Kinda overrated at this point honestly. Same goes with all the Skylines. But then again I can’t blame everyone for these car choices as they are truly great cars. I had a 94 Prelude back in the 90’s and damn I miss that car!

Both N/A and Turbo Supras have a 2JZ. The non-turbo is a 2JZ-GE and the turbo is a 2JZ-GTE. Love the video, congrats Joe!

My favorite feature of the MKIV Supra is that the entire middle control panel is tilted towards the wheel making it truly a driver focused vehicle and easy to reach out to make any chances without losing sight of the road. A spacecraft coupe.

There was a used car deal on Ulmerton Rd. near Pinellas Park, back in the late 90-00s and all they sold were used japanese sports cars. RX7s, MR2s, 300ZX, 3000GTs, Supras, etc. And it wasn't a special shop where everything was inside behind locked door or fences. It was just a used car dealer with a small lot, and a trailer office, that you usually see on the side of roads. And they would let you also come up to them, open the doors, sit in them etc whn I was in HS. The salesmen didn't even car enough to come out, we were kids. They let us admire the cars, no problems.

In 1990 I was 14 years old my father worked for the fork lift division of Toyota, after visiting our local Toyota dealer, they had a red one there and I was hooked. I kept begging my dad to order one through the dealer network I told him one day this car will be or something right now it’s undervalued even my dad said at that time with the TwinTurbo who would pay $48,000 for a Toyota well about five years ago my dad and I were talking about this and he told me I should’ve listen to you Tim we should’ve bought the supra…. but oh well it all worked out. I ended up buying a super clean example of an ISF which is another car i’ve always wanted it’s a 13 60,000 miles on it in ultrasonic blue…

My brother in law in Chicago purchased one of these from an old lady via Craigslist for $16K super low mileage great condition. He then dropped another $15k+ for the next 5 yrs upgrading but nothing major and garage kept.
Recently he got offered $60k cash from a rich guy frm Vegas who wants to turn it into a track qrtr mile beast gutted etc and he sold it that was few years ago. If u ask my brother in law he’ll tell you it’s the biggest regret in life for him which I 100% agree.

The Japanese one was also 320hp. They lied about performance values because of regulations in 90s Japan. Also I believe the Japanese one weighs less because they had less safety laws with the thickness of panels.

If i remember correctly, the jdm had the same hp as usdm but Japanese law prevented cars for having over 276hp but supra, 300zx, skyline had more than listed.

    • @BasedEMT1776
      @BasedEMT1776 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

It was a "gentlemans agreement" in Japan, not really an actual LAW. So they were all advertised at or below 280HP and really all made in the 300's.

Growing up in the 90s this was on everyone's mind. If you knew/seen someone cruising one of these and if it was built that person was the talk of the town. Mustangs, Camaros, Firebirds were all cool cars in 90s but this Supra was a notch above.

The Supra has it's place, but I prefer the 300ZX turbo if we're looking at "affordable" mid-90's sports cars according to 90's prices. Just a hair slower, but very capable and fun to drive, and to me it is more aesthetically pleasing. If you're looking in today's market, you can find one in great condition for under $30k. Hell, you can find a well cared for mid-90s Corvette ZR-1 for under $40k. Finding a Gen4 Supra in equally great condition is going to set you back $80k or more, and many times well over $100k. For that kind of money, and with today's market and how some formerly unobtainable 90's sports cars have depreciated compared to the Supra, there are a ton of equal, if not better, options to consider if you are looking for a car that is meant to be driven fast.

What a throw back memory. Sat in 1993 in a white Supra at a dealership, what impressed me the most was the cockpit feeling sitting in the driverseat and the swooping dashboard section towards the driver (shotgun passanger is a peasant😂). Couldn't afford it back than with my student income, can't afford now either with the iconic pricing stature they have. I did buy after that my very first car back than, a 2nd hand 1986 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am. The Supra was a supercar killer back than. Congrats on that very clean looking Supra. 🤗

YES to no food, drinks, smoking…or twinkies! The struggle with kids.
I’d have a hard time not trying to mod it as well. And it’s never just a X part..one mod = continuous mods..at least for me!
Good to see analog gauges, simple basic controls and not a car full of useless tech.
    You are a lucky dude!

The Supra is a legend! I’m more of a Skyline guy than the Supra, but it actually depends for me so it’s debatable for me which one is better

@TheSpeedDemon64 only reason i think supra was a legend in the US was because we didn't have access to skyline, i had a Mk3 in the late 90s.

Technically this was the 1993.5 Supra. What a fantastic jump in automotive engineering at the time. I was fortunate enough to sell Toyotas during this time and was invited to a sneak peak of this vehicle before it was revealed to the general public. The folks at Toyota explained the development of this vehicle and how meticulously they worked at saving weight. Things like the huge single-outlet exhaust and even using hollow carpet fibers(?!) helped to save weight. Chevy was still selling C4 Corvettes. About ten years later, BMW offered a 3.0L twin turbo I-6 with about the same outputs. Fifteen years after that, Toyota offers the GR Supra with about the same outputs again with the same size engine (yeah they tuned that up a little the following model year). The '93 Supra drove fantastically and felt like it was bolted together with laser precision. The engine's overbuilt construction made it very reliable; inline 6's are naturally balanced and probably the smoothest engines on the planet. Bulletproof and people can easily get 600+hp without tearing it down. Thank you Joe for all of your insightful reviews and Twinkie Chipotle burrito-isms.
