I live in AZ and have no plans to move to NYC. I watch your videos because of the smart real-world storytelling and cute animation. It's kind of like a fascinating reality TV show for me thinking about how you'all live in the City. Keep up the good work!
The NYC laundry situation scares me 😅 In Australia most apartments have in-unit laundry taps, and tenants bring their own washing machine with them. The last time I shared laundry facilities was in 1997, and it was only with one other person, right between our apartments. We do have laundromats, but not many people need them.
Haha 😂. This is not the norm in the US, just New York. It's because a lot of the buildings are too old and/or too small. Renovating them would be too expensive. The other option that's pretty popular and I forgot to add to my video is "wash and fold". You drop off your laundry and pick it up clean and folded in a day or two. The price is by the pound.
When I used to live in Yorkville in Feb 1996 from Japan, we had to go to nearby laundrymat. Most laundrymat are 25 cent machines. When I moved to Jackson Heights, when I was living on Warren St, laundrymat on 37th Av/94th St was only 25 cent. After few months, it increase to $1 coin only machine. then we moved to Chinese business own condo, we had washing and drier in our apartment..

@@UrbanCaffeine Wash and fold would be pretty expensive though?
@@FionaEm yeah, it could end up costing 3x as much than if you did it yourself. It's silly expensive but some people just don't like doing laundry.
Same thing here in Florida, but apartments tend to come with a washer/dryer preinstalled
Even having on-site laundry is already a game changer in NYC. Can't believe!
Haha, that and a dishwasher.

Haha none of my friends in NY have ever owned a washing machine, crazy what you guys have to adapt to in the Big Apple
Yup, that is New York for you. Lol 😂
Best thing I did was invest in a portable washer and dryer!
