Hey mate, love the videos! When you have a few of these to do, try taking your time with the first, check it, then put a straight cutter with a Templar bearing in your router. All the plates will come out exactly the same. I find this the easiest way when I have an entire level or multiple of the same detail 👍🏽
in our site, the foreman made the curved wall. I thought wow that's cool. After watching this, it looks pretty straightforward.... thanks for uploading this video
Best and most accurate way I’ve seen our formworkers cut curves in ply is with a router/router jig. Pretty similar to your setup with the nail through the timber to get the radius but with a 100mm rip of ply with a router attached to the end of it. Takes 15 minutes to set up the jig at first but gives a perfect curve every time without having to freehand with a jigsaw
Cool project. Try using the jigsaw instead of pencil when you were tracing the radius. Might be hard to keep sturdy though if you don’t have screw holes in the jigsaw sole. If it works it would be spot on perfect and quick
Great job again mate. Maybe try cutting the formply in half and doubling it up, that way you’re only doing half your cuts. In commercial laser disto measures are your best friend. One more thing Milwaukee makes a curved speed square for round walls. 😁
Thanks mate! I thought about doing that with the form ply, but I was worried that the jigsaw blade might bend and cut the bottom sheet at a slightly different size. (Honestly it probably wouldn’t have been an issue) I’ve never heard of a curved speed square before. I need to get my hands on that
@@DaveDoesCarpentry yeah I suppose it depended on your blade length. Anyway you solved a problem easily and gave a great explanation. Regarding the round speed squares you can find near the glass Hammers and box of sparks 😆
This video on how to frame up for a curved wall is brilliant. Is there another video showing how you lined the wall. Did you bend standard plasterboard, or did you use flexible plasterboard? Any advice? Thanks.
The best way to test the difference is by using the Trakkie dak test method. Have your grey or black trakkie daks from Kmart on…the clip the gun on and hit the start on your stop watch , quickest gun to pull your pants down to knees is the heaviest 😂
You don’t wanna go where he is mate… there’s a lot of nasty drop bears all over the place. That’s why in the video Dave has to finish by 5pm…He has to be home before it got really dark.
Word of advice from one chippy to another. Stop putting your hand behind the ramset when shooting. I wish someone told me this 10 years ago. Your elbows will thank you later.
Never done a wall like this before, About to start framing a house soon with one of them thanks for the tips 👍

Its good to see a chippie with numerical literacy. If you have an apprentice he’s lucky to have you .
Great video mate. Best thing I've bought recently is a lazer measure, saves me loads of time 😊
Awesome video. I love this kind of framing
Thankyou! I always love getting to do a different style of framing like this!

Double sided tape measure flipped upside down to mark the studs on the plates, it’ll bend with it and sit flat for more accurate spacing.
What brand
Awesome video bro always wanted to know how to do these in case I was ever asked at work .. I’m a formwork/labourer thanks brother 🤙🏽
Thanks mate! Hopefully you get to build one now!

Thanks mate it's really helpful. I was struggling to find a way. It's very helpful

You make it look gard to layout that curved plate.

We use 6mm flexible gyprock
What the name of the tool you use to frame wood to the concrete? What’s the name of the orange concrete gun? Awesome tool! Saves so much time bro.
search ramset gun it will come up
What is the best way to figure out the radius?
Hey mate, is the Hikoki nail gun lighter than the Milwaukee one?
It feels lighter than the Milwaukee, I’ve never had them out at the same time to compare tho

Where do I get curved drywall?😢
How does one go about hanging shelves on a curved wall?
Looks like melamine finish on the plywood?
And sounded like you called it foam plywood...
You must carry around alot of different chargers 😁😅 dewalt, makita, hikoki
Good job , you can radius’s with a skil saw
If it’s not too shallow
Thanks bro
I’ll do the same and use another 2 nails 90 apart then use them to scratch the ply

Im surprised why, whoever build the cfs wall left this small section of curved wall out and didn’t want to do it with fexi track and steel studs..
It’s called a trammel!
Pro tip” get blue tape, mark measurements on tape, and then put it on your cured piece bobs ur uncle
You should buy laser.
