’d add nailing an approach at night at a big airport. Seeing a lit up airport after breaking out near minimums at night is magical!

    Great job Grant from pre-departure planning considerations through the challenging landing with excellent SA throughout. You could even sense the higher GS through video compared to your usual landings. Nice job on integration and editing. As always, I really appreciate you sharing this content.

    111-thousand??? (@ 18:13) You were really up there ;-) (Might have been an edit glitch too...)
    Excellent video sir as usual!!
    Question, do you think these crazy fuel prices will impact your flying??? Or is aviation important enough that you fly regardless of the fuel prices?? I know when I flew, (90's), when prices spiked the flying virtually stopped and it didn't matter whether it was personal or corporate... Safe travels sir :-)

    • @GrantBaker
      @GrantBaker  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Brian, I’m not sure where it originated but I hear a lot of other guys saying it too. For 10k-17k I usually say one one-eleven thousand, one two-twelve thousand, etc.
      So far, fuel prices haven’t had any affect on our flying. But that could always change. They’re sure getting up there right now!

    It would have been interesting to see SiriusXM/Foreflight compared to the other 2. NEXRAD has been around since 1988! It's a little, or a lot dated! LOL 8) --gary

    • @GrantBaker
      @GrantBaker  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Gary, both SiriusXM and ADSB show NEXRAD radar. I don’t currently have an ADSB receiver (like a Sentry) to get weather on Foreflight. When we had the 421 with dual GTN750s, I had the XM on one and ADSB on the other so I could easily compare. It’s generally very close, but sometimes there are differences.

    Hey Grant!!! What do you think of the 7 blade prop on the PC-12?

    • @GrantBaker
      @GrantBaker  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Steve, personally I’m not a big fan of the look of it. The specs all look good, but I haven’t done much research to see if the promises are realized in actual operations.

    A few times now I have heard pilots refer to a turboprop as a “jet”. Is this common? I know a turboprop is essentially a jet engine with a propeller, but it seems to me these are not interchangeable terms. No?

    • @GrantBaker
      @GrantBaker  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Correct! Brad was talking about a jet, not a turboprop. It made the video because I thought it was great advice about staying ahead of the airplane, but I cut part of the conversation out. So that’s my mistake for making it unclear!
